Kernel Data In-page Error On Custom Build
Oct 9, 2011
I'm getting a kernel data inpage error BSOD on windows 7 ultimate x64. It seems to happen randomly regardless of activity (idle, gaming, video playback) and I'm having trouble finding the cause. The computer will not save dump files. So I've attached a picture of the BSOD, and an event viewer log.
Event viewer log:
- <Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event">

<Provider Name="Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-Power" Guid="{331C3B3A-2005-44C2-AC5E-77220C37D6B4}" />

I have built a few computers over the years and this is the first one that has had an issue that has totally stumped me. I have built it for the parents. Now as far as i can tell everything is fine with the build, but the computer is randomly BSOD,especially when running the WINDOWS VERIFIER, to catch the error (BSOD on startup).I have used a program to analyze the results of the Verifier and this is the result:
On Wed 5/23/2012 9:14:30 AM GMT your computer crashed
crash dump file: C:Windowsmemory.dmp
This was probably caused by the following module: ndisrd.sys (ndisrd+0x266E)
Bugcheck code: 0xC4 (0x40, 0x0, 0xFFFFF9800ED66C50, 0x0)
Error: DRIVER_VERIFIER_DETECTED_VIOLATION

my laptop has been crashing frequently since months ago. sometimes i get bluescreen (kernel data inpage error), sometimes it reboots automatically, and sometimes it freezes and the screen is filled with some grey/black weird horizontal lines and i have to reboot it. i had reinstalled the windows a few times but the prob remains.when i run in safe mode everything is fine.also, everything is ok when i use battery, no reboot, bluescreen, etc...but the prob comes back once i plug in...seems like the prob only occurs when i use the power?

my system has been running absolutely fine for the past year without issues until about 3 weeks ago. For the first time, I got a stop error about kernel data inpage error. it however could not save the dump for some reason.
my system is configured as SSD is the main boot drive for Windows and everything else (program files etc...) is redirected to the E: drive which is my RAID0. I then had the same problem about 2 weeks ago. And now I have just seen it happen properly:
Kernel data inpage error
0x0000007A
NTFS.sys
is what are the key information I can see. what does this mean? how can I identify what is exactly the problem? this is such a critical system, i cannot emphasis enough

I have a samsung laptop RV411. So I closed the cover and then opened it for transfer. However, I did not shut it down. So when I opened it, it turned black and it turned BSOD. It says KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR. So I restarted my PC. Now, I cant get out of the POST. There is 2 available options F2 for setup and F4 for recovery. I pressed both and it went Please Wait... Forever! I used the recovery disk no luck.

I had some BSOD's, they always occured shortly after the login screen appeared. I hoped they would go away, like they did in the past, but my PC kept crashing. I didn't try to solve them, I just booted in another OS, now I booted my windows 7 again and the problem seems solved, but I am curious what was the cause of these BSOD's and I want to know how I can prevent them in the future. I attached a zip file as outlined

When I renstalled windows around 1-2 months ago I suddenly got a Kernel Data inpage error. In the attachments are all the files you will need (minidump and system health report). I had to renstall windows because there was an unremovable virus, before the restallation this problem didn't occur so that gives me a high suspicion of it being a driver problem but I can't find any drivers that need updating.

Yeah so I've been able to fix my dual system on both hard drives problem, but seems like my original problem still persists. Whenever I run fraps, audacity, and warcraft III (warcraft III running by itself doesn't seem to bother anything). I blue screen after 1-2 minutes of recording (sometimes it doesn't, but when it does it does for 3-4 times every time i try).
The error message I get from BSOD is kernel data inpage error, but sometimes the BSOD would just say "a process or thread crucial to the system has unexpectedly exited or been terminated". The error code is always 0x000000004.

This started happening last night while i was playing Borderlands 2, it has happened at idle, playing just about any game in my library, during downloads and just browsing the web. I changed all of my accessible drivers, and it continued to happen, so i moved all of my personal files onto my external HDD. I re installed windows on my SSD (did not reformat) and reformatted my HDD. I re installed my drivers, re-enabled SLI and it ran fine for about an hour, just downloading WoW, and then happened again twice.

I have recently purchased a custom built PC from a company and I have included in it an SSD for the operating system and programs, and a 1TB HDD for storage both are brand new with no data installed. Once I receive the PC I will be installing my own copy of Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. I have read on a number of forums that I need to unplug the HDD before completing the clean install of Windows 7 onto the SSD otherwise the boot partition will install onto the HDD if I keep it plugged in. I cant find any user guides/videos tutorials for this situation so would appreciate it if someone could confirm if its best to disconnect the HDD as I dont want to start taking the side of the case and unplugging the HDD if its not required.

I have not been able to find a straight answer for. Is it legal to buy a pre-built computer store bought and remove the hard drive with windows 7 already on it and put it into a custom built computer? Does it even work? I was wondering because I don't want to pay 200+ dollars for just a hard drive and operating system. kinda ruins the whole idea of a "budget" build.

After some searching I located where to create a custom Paper size in the printer setup. However, when I proceed to scan (via the document feeder, not the flatbed), I still cannot get the newly defined custom Paper Size to appear in the pre-defined list of page-sizes that are available - and that is regardless of which program I'm using - the 'aquire image' from Microsoft Photo Premium, the import via Microsoft Live, or the 'start scanning' in the printer setup.

I'm running Windows 7 64-bit on a custom PC with Pentium Dual-Core 2.50GHz and 4GB RAM and have been having some "low memory" issues occasionally, seemingly due to Firefox hogging up memory.
So I looked at what my paging file settings were. They're currently set as "system managed": minimum 16MB, recommended 6141MB, and currently allocated 516MB. It says in Windows Help that it automatically sets the initial paging file as minimum four times the RAM plus 300MB, and the maximum as three times the amount of RAM. Obviously it hasn't set these parameters. My question is: should I change the settings manually to reflect these recommendations?
BTW: I have less than 1GB on the drive, so would Windows change the settings to reflect this, or does it allocate it separately?

Packard bell PC imedia something, radeon sapphire 5670 HD GPU upgrade, recent (Jan 2012) windows 7 64 bit custom install upgrade from vista 32 bit, during which I backed up all files on a Samsung external hard drive, then did a complete hard drive wipe install of windows 7, then put it all back on using software run by the Samsung drive. Went perfectly as planned. Other than that the PC was stock. One day playing Cod 8, screen inputs failed, then keyboard failed, then funny smell from PC tower, so I switched it off. After analysis, showed to be PSU fail. I took the opportunity to build a better PC, as this one is quite a few years old now.
So I only used the hard drive (WD6400AAKS)
Blu ray reader disk drive, memory card reader drive and Radeon GPU from the old PC
ASUS P8Z68-V LX mobo Overclocked intel i5 processor with artic cooling freezer 13 CPU fan Corsair TX650 PSU Antec DF-30 case with 4 led fans
All cables and such are new, and all plugged in correctly. When turned on the first time, all fans on, leds, and everything started as it should have, but No beep, monitor came on, instead of showing initial boot screen, asus version came up, then tried to boots windows, then just as the circles begging to circle the logo, it crashes, screen turns off, then on again, then back to asus screen, the windows screen crashes like before, then asks me to do startup repair or start as normally - No other options.
Every time I do this, it says it couldn't solve the problem, and restarts, then crashes, then restarts, then goes to startup repair option again. If I select start as normally, it just crashes again like before then loops back to startup repair option again. I have tried all options possible after the startup repair fails, including command prompt stuff, system restores, image restores, hardware diagnostics, basically everything. It either fails, then goes back to the startup repair loop, or tells me there are no problems with the hardware, then goes back to the startup repair loop.
I think my hard drive is corrupt, but signs have led me to believe its not completely corrupt - like it will see all the places and times on my hard drive to use when I select system restore, however after a fair time of trying each time, and with multiple possible restore points, it fails every time. I think all the other hardware is fine, and working as it should. I think some of the windows system files were damaged when the old PC's PSU blew while playing COD (it usually handles COD fine).

I'm curious as to what "build" is working the best for those of you who have OEM computers, such as HP, Compaq, Dell, Sony, etc...
If you have purchased any version of Windows and have built your own computer, then what version of Windows 7 "build" works the best for you?

Ran into issues on build day 2 days ago with crashing driver issues etc. installing drivers was actinglike fliles were corrupt even off the disks.I replaced cables on drives, swapped the Bios for the SATA ports to mimic IDE, installed new version of windows with the Seagate not plugged in. Installed drivers for Mother Board rebooted to Bios swapped back from IDE on the SATA.Puts around a bit no real issues, installed the data drive rebooted and started to install software from steam and origin as well as Windows updates.BSOD a few times,Logged off ran memtest over night passed all 7 tests, ran again on each stick all passed.Windows is freezing trying to install all the updates that is the latest bsod in the log file.the 2tb drive is still uninstalled but seems stable. Not sure what is causing this, I did run CCleaner a few mins ago and it puked a ton of registery errors cleaned them up ran again found more, cleaned now it says it is clean. Here is the zip I am at wits end and do not want to RMA the Seagate if i dont have to but willing to if you all think that is my problem.

I have been facing a wierd problem recently. My desktop monitor turns off itself after a few minutes but the CPU works, I can hear the fan running and see the lights blinking. One thing I noticed is that when the monitor turns off, the Orange light on the CPU stays on which normally just blinks. My PC works normally on safe mode, but the worst part about safe mode is that I cannot work on my software CorelDRAW. Can this be the SMPS problem? because recently my mouse and keyboard inputs were not working because of which I got a USB keyboard and mouse. I have recently installed Windows 7 64bit, but I think that should not cause the problem as I have worked with 64bit Windows before on the same machine.
PC configuration -
Intel Core 2 Duo 4500 @ 2.20Ghz Processor
ASUS P5QPL-AM Motherboard
3GB RAM
No Graphic Card (Maybe inbuilt, not sure)
1TB Hardisk
I checked the Event Viewer and came through a critical error, here is the error log
Log Name: System
Source: Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-Power
Date: 01-Aug-12 5:41:39 PM
Event ID: 41
Task Category: (63)
Level: Critical
[code]....
And I also checked the power settings before and the monitor is set to TURN OFF in 15 minutes when kept IDLE.

I have been having some hard drive issues with my Acer and I'm not sure if they are serious or not. I am not computer savvy and am planning to take the bar exam to get licensed as an attorney in a few weeks and really need my computer for the exam. I am hoping someone can advise me as to whether my problem is serious enough that I need to get another computer to use for the bar exam.

I just built a new computer about 2 weeks ago, and everything seemed fine until recently. I started getting "Kernel-Power" errors, usually when I play Star Wars, the old republic, there is no BSoD instead what happens is that I am doing everything normally, and suddenly i get this streak of multicolored pixels across a black screen and the pc restarts.
My Computer specs are:
500w Corsair PSU.
Sapphire Radeon 6850
i5-2500k
OCZ 60gb SSD
16gb ripjaws DDR3
Asus P8Z68-V LE mobo.
I have the latest bios on my motherboard, Microsoft Security essentials returns clean, no minidump is created even though I have it on.
Also I'm running Prime95 on my pc right now and have been for the past hour, but I can't recreate the error that way.

I just got a new computer about a week ago and Ive notice that its been having this weird problem. Its happened about once or twice a day, the last couple of days.I will be surfing the web or listening to music on itunes and the system will freeze completly to the point where I have to hold the power button down to turn off the machine. On startup I get the screen where it says "windows did not shut down properly.." When I log back in and open the event viewer it shows the same error everytime. "Kernel-Power. Event ID 41. Task Category (63).I changed my power plan from balanced to high performance thinking it was a power issue.I also read through this thread: [SOLVED] Kernel-Power 41 (63) error - Tech Support Forum and I noticed that I also have 2 audio drivers and I disabled one of them.

I have been having this problem for almost half a year now, ignored it at first and then tried to fix it myself - it hasn't happened in a while but as of today it has happened 3 times in the same hour - I have found that the crash occurs every time I try and view pictures I have, I have looked everywhere and can't find anyone else with this same problem. At this point I am completely lost and have no idea what is wrong.I have gotten a blue screen once, but every other time it just completely shuts down and reboots, no blue screen.[CODE]

Ok, my system is slowing down when I do large file transfers (transfer goes from 60M/s to 2M/s after zero io for about 10 min).
Anyway, I am now combing through the Event Viewer + resource monitor and I came across "event 35" with the source kernel-processor-power the text associated says "Performance power management features on process or 1 in group 0 are disabled due to a firmware problem. Check with the computer mfgr for updated firmware" - anyway I have a bunch of these errors.
Googled for 'event 35' and found nothing - anyone have more detail on this event and how to solve it?
