Cannot Get Programs To Open From Startup Bar In Windows
Oct 21, 2012Well, this problem just started, but I can't get any of the programs open on the start bar. I can open open files in my documents, but no other programs will start, such as solitaire or photoshop.

If I go to MSCONFIG I can see that the items are there to be started during startup.

Way Of Modifying UAC-User Account
Apr 24, 2012I know one can change how to allow User Account Control to change its settings (the slider) but is there a way for controlling which programs are always allowed (giving it permission hence never having to see that annoying window for that program)? I do not want to disable it. I just want Windows 7 to know which programs to allow and which to not allow.

Sep 17, 2010Some application(s) on my computer is modifying of MP3 files.When I look at the time and date, on a mp3 folder that I haven't modified in months or years, it shows the current date and the last time it was modified.
This issue is messing up my local and online backup because it is backing up the same files over and over because something is modifying my folder/files.Is there a way to find out which program in modifying my mp3's? I am using Itunes 10 on Windows 7.

Certain Programs Won't Open, Some Do Open Weird?
Feb 26, 2012I have a fairly new HP Desktop PC. I'm running Windows 7 Home 64-bit SP1. Yesterday I noticed that iTunes won't open when I double-click on the shortcut icon on my desktop. I restarted my computer, same issue. I restarted in Safe Mode, same issueI did notuninstall/reinstall because I also can't open my Spybot-SD. Same thing happens. The process is listed in Task Manager, but the programs just don't open. I have not trieduninstalling/reinstalling the programs because I tried doing a System Restore back to early February. The System Restore was successful but the problem persists. Also, Windows Media Player opens, but it opens weird, wherein it freezes on a white square for a few minutes before finally loading. Also, my DVD burning software, DVD Flick, opens but first it freezes on a yellow square.
It's hard to Google this problem because of all the programs involved, and I'm sure there are more programs that won't open that I'm just not aware of yet. I didn't do anything that I can think of that could've caused the problem (and if I had, the system restore would've fixed it). So I scanned my PC for viruses with Symantec and I also scanned for malware with Microsoft Security Essentials and both scans came up clean. Not being able to use iTunes presents a problem because I can't update my phone or make changes to my phone at all.

Creating A Copy Of A File And Modifying The Name Of It Automatically?
Jan 27, 2012In Windows Explorer, while viewing files and folders;
I want to be able to create a copy of the file, with an option when I right click. Instead of choosing Copy at right click, and then again right clicking in Windows Explorer and choosing Paste).
And also my main problem is Windows 7 is creating the pasted file name as "Filename - Copy" in the same folder with the original in it, but I do not want any spaces or even the dash. Can I modify it somehow to create the pasted filenames as 'FilenameCopy' instead of 'Filename - Copy'?

May 28, 2012I used MSconfig to set my computer to always boot in safe mode, but booting in safe mode results in a BSOD. Now I have no way of accessing MSconfig to change it back.

Getting Programs To Run At Startup With UAC?
Aug 23, 2011There are some programs that I need to run at startup, but they tend to need to be run as administrator. I have dragged the shortcut into the startup folder, but this doesn't start the program. Some apps that I need are RealTemp, Gigabyte Dynamic Energy Saver2, and Gigabyte Easy Tune 6.East Tune 6 does seem to start itself at startup, even though it needs to be run as administrator if I start it from it's shortcut, and I don't get a UAC window, so there must be a way to configure startup for these kind of things. The DES2 app also runs at startup, but not always for some reason, so I would like to add it to the startup list to make sure it's running. I have followed the windows instructions for adding programs to startup, and I have also checked the "run as administrator" check box under compatibility, but neither of these seems to do anything.
I'm not sure why you have a "run as administrator" check box if you still get asked if you want to run as admin even when it is checked. Why have a feature that doesn't do anything? I'm not sure that the entire UAC feature is supposed to do anyway, other than annoy you when you do something that microsoft would rather you not do.

How To Change Startup Programs
Apr 22, 2012Before Windows 7 I could simply go to Task Manager, then to the Startup tab to check or uncheck whatever programs I didn't want running every time I turned my computer on. But now with this OS that tab isn't present in TM, and a search of "Startup" doesn't bring up anything.
I got directions telling me to go into folders in Windows Explorer that don't exist, so that dead-ended.

the problem is, when you use MSCONFIG to deselect programs from starting up, you force your computer into "Safemode".
I once used a ms command that allowed me to disable enable all programs that start up with windows, other than MSCONFIG.
It did not force my windows into Safemode.
