I have a new Acer aspire 5750G all singing dancing comes with every thing except office. I set it up for first time use put some bits on it and then made a big mistake...like a fool i wrongly loaded windows 7 home premium over it instead of the office 10 disc. The desktop nows only shows the recycle bin, no net, no nothing, i can not do a thing with it to put this right.

When surfing there are a load of toolbars at the top of the screen so I've been trying to switch off the ones we won't use as it reduces the usable screen size. Unfortunately I've switched off the toolbar where the option to switch on or off toolbars is situated, ie I can't now turn it back on again!The other toolbar with a 'Tools' drop down doesn't have that option. Now what do I do please?Associated with this, when using XP I was able to have more than one toolbar on the same row - but I can't work out how to do that on Win7

But that's what happened.I thought I was installing the Ubuntu that is used for storage purposes.When I tried to restart my computer it would not restart.I inserted the "Repair disc Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit" and eventually I got my computer to startup.So I am still able to use my computer normally.But my computer now seems to be totally corrupted because all drives are labeled incorrectly and Data1 and Data2 are completely missing. I know this is true because I saw the above info while using the Repair disc Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.It seems that I am stuck with a corrupt computer.What are my options?Is my only option to reinstall windows 7?Or do a backup from an Acronis image file? View 6 Replies View RelatedI have two identical computer monitors running in 1080p each using a NVIDIA GTX460SE video card. I have all the icons on the left monitor (as in, the main one), but had them arranged specially and on all parts of the screen, not just the leftmost area.
When moving home from college for holiday break, I plugged the monitors in backwards (as in, monitor 1 to monitor 2's jack and vice versa) - so I unplugged both and corrected it. At some point, Windows freaked out and alphabetized all of my icons and shoved them over to the left. Now, my ordinary routine for fixing the broken alignment is a simple System Restore, as it does keep the desktop icon locations. However, on each of the 5 restore points I have, it keeps giving me these errors that a certain file couldn't be found in each (not the same one each time).
I'm curious if there's a way to manually grab the desktop icon location out of the system restore backups if that's ALL I need and not the entire restore image. I know the backups are in C:/System Volume Information, but I have NO idea where desktop icon locations are stored... I would have assumed it was in desktop.ini but nope!
I can't system restore at all... and installing the third-party solutions don't help as the icons are already screwed up. If it's just a registry key or file somewhere, in theory I could extract it from one of those backups and use it?

View 6 Replies View RelatedLast night i was playing a game (DmC) on my computer and my cousin came out of nowhere and unplugged everything. (it was a multi plug that was connected to my tv, monitor and computer) When i turned my pc back on: it asked me if i wanted to repair the problem; so i clicked yes. After awhile, the computer restarted, but now it can't seem to start normally anymore, all the safe mode options work, but every time i choose to start it normally; it just goes in an infinite start up loop.It shows the hp logo, then says that it's starting up, shows a black screen with the mouse symbol showing and starts that pattern all over again.

It just continues as a cycle of endless rebooting. I also went into the Bios to make it boot from HD but nothing.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a computer on which the usb devices stop working/receiving power once windows has loaded (they work up untill windows finishes loading). I installed windows on a different disk everything else remained the same, now the mouse and kb work. Is there a known fix for this? If not is it possible somehow to transfer the user settings from one disk to another, so i get the same settings on the new drive perhaps (mind you, no mouse or kb support on one of those windows)?I have tried a lot of windows disk fix things, none of them have any effect, very strange, have never seen this before. Usually i get pretty much everything fixed using google, but this one.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWindows 7 started and once it loaded the desktop it glitched up kind of like the rrod does with the 360 all the programs on my desktop had lil. glitched box's surrounding them and it froze up did it 2 times after rebooting then i booted into safe mode and it booted fine i moved a program that booted with Windows 7 while in safe mode to the desktop so it wouldnt boot with Windows 7 and i don't think that had nothing to do it but it started normal after being in safe mode.

IE9 will try to connect to the internet. And I can't seem to disable them from autostart. I have looked in the Startup folder. It's empty. I've tried msconfig. I don't see anything related to IE9, or MSOffice in there.

I have an older computer hard drive that has XP.I needed something from the old hard drive and hooked it up with the cables from the Windows 7 hard drive and it booted up and ran. I've since gone back to using the Windows 7 hard drive.How do I proceed to add that second hard drive running XP to the new computer so I can have the option of running either OS? I've read through some posts, but they all presume you are installing the OS to new clean hard drives, not have them already installed.Is it as simple as hooking the XP drive into the computer as a second drive and booting it up? Do I need to change some external setting on the hard drive to have it recognized as a slave? Will Windows 7 automatically change the boot to recognize the second OS and allow a choice at startup?

I just want to rid my pc of all the crap on it.I have a toshiba satellite p755d. It won't boot from any kind of media, nor does it seem to recognize it until windows is loaded.I went to the bios to change the boot order but I couldn't find that option anywhere. 1. c:windowssystem32esent.dll is either not designed to run on windows or it contains errors. Try reinstalling etc
2. Windows Live Mail could not be started because msmail.dll could not be loaded.
Have tried
1. reinstall from MS site but says it is already installed.
2. tried to delete Live essentials from control panel asks for permission to proceed say yes but nothing happens.
3. Found a later esent.dll but unable to copy to sys32 folder
4. Have tried logged on as user with admin priv and as system admin account in normal and safe modes
I am having an unexpected shutdown when i run loaded applications like games and all that.
