Jun 21, 2009Fresh W7rc 64 bit installation and network isn't installed any ideas, the problem is not getting a ip address? drivers are up to date as per board yet still into receiving a IP address?

Asus M4N78 Pro SATA Driver Issue
Aug 12, 2009I just recently purchased an Asus M4N78 Pro motherboard, and was building a system, installed Windows 7RC 64bit and I am running into a bit of an issue. The install went fine and everthing, except for the SATA ports 5 and 6 do not detect the drives attached to those ports. According to teh manual I need to install a driver from the disc, and that is teh problem. The disc apparently will not run under windows 7.
Does anyone happen to know where I could get teh particular driver I need? It would be nice to actually use all six of the boards SATA ports. The Asus website was not much help, nor was their customer service line. According to the manual the chipset is NVIDIA GeForce 8300 .... did a search on their site as well and was unable to locate what I need.

Feb 12, 2012I have a HTPC setup. PC includes an ASUS MB with on-board video and audio, including options for either separated analog 7.1 audio out or HDMI out (among other output options). Current setup routes Audio and Video via HDMI to Pioneer VSX-1020 A/V receiver, and routes video from there to HDTV via another HDMI cable. OS is Win7 Ultimate x64, w/SP1.

When I play audio files, the receiver can fake the signal into all 5 channels (I don't have a sub, so the .1 is not relevant here), so there's no issue of the receiver not accessing the available speakers.
The main issue is this: When I look into the Sound Control Panel, under Playback Devices, the active/default device is ATI HDMI Output. Also listed are Speakers (not plugged in), Realtek Digital Output and Realtek Digitial Output (Optical). I do not have any analog cables plugged in, nor do I have an S/PDIF (optical/coax) connected. The HDMI works, but only gives me the option of Stereo (2ch). When I go to the Configure screen for the ATI HDMI Output, I see a list of Audio Channels, but that list ONLY contains Stereo.

Feb 11, 2013When I go to boot windows, after my motherboard splash screen I get a black screen that says Grub Error 17 and am unable to boot windows.
I thought this was kind of weird since I don't use Linux, but I ran SuperGrub Disk to see if it could find any problems. SGDisk gave me this "BOOTMGR is missing". So I tried following this . After pressing any key to confirm booting from a CD I once again got the Grub Error 17 and was unable to boot from the CD.
I have everything backed up, but I don't know what happened to my Windows 7 CD key and any keyfinder programs that I know of require you to run windows.
if anyone knows a way to fix my MBR only being able to boot a minimal amount of CD's, or if anyone knows how to find my Product Key without actually being able to boot windows, I would greatly appreciate the help. I have been able to boot into Ubuntu, and can access all the files on my hard drive if that makes any difference.

Graphics quality/performance is way too low for the NVIDIA GPU.I tried disabling the Intel HD thing in Device Manager, but all that happened was that the screen went blank, so I restarted my computer, booted into Safe Mode (the screen wasn't blank there), re-enabled the Intel, and then restarted Windows into normal mode (and obviously I still had the problem with Windows not using the NVIDIA GPU.Also, if I go into NVIDIA Control Panel (click the system tray icon and click "Customize which programs use the GPU"), under "Manage 3D Settings", if I add a game to the list of "programs to customize" (in the Program Settings tab) and then click Apply, the game still behaves as if it was using the Intel on-board GPU (as in, nothing changes in terms of quality and/or performance, regardless of the graphics settings). Also, in the Program Settings tab, under "2. Select the preferred graphics processor for this program", the selected setting is "Use global setting (Auto-select: NVIDIA GPU)" and it doesn't allow me to change that (the drop-down list is greyed out).

Dec 23, 2011Whatever this is has really messed up my computer! I can't play any DVDs or any video that uses Flash or Shockwave! I'm getting desperate, I have used Driver Genius Professional to no avail.Intel no longer offers any kind of support, I have tried downloading their general driver but every time it locks up and crashes, I assume for the same reason the Flash and Shockwave does.
