Computer Keeps Moving On Its Own?
Jul 13, 2011anybody know what is up with this computer? The screen is bouncing all over. Other threads say it is their mouse but it is not the mouse moving it is the window moving. whether it is explorer or word. It bounces all over the place and it is hard to type because the screen keeps moving. I am running Norton anti virus and windows 7.

Feb 2, 2012I had a computer built for me that includes a new 1TB drive running Windows 7 64-bit for the OS and I would like to move over the drives from my old computer to be used as storage drives. Here's my questions:
1. I have a 750GB drive from my old computer that was running the OS after installing it what is the procedure to reformat it for a storage drive?
2. I also have a 500GB drive from my old computer that was being used as a storage after installing it will my backed up files still be intact or could Windows somehow delete those files?
3. Since my old computer still has a Windows 7 license tied to it I might put in an old drive, load Windows, and either sell it cheap or give it away. When you load Windows with the intention of someone else being the End User do you just quit the install a certain point along the way?

i have two cases laying around the house one now is a kinda non used HP pavilion a1108UK case (can take the mobo and such out) and another is a older custom PC which has no branding at all i seen, and i was wondering if i can take my mobo outta the small dell case and put it into ethier one of those? was also planning to put my Asus Nvidia GTX550ti card in it as i find it a pretty nice performance computer if i can move it's case.

Oct 24, 2011With my current PC, it came with a system restore disc which has Windows XP. I bought the Windows 7 Upgrade disc and done the custom installation where it formats my drive and put on 7. It has been working ok, registered properly.What I want to, when I get my new computer, is move this hard drive (which is about 3 months old) to my new setup. I have heard that sometimes you can just attach the hard drive to the new PC and it will work, sometimes you have to do it all over again with the installation. Now, I have no problem with lots of drive formatting as, all my docments are my external hard drive, along with software setup files.
I have a Windows XP disc with a key, as well as the System restore disc for this PC, so I am assuming, I format this hard drive (if moving it to a new Motherboard doesn't work) install Windows XP with the key, then install the Windows 7 Upgrade disc again. I did speak to Microsoft on the phone and when I gave them my key for Windows 7, they said I had the Full version of Home Premium not an upgrade copy, although it quite clearly says on the box that is an upgrade.Also, the new computer I will be buying should hopefully accept 64 bit Windows, can you go from Windows XP 32 bit > Custom install to Windows 7 64 bit?The lady at Microsoft said, so long as I uninstall Windows 7 from my current PC, I can then reinstall and register it on my new one. Just out of curiousity, how does it know that it's been uninstalled from one PC when I put it on the other PC? Does it just stop updating itself on the first PC as it has been installed on the second? Not that it matters, as the Hard drive will be installed in the new one anyway, so this PC won't have Windows anything on it.

Dec 20, 2012When migrating email/contacts etc, I have frequently moved Outlook PST files from one computer to anohter- not a problem, but I always have to manuually re-enter the email account settins ( email address, reply to, POP/SMTP setting apasswords etc). Tat is moving the PST file is fine, and I can easily set it up udner Accounts Settings/Data File tab ..... but the Account Settings/Email tab is empty. So I enter it manually.
About to other move, , moving from Outlook 2003 on my XP machine to Outlook 2010 on Windows 7. Is there a way to move the settings as well, or must they be manaully entered?

Nov 7, 2011Currently I have a 120GB SSD, which I wish to have my OS on as well as other stuff such as games and what not. I got a 1TB HDD, which my OS is currently on, along with all my other data. I also have three 250GB HDDs that I want to set up in a RAID0 array (made the mistake of not setting it up properly when i first installed the OS).I am not sure how i can go about doing this. I would like a clean install of the OS if possible, but it's not necessary. I would also like to keep most of my data because I have no other drive to store it on.I would like my program files x64 folder on my 1TB, and I read a very nice guide how to set it up as such with tweaking some registry settings, but I can't find that guide for the life of me now (I have no idea what the hell I googled).Also, if I am able to do this OS transfer, am I also able to partition my SSD to just have a section for the OS and a section for all the other stuff? (The OS has so many ugly folders)

P.S. This is off-subject but I was only after thinking of it. My wireless adapter is a fair bit away from my router and it seems to have trouble connecting to the router whenever the two other laptops are connected to it. I would think that this is due to interference because all of the computers are on the same channel, is there any way to change the channel and would this be of benefit to me?
Cursor Moving By Itself?
May 4, 2012I have a latitude d830 running with windows 7 professional(SP1, 32bit). The cursor on my computer has been randomly scrolling by itself and hopping into places where i do not intend to type for a while now. I recently had windows xp removed and replaced with windows 7 because of multiple bothersome issues, but behold the cursor issue remains. My files were backed-up and reloaded to the computer and I now wonder if the "suspected" virus was transferred to my system again.

Jul 25, 2009Ok I have 2 Hard drives:
320GB with XP installed.
320GB split into 166GB (C:) and 132GB (E:)
Installed Windows 7 onto C: (after XP) and am using E: to store all music, movies and photos. The problem is, I'm running out of space and I need to get rid of XP to use the rest of my 320GB. But all the boot stuff is on the XP drive. I have to point my BIOS to XP which then shows a menu with 'Windows 7' and 'An Earlier Version Of Windows'. If I was to format the XP drive now my Windows 7 drive wouldn't boot. I know this because when I point my BIOS to load from the Windows 7 HDD, it says MISSING NTLDR. I thought this was a file that was used before and up to XP so I don't know why Windows 7 wants it.
The problem with this is that I don't know how to get the programs back into the registry. I could back it all up and import it again but I'm sure there'd be something to do with boot, which would cause my new Windows 7 to not boot. I wouldn't like to re-install everything on HDD since I have filled 160GB with programs. If it's neccassary I could do it as I keep every file I download in a single folder that is so big it can take minutes for windows to count :P (I don't keep replicas of the same stuff so if something is in a rar file then i will keep either the inside of it or keep the rar file, thats a bit off-topic.
Moving Win 7 To Different Partition

I am trying to move my Win 7 partition to a different partition.
I have made an exact hard drive replica, using Acronis True Image.
The only problem I'm facing is that when I installed Windows 7, it also made a "System reserved" partition, which I think contains the boot files.
What I want to know is:
How do I restore my exact hard drive replica on my new partition, and let the computer boot up successfully to my new partition?
Moving A OEM Win 7 To Another Laptop
Dec 15, 2009Around 4 weeks ago I purchased Windows 7 OEM media. I then installed this with no problems onto my Toshiba laptop. I now have qualified for a new laptop from work. Will I be able to still use and install the Win 7 OEM onto the new laptop? If this will not work is there any way i can diable the license on the old laptop and use it for the new laptop?

It is primarily a problem in the games that come with Windows 7, so I've been ignoring it, but I can't play Fallout New Vegas because the cursor problem occurs in that game as well. I have a Logitech MX 620 mouse. I have tried to pull out the batteries to see if that helped, but it didn't. I tried to unplug the mouse to see if that helped, but it didn't. I tried installing Setpoint, but it didn't change anything.
