My sister's Net book has so much garbage on it from downloading trials, games, speedup programs and others to the point I find it hard to clean out the the bad programs. I thought about rebooting until I read some of the troubles others are having to retrieve drivers and selecting proper boot devices.
I have a Acer Aspire one D257 with no windows operating system installed. I get a 17 error" when I turn it on. I do not know what to do to fix it, or how to reinstall Windows 7 on it.
THIS IS A NEW COMPUTER. NOTHING I CONNECT TO THE USB PORT WILL WORK. PLEASE HELP. I HAVE A LOT OF PROJECTS TO COMPLETE AND TIME IS MONEY- I AM LOSING & CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY ANYONE TO FIX!
Recently my netbook took a turn for the worse. I turned it on one day and all it would do is reboot. I ran chkdsk, did memory checks, tried system restores. I did what process of elimination I could do, swapped the hard drive out (it's not the hard drive or a virus on it), I swapped the ram out, it wasn't the ram, I tried to flash the bios, it didn't work. All that ever happens is the system reboots, I see the black windows splash screen and then I'm immediately thrown back to the command prompts for starting from the last good start, etc
Acer Aspire ZR7 model stuck on "Setup is starting services", never progresses.I can't locate o/s discs et.al.It will not open in safe mode using F8.I've also attempted Lft ALT + F10, no good And, F12 at Windows screen. No good.
tried to reset my acer aspire one notbook to factory direct setting ,while doing so it failed n wont restart now it asking for windows installation disc ,which i dont have neither does the notebook carry a disc.
I have an acer aspire laptop. Last night firefox stopped responding and from that message the whole thing, completely froze. Tried safe mode networking and it worked, but normal mode would not work at all. Tried a few hours later and restarted it then froze again once restarted in normal mode and hasn't worked since... yet safe mode works fine. Can anybody help? Please! The only way I could shut it down was to take the battery out. I turned it on, entered my password and when it loaded froze immediatley. I tried again, again the only way of shutting down was to take the battery out, and when turned on I was greeted by a black screen and nothing else. [code]
While setting up my new aspire one D257 here in Spain where i live, I initially set language as English which prevents me from confiuguring Android. Should I uninstall current android and download English version?
I'm trying to install Windows 7 to a rebuilt machine but it won't run from the SATA CD drive. Message is' Reboot and select proper boot device ' The CD drive is first boot priority and the HDD is blank. The CD drive appears in the BIOS boot list.
i was on the internet and it seemed windows crashed everything said not responding then wouldn't load. So felt that i had no other choice but to switch off the PC as it had stayed like this for a long time, when i came to reboot i got a message saying 'Reboot or select proper boot device' I am using an Acer Aspire X3450 PC and don't have the recovery disk but i do have an Acer Aspire laptop with the disk, when i put that in the PC it loads up giving me the option to Restore but it wont let me select it or highlight it. So downloaded a copy of windows 7 as a torrent and burned it to a disk in the hope i could re-install windows. This will allow to go into options like startup repair but wont repair anything as it will only seem to recognise the OS on the disk. So i removed the disk and all that happens is the same reboot error. I can't re-install windows as it will not allow me to.
PC Spec OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit RAM: 6GB DDR3 Memory CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 645 Quad-core Processor HDD: 2TB Hard Drive BIOS: P01-A2
i dont know is i should to post this issues here but i need help w/ booting my system build i connected my optical drive and my hdd and when power up everything look OK until goes to the monitor I see this black screen with that message I trying several things but not success how I get off of that screen so I can go to the BIOS interface and work from there I was able to see the BIOs before I installed this two drivers l don't understand.
i wasn't sure what section to put this problem in so decided on general. I have a asus x53e notebook that was on balanced on two corners to press in the charging cable ( not the problem ). It was knocked over and now when starting up i get the message on a black screen Reboot and select proper device. If i pressf2 when starting up i can get the bios screen but am unsure what happens after that.
Short version: Swapped HDDs, then got the error message in title on one of the drives. Tried mbrfix and bootsect via repair through Windows 7 CD, but doesn't help. Drive is still functioning.
Long version: I recently swapped some HDDs back and forth (one with Windows XP and another with Windows 7, but I did not try booting with both at the same time) and all of a sudden, I get the error message listed in the topic. The HDD is definitely still functioning, I can see it in BIOS and when booting with the Windows CD, I can use command prompt and browse the directories. I've tried mbrfix and bootsect. With bootsect, it says it is successful when entering the line "bootsect /nt60 all" and automatically finds the C:. However, when selecting repair through the Windows cd, the adrive does not show up and the operating system is listed as unknown local disk.
I've read through most of the threads with this same problem but either mbrfix or bootsect seems to usually fix it. I'd prefer not to have to copy the entire drive or reformat if possible, but I guess I will have to if I can't find any other solutions. Since bootsect was successful, does it mean the problem lies elsewhere and is not the MBR?
i change the c/d rom in my computer and it refuse to restart.I tried to reboot but I keep receiving the same message. to reboot and select proper boot device.also what is proper boot device
When I try to start my computer I get a message "Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key_". This problem started a few days ago after my computer crashed. I have had it up and running for 7 months now with no problems. I bought a drive that was not compatable* with my motherboard when I got the parts, but a friend let me borrow one to install windows 7. I just bought a drive to try and fix the problem and now I can't locate my windows 7 disc. I've checked all cables and unplugged everything that was in a usb slot. I've gone in bios and looked for boot order and the only thing that is trying to launch is my HDD. I'm beginning to think I'm just boned since I can't find my windows 7 disc.
I'm getting the message " Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key" upon starting up my computer. This happened randomly after I was torrenting something, I heard the torrent finish, fell asleep for an hour and when I woke up my computer was off. Don't know why. Turned on the computer and got this message. I've tried a few things based on the advice of others like clearing CMOS, tinkering with the BIOS and using Diskpart to make a specific partition "active" which is where I ran into some weird problems.
First off, it seems like according to my BIOS my computer recognizes both of my SATA hard drives and my DVD drive. The boot device priority was in the correct order and I tried tinkering with that to no avail. But it does show up. I've been running my computer and trying things out now with rather only the primary SATA HD hooked up or with the DVD drive as well (when trying to use the recovery disk).
The odd part though is when I tried using the recovery disk to access the command prompt and try out diskpart, I found out that I had no partitions? I was following steps to make it "active" and when I got to typing "list partition" after "selecting disk 0" I got a message saying the disk had no partitions which I found odd cos I was using the computer a few hours ago off of that very hard drive...
My computer randomly had a blue screen when I was using it. It restarted it by itself, and now every time I try to turn it on, it shows a black screen that says "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key". I honestly don't know anything about computers.
I have recently encountered the infamous " Reboot and select proper boot device. " this occurred after I formatted my 500GB Hard Drive. I am a bit of a noob and I forgot that this would wipe off my windows too. I had lost the windows CD so I went to other means (torrenting, I know I'm a scumbag) to get the ISO of the Windows 7 Ultimate CD and burned Windows 7 to a DVD. Then I put the disk in and it won't boot. It just gives me the error message. I am currently trying to make a bootable USB drive and do it that way but I am doubtful that this will work.
I just finished a build and I'm trying to install Windows 7 onto the SSD, (theres and ssd, an hdd, and then the odd is a DVD drive). the screen only shows "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot device and press a key". The cd for the OS is in the computer.Ive checked BIOS and boot option 1 is the DVD RW and the boot option 2 is the SSD.
I stepped away from the computer for a few minutes to do something and came back moved the mouse so shake the blank screen tired clicking my name in the start screen but my system froze... so I rebooted my pc and came up with that message. So I googled around trying different things unplugging hard drives ect.. no matter what I get that message... so I tried booting into safe mode using F8 but still got the same message... I have ubuntu on a usb and tried booting into that... still get the "reboot and select proper boot device"
