Normally this is triggered by a video, but can happen with a number of programs including Windows Explorer. When this happens my PC goes VERY slow for a few minutes.
Here are my specs:
CPU: Quad Q6600 @ 3.2GHz | GPU: Radeon HD 6950 | Mobo: Asus P5Q P45 | RAM: OCZ 4GB 1066GHz | HDD: 2x 1TB Samsung, 1x2TB
my pc has been acting weird lately, it has began randomly crashing frequently. I turn it on and after 3 or so minutes of random activity it just freezes or gives me a blue screen error. Sometimes while playing BF3, it freezes.[CODE]
When the PC is on it will depending on how long its been on will randomy just shut off. When it shuts off, it "sometimes" reboots but most often it "tries" to reboot but fails and then stays off. After this failed try to reboot if I press the power button on the case and mobo, nothing. Now if I turn OFF the PSU leave it for a few minutes and come back turn the PSU switch on and press the power button the system comes to life for a second or two then dies and will no respond to the power buttons until I turn off the PSU again.I have gotten it up and running from this state by leaving it off and unplugged for a couple of hours. When I say the PC comes to life for a second or two, I mean the case fans. If I get it booted up the BIOS is reset to default for some reason. Also if it makes it to windows, the notification area icons also gets reset... very very odd.I have a short video of the problem, sorry for the darkness, I finally decided to video it and it was 11pm.PSU dying or Mobo. I dont have extra's so I cant test them.Forgot to mention, ive checked for heat problems but none of my temps are high, they are all normal and its a Antec 1200 with tons of air movement.Event Viewer shows nothing expect for unexpected shutdown. My event viewer is clean from any errors also. I do not get any BSOD and this is on a fresh Windows 7 install from late Jan.
I just went to Windows 7 on my laptop, got the 'quick-launch' working but when I click on one of the icons that icon disapears. If I start up a browser lets say, and I need to open another browser window I can't use the quick-launch cuz that icon disappears as soon as I opened the first window.Same with all of them, including 'windows explorer', one window and the icon disappears, is there a way to get them to stay?
I have Windows 7 64-bit with all the latest updates. I have a Gigabyte Z77-D3H motherboard, 8GB of DDR3 RAM, intel i5 2500k CPU, EVGA Geforce GTX 570 videocard,My video drivers are up to date, all drivers are up to date. I get a blue screen randomly and the computer reboots. Here's the log from Windows
There seems to be no pattern as to when I get a BSOD. I ran Memtest86+ for about 18 hours (8 full cycles) and there were no errors. I've noticed also that anytime I run Prime95 with high FFT lengths, all 4 cores fail almost immediately ("Rounding was 0.5, expected 0.4" is a common one). I have gotten BSOD's when nothing was overclocked. I've gotten it when doing light overclock stress testing as well. I've gotten it when doing no stress testing and nothing else that's CPU or memory intensive.
Lately I've been getting BSODs randomly during the day. I work from my computer at home and then sometimes also play games at night like Mass Effect which is pretty system intensive. Whats strange is that the BSODs only happen when I'm working. I have 2 browsers up, a text editor maybe 2, ftp program, sometimes music. Nothing that would strain the system.I've ran driver verifier already which lead me to remove my Realtek HD Audio driver, I've turned it off since. I ran memtest86 overnight once and will run it again for a more extended period, but because of when the crashes happen I'm inclined to think it's a software issue.
So I have been having random bsods every 5 to 12 hours for the past week before this week it's been about every two or three days most of the time after the computer crashes even though it says that it is writing a memory dump when I go to look for it, it's not there so I can't find out what is wrong I have noticed that ntsokrnl.exe is a reaccurring error when it does write a dump I've had many many different errors I have had DRIVER_IRQL_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL_TO I've also had NTFS_FILE_SYSTEM I'll start listing them from now on and updating the forum post any help will be useful I have also replaced my memory done mem checks did a disk check reinstalled windows multiple times I'm at a complete loss here is the one dump I have been able to get
today my pc has randomly shutted itself down 4times. first 2 happened when i was on Internet, and the last 2 when playing, minecraft and dungeon defenders! anyway, had this for ages and no problems. today the crashing started, it says nothing. it just shuts itself down. i tried looking at windows logs but found nothing.
specs:
os: microsoft windows 7 home premium 64-bit 7601 multiprocessor free service pack cpu: amd athlon(tm) ii x3 425 processor motherboard: pegatron corporation - violet6 ram: 6gb.
it might be because of overheating. its 10+ hours a day on and its summer and freaking hot, i don't know
My PC keeps getting BSOD's at random points during use though I'm thinking it could be hardware, but was hoping to get some expert advice before coming to that conclusion. It started happening a while ago and created quite a few minidump files, though tonight I think I reset the CMOS (couldn't boot PC) & went into windows, the date/time were reverted back to 2002 & the minidumps were no longer there (even after adjusting the date/time back to normal)I have 2x dumps at the moment & hope they are of some use.(attached). I had to add .doc to the end of the .dmp files. The upload manager wouldn't upload the standard .dmp file. There's no specific point at which it would BSOD, sometimes PC would just lock up without the BSOD screen showing up. Could happen within minutes of turning on, or an hour+ after. Could be watching a movie or surfing the net.. or just sitting there.
i have been having problems lately with my PC.It has been turning off randomly. But only seems to happen when i am playing games requiring high performace.Say im playing Call of Duty Black Ops on my PC.After 1 hour or 2, my PC randomly turns off. url...And i have added a new Graphics card, the nVidia GTS450.When i am playing my core temps are usally 40-46 Celsius and GFX card 50-60 Celsius.I play on highest settings with 1600x900 and get 60 fps (limit)
As the title already says, I'm having problems with my usb slots not working sometimes for my mouse and keyboard, they either stop working for a few seconds and I get the windows "connect/disconnect" sound or they just stop working which can be fixed by repositioning the 2 usb's into a different set of slots. This solution however only works for a while until the same problem occurs again and I have to reboot to get them working again, this problem nearly only occurs with the rear usb slots, it does, however, somethimes affect my front 2 slots where I have a headset plugged in, this is noticeable immediately as any sound heard from the headset is wrong (can't really explain how it changes ). I have already tried uninstalling/updating drivers and turning on legacy support in the BIOS but to no avail.
Just recently my mouse keeps randomly going off and I have tried it in the 4 front usb 2 ports in my computer and it works but still randomly goes off for a millisecond and in the back usb ports it doesnt work at all when its working it sometimes affects my headset when the mouse goes off and the sound will be really weird and eventually revert back to normal.
I noticed when I went on control panel -> devices and printers my pc had an error symbol on it so I tried to troubleshoot it by using the option when right clicking and it says needs to install 'usb controller driver' and I let it try and find it but it said it failed because it couldn't find it and I can't find it anywhere if anyone can link me to it I would be so happy to get my mouse sorted out.
I've noticed while playing Skyrim that my CPU spikes to 100% causing FPS to go down and the computer to lag.
I'm able to verify the CPU load via my G13 display set to the core temp application.
I've not noticed any type of consistency when this happens and by the time I am able to maneuver to the Task Manager to check which process is causing this, it stops.

and i have an "old" power suply, its a Chieftec ATX-1136H 360W Im using the Windows 7 (64 bit) I had some blue screens(5-6), my pc just froze a couple of times(3-4) and this one time my screen froze and it got filled with pixels in lots of colors(i guess that has something 2 do with my graphics card) anyways my drivers are up2date all of the new stuff is bought from a store, so i doubt it its broken or something.
After a while of being logged in (around an hour or so) Windows will start randomly using up RAM, up to 11.4 gigabytes. When I look in the Task Manager there's literally nothing that even COULD be using up that much RAM. On idle it will use up 5gb and even that is much much more than all of the applications are using in total. Any media players I might want to use on my computer completely go haywire after the 11.4gb. MPC-HC will skip frames constantly with the audio also skipping, VLC will play the audio but not the video whereas both of these would play perfectly well when I first signed in. Browser players (flash basically) work perfectly fine though. When I play a certain game and shut it down everything goes completely insane.
If I play another game the fps will constantly stutter between a full 60fps (which is also my screen limit) and 48 causing the character to seemingly teleport every step instead of fluid walking. My browser will also do a sort of stuttering (Firefox) when scrolling, instead of sliding down the page it will skip a portion but it won't stop scrolling so instead of the "tom's hardware" logo shifting down it will just skip it and skip the next part and the next etc. Though this issue does effect browser players, it doesn't effect application players (VLC, MPC-HC). Except only video players will stutter and everything else (browsers, games, regular applications) will work fine.
MPC-HC's audio will skip and fall behind the video causing basically for the characters to be mouthing words the audio played 5 seconds ago. VLC will start skipping the video while the audio stays intact so when a frame gets stuck it will just skip ahead to where the audio is. Any of these usually occur somewhere between 30min-1hr after being signed in. Once it does I have to shut the computer down and boot it back up again for everything to work normally again. Unfortunately I can't find anything specifically on this that's proved useful (installing/uninstalling certain windows updates as well as checking AV and drivers, uninstalling things).

So I have this computer which lags. It starts lagging after a while after I switch on my computer. I play Battlefield 3 and Call of Duty 4. The problem is that the framerate gets really choppy and it drives me crazy, especially when I am about to takedown someone. So i rage-quitted and found out that Windows is lagging too. A usual web page takes less than 10 seconds to load, but with the lag it takes about a minute. Closing programs also takes longer and sometimes it freezes for a while. I figured that it might be caused by overheating but I checked the temperature with EVGA Precision X and the temperature is only about 40-50 degrees Celsius. Here are my specs:
Win7 has been randomly freezing for the past month, having installed about 2 months ago. The computer freezes up, no response from mouse, keyboard, or monitor -- However I am able to see the screen (no BSOD) as long as it doesn't go to sleep.
I've tried a couple potential solutions. Switched power management to Performance and turned off all sleep / power down options. Cleaned registry with registry cleaner. Ran chkdsk. Tried to update all drivers (seems all are up to date by win7 standards). I've looked through the Event Viewer but I am no expert and do not know how to troubleshoot System Events.
At moments, it does freeze, and it doesn't come back, so I have to shut down it by pressing the radio button. It just freezes randomly, 1 day it didn't freeze all day, and the another day it froze 4 different times of the day, but maybe because I was on the computer most of the day, yet though I have been most of the day when I ran Windows XP or Windows Vista, and it didn't freeze. And at times, the screensaver also freezes, and trust me it annoys you when you're downloading or watching something.
PC Freezes in BIOS and Randomly..And Not Starting? My Dad's 7 Year OLD PC angs(Freezes) In the BIOS and when in windows. I have tried everything from Re-installing Windows 7 and Installing New Ram.....But nothing works...It freeze and i have to force restart it by switching it off and then back on. This is Really frustrating. And Now its not even starting. Monitor doesn't respond but the processor fan works and the green light in the motherboard does glow. Windows 7 Ultimate x64 Laptop: Model: Asus n61jq CPU: Core i7 mobility Q720 1.60GHz RAM: 4Gb Video: ATI Mobility HD 5730 Western Digital 500GB HDD Scorio Blue series Mobo: Can't get the model currently, can get it later if needed.
Dual Boot with Ubuntu Linux, using Grub2 as bootloader. Here's what I've tried:
-I've tried wiping and reinstalling- several times(With 2 separate known working discs). -Updating Windows completely. -Using the driver disc that came with the laptop. -Using the latest drivers downloaded from Asus support. -Flashing the bios with the latest version off Asus support website. -Disabled all power saver management -Wiped entire drive and recreated all partitions -Ran Memtest86+ tests, no errors detected -Running just bare minimum Windows stock software -Ran with no peripherals plugged in at all. -Uninstalled installed drivers, one by one -Installed Windows XP SP3 32 bit with "hacked" drivers for my model and while it was slower, it never froze randomly for no reason. -Thats all I can recall at the moment.
As a note: Linux does not freeze, nor do I have any issues with it at all. Laptop is on a cooling pad as well. Booting into Safe mode: works indefinitely without freezing. I also just realized I do not think I have run Windows without drivers installed, to test that- though they were working prior, but then again so was the OS in general.
Anyway, basically what I'm running into is that I re-seated my CMOS battery a few weeks ago because my computer wasn't starting up. Obviously, the clock reset. I just synced it back up, and everything was fine for all of 10 minutes.
At this point, the clock resets on reboot, but also seems to switch to seemingly random times while the computer is on. I've stopped and started Windows time, done several virus scans that yielded nothing, but it still seems to do this.
My computer keeps randomly freezing up, I know when it happens because my mouse starts to skip, and then like 30 seconds later, my whole computer freezes?
so I had this homemade computer, the specs: [CODE]and after I uninstalled linux from my Ubuntu-Seven dual boot,I used the MBR and boot command in the ERD to fix my bootloader so I can use windows. but after a while, it started powering off randomly, even when I was using it. then when I switch it back on, it says windows was shut down improperly, making me think it's a hardware problem. I've tried RAM test,
My wife has a Sony Vaio laptop running Windows 7. I was using it and reading tips on how to make it run better on the performance tips on the control panel when without warning the screen went to black and reappeared with the desktop now aligned 45% clockwise in a few seconds the screen went to black again and the desktop screen reappeared again but this time re-aligned 45% anti-clockwise, ( the top of the page on the right hand side and the bottom of the page on the left side.
For the past month or so, my laptop has been randomly shutting down with no warning whatsoever. It doesn't even restart, it just completely turns off. I can be doing anything and it will happen.
At first I thought it was overheating but then I installed SpeedFan and it's still doing it (and I can tell from feeling under the computer that it's no longer overheating).
I've run virus scan after virus scan (Malwarebyetes and Microsoft Security Essentials) but it's not finding anything wrong with my computer.
My father has a Toshiba Satellite P755-S5215 laptop with Windows 7 and an Intel inside Core i3 processor. It has occasionally had the issue of turning itself off randomly during boot up, upon logging on, or shortly after logging on. However, it has become much more chronic ever since I hooked it up to use the television to use as a monitor. I plugged it in using a 15-pin monitor cable. The computer was off when I plugged it in and when I removed it. I don't know for sure if the two events are related.
i am having problems with windows7 freeze randomly.i want to use windows 7 .due to rapid hang of pc i change os to xp.my system configuration is: OS Version:
I've got a relatively new custom PC (around 3 months old) and I have problems with it. It was put together by the same shop that sold the parts. It recently started to crash constantly at seemingly random times. Sometimes it would run fine for 5 days without any issues, at other times it would crash once every day for a few days. Even the cause isn't always the same. It would either give me a BSoD or simply shut down without any message and restart itself.
