I just installed Windows 7 64bit. I use a Samsung Rant m540 Cell Phone for my internet connection. I can't get high speed on my road so its a lot better than dial up. Any way I've used it for a few years and now I cant seem to get it installed. It works fine on other comps and I had a driver for win xp 64bit that works. I got it installed on the windows 7 and it shows up as the modem and says its working properly but it wont respond when I try to query the modem or connect to the internet. I am pretty sure I just need a driver for the windows 7 for the phone as modem. But Sprint does not have a driver or program which supports it and neither does Samsung which created the phone. I googled for at least 5 hours with no success ive tried a few differnt drivers and no luck.
Is it bad that my cell phone resting place is right next to my external hd? I just noticed too that my bose computer speaker is very close to the hd as well, do these devices have magnets that will negatively affect the hd?
my computer just started asking me to 'format my drive' when i put plugin my sandisk holding my memory card from my phone. i used to be able to plug it into my computer and download my pictures easily now i have this problem.
I have a problem with downloading a file above roughly 80MB it just stops I tried chrome, firefox and opera and nothing works. On Firefox and Chrome the download just stops on Opera the speed changes to unknown and it stops downloading.I don't have a wireless connection I use modem and my net connection should be okay since on my old comp with same net it worked without problem.
I'm running Outlook 2010 with about 5 separate POP 3 accounts. I archive regularly and compact after archiving. After a lot of trouble cloning a new C drive to an SSD, Outlook, along with a lot of other software, began acting strangely. Everything has pretty much been resolved except for the Outlook problem.
For no reason I can isolate, Outlook will suddenly close, giving the message that it had to close and it will now try to retrieve my data. It does so, unless I was in the middle of composing an email - that will be gone! Sometimes, instead of closing, it freezes and says application not responding.
I checked the disk for errors using scan now and it's fine. I've run memtest and it's fine. I've run in safe mode and it just shut down with no comments. In working my way through suggestions on this board, I just ran Sysinternals Process Explorer until the error occurred and went back to normal. In looking at Process Explorer, I'm afraid the actual data is overwhelming to me. However, I'll attach everything I have.
I had some kind of problem with my Ghost 15 installation. I kept giving me this message that it couldn't communicate with my computer? Probably had something to do with getting a new external hard drive for my backlups.
I finally decided to just reinstall it, to reset everything. It told me that I had to uninstall it first. I did that and it still kept telling my I had to uninstall.
I ran Revo Uninstaller. It still kept telling me I had to uninstall it before I could reinstall it.
I finally found the Norton Removal Tool and after running that it would let my reinstall.
When I started it, it said I didn't have permission to run it, even when I logged in as Administrator. I found the instructions that said I had to uninstall it again, run the reset permissions tool, and then reinstall it again.
I think I did that, (it's weird takes me to a page with no active buttons and I have to click at the top of the screen giving permission to install something, then nothing) now it still tells me that I don't have permission to configure Ghost when I start it.
I'm about ready to give up and switch to another program, I've run Ghost for years, but this is crazy. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium, I have the UAC turned off, I don't know what else I can do.
Windows 7 premium came with Norton Antivirus on the laptop i bought well over a year ago. Still says im fully protected and runs its updates and scans.. question is - do i permanently have Norton now or is it due to expire? every site i've been to says about renewing a subscription which i never had to buy in the first place?
I just used CCleaner to remove Norton 360 (trial) from my hp desktop. After deletion it asked me to restart, which I did. Upon restart the PC will not reboot. It gets to the initial screen showing boot options for less than a second and then goes blank, with a cursor flashing in the top left corner. No inputs are being accepted, so I cannot boot to safe mode or the recovery console.
I have an hp laptop, windows 7 ......should I run both windows defender and Norton internet security? Would running both slow my computer? If I should only run one program, which is the best?
on 8th Feb 2013, I noticed my norton security pane was missing from its usual place . It was instead replaced with window defender. When I checked norton , it was turned off but turning it on failed. I have never experienced something like this before. I have tried system restore but this has also failed .
an old guy who's brand new to Windows. Just bought an Acer D257 for my adult son. But he has a serious mental illness and wants zero possibility of receiving porn from the Internet or by email. I'M PROUD OF HIM FOR THAT. I was able to delete Internet Explorer and Firefox (that I'm sure 99.9 percent of you think is absurd! He wants the Acer for writing!) but I can't get rid of Windows Live Mail or McAfee or Norton files.
