Aug 12, 2012I've been playing PC games on my new laptop for a few months now, all of which can run on Direct X 11. Two games, Saints Row the Third and Civilizations V I run using Direct X 9 mode, which helps me keep my laptop temperature down.Recently, however, I have bought and downloaded a few games via Steam that are older, that only use Direct X 9.0c. When I run any of these games for the first time, Steam will start "installing Direct X...". After that, all of my games run with very noticeable lag. I will lose FPS (going from 70+ to about 20-) every 20 seconds or so. If I perform a system restore to the moment before Steam installed the Direct X, everything starts running fine again.This has rendered half of my games on Steam unplayable because they all need to install Direct X before playing. Jul 20, 2012I've recently installed a new AMD 8150-FX 8-Core processor (Black Edition)Ever since I replaced my old AMD Phenom II 4X 965 Black Edition, with the above mentioned, I've had blue screens.Now this is only happening when I am playing demanding games such as ARMA2, GTA4, Crysis ect ect ect;I also note that it only seems to be happening when I've got the settings to Ultra or highest settings.Now I know that my PC is more than capable of playing today's best games on Max/ Ultra because I was playing with those settings on my old CPU.I'm sure this has got something to do with the new CPU.Below is a copy of what the 'Event Viewer' is telling me:The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck.

GTX 580 Overheating Playing High Performance Games?
Sep 17, 2012i got this problem playing high performance games..When i enter the following games (below) my graphic hits 75 - 85 celcius (what worries me is the world of warcraft... It's only on HIGH and it goes to almost 90 celcius)
World of warcraft (high)
Battlefield 3 (Ultra)
Guild wars 2 (Ultra)
I was reading abit about this problem on google and saw a person telling another one that was having the same problem as me that a PSU could heat up your GPU if it is just under your GPU.. - My PSU is not far from my GPU and the fan on my PSU is almost just up against my GPU so i kinda wonder can a PSU really heat up my GPU that much?My cousin got a very tiny case for his pc, he got a gtx 560ti and hits 65 - 70 celcius and goes 50fps in stormwind with 60+ players around him and 200 - 250fps outside stormwind. in stormwind i got 20 fps and in world i got 60 - 100 fps. I got a Evga GTX 580 1534MB myself and should be alot better then the gtx 560TI.. He also runs 20 - 30 fps higher then me in Guild wars (60 - 90fps) i am running 30 - 50fps..

Mar 9, 2012I play a lot of games that are considered kinda mainstreamed and the hardware requirements are kinda low. But the problem I am having is that after I exit the game the CPU utilization remains high and I don't know why? It leaves the PC running sluggish and I'd have to restart PC if I want to start a new game. The only thing I would have running in the background is WINAMP.
My system specs:
C2Dou e6550 2.33 OCed 2.5
DDR2 4GB
4870 512GDDR5 @ 1920x1200res
Windows 7 64bit home premium is on a SSD32GB
and a 300GBmaxter for storage
And the games I experience a hang after exiting are:

League of Legends
Global Agenda
COD Black OPS
COD MW2
And a side note I have the "Paging File" disabled and same thing goes for the "back up feature", the automatic defrag setting is also unchecked.

Feb 9, 2012i have heard a lot of my friends saying that they are unable to play high resolution and high definition games on their pc and told that they are on a low budget to buy a graphics card.here is a solution for that:there is a software named 3-d analyzer available in the internet which acts as a virtual graphics card for playing games. you can enter the graphic card needed from the 4 available graphic cards available and then you can get the attributes of that graphic card..if fine tuned,you can play games at the range of a 128mb ram virutal graphic card on your non graphic card pc. note:graphic intensive games,that requires atleast 512mb of graphics memory can't be played through 3d analyzer if you don't have a graphic card,but you can try running it if you have a 256/128 mb card. steps for using the 3-d analyzer software, *first download the file from here, *then extract that software and open the software, *then,select the exe file of the game that you want to run, *choose the select option, *then you can choose the attributes the options you require to play the game,*the attributes may be pixel shader or disable rendering in the game or emulation or some other options specified, *then,enter the device id and the vendor id for the graphics card you need from the available graphics card on the right.*i would suggest the ati radeon 9800pro to run most of the games like fifa 08/09 or prince of persia two thrones/sands of time, *then choose the run option and then i assure that the game would run for you at a decent/playable speed. note:1.if it shows any error that a file is not found pls reinstall the software.2.if the screen turns black/blank then play with the options in the s/w, by trial and error method,if fortunate,may be,you'll be able to run your favorite game.3.if pixel shader/shader version x.x not found,then select the appropriate shader model and run the game. all the best..happy gaming..if any queries post it below.how to: use 3d analyzer video at Internet

Mar 22, 2011I just installed windows 7 ultimate sp1 - Like the title says I'm seeing 35% cpu usage with nothing going on. I googled around and ran traces to see which driver it was, turned out the ahci driver was doing it. The USB driver showed similarly high latency but that can be delt with later. Most forums recommend upgrading your drivers but this problem has stayed constant both with microsoft's stock drivers for everything and after running windows built in search for drivers even after I manually grabbed the latest drivers for everything. url...BIOS is up to date4 GB RAM - Corsair something or otherEVGA Geforce 8800 GT450W psu1 DVD burner (sata)5 hard drives (sata) plugged into all but the first sata port because that caused nothing but headaches for me. Update - switching from AHCI to IDE in BIOS fixed the problem.

Jan 17, 2013A standby machine that I have is having trouble starting. When first turned on, it will attempt a start, drive lights fans etc come on then within 3 seconds, go out and repeat. This does this for about 5-6 iterations and then starts normal and will run until turned off. This system has one HDD, one DVD drive, MB graphics, so I don't think there is much of a load.

Nov 22, 2012I'm having some strange problems with my PSU. My computer went black last night while I was playing GTA IV. After some research on the web, I came to a conclusion that my PSU died. I attempted the paperclip trick with no success - fans didnt do anything. I was about ready to start shopping for a new one, plugged everything back into places, when I saw a red 115V/230V switch on the back. I switched it from default 115V to 230V and tried the paperclip test again. This time the fan on the back of the case (not PSU) started spinning, and lights on the front and the green light on CD-ROM lit up. I plugged the 24 pin connector back into the motherboard, and hit the on switch (still with 230V), and the same thing happened.From what I described above, what do you think has gone wrong with my PC? Apr 17, 2011I replaced my power supply and now I get a 0x80070035 error when trying to map my network storage server. I've had this mapped for over a year, and usually just need to enter the password to re-connect after a re-boot. I've tried disabling the firewall, anti-virus, file and printer sharing, etc. I looked for the extra network entries that others have said to delete, but I don't have any.
This computer is running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. The network storage server is running Windows 7 Professional 32 bit. From the 32 bit machine the 64 bit machine shows up, even in explorer.
From the 64 bit machine the 32 bit does not show up except under the Network and sharing center, selecting "see full map" shows both machines.
I can't see how changing a power supply could cause a problem. I tried going back to a restore point from last week in case a "windows update" caused the problem, which did not show up until the latest re-boot, but that did not help either.
High CPU Usage, Low Fps, High Latency?
Jun 8, 2011Since Jan-Feb of this year I have encountered the following issue while trying to play games on my laptop.
Abnormally High CPU Usage
Extremely low FPS - After 5-20 Mins of play.
Extremely High latency to servers - from 300 - 900 after 5 - 20 mins of play.
The thing is all of these started 1 year after I been using this laptop, after a full year of everything running flawlessly all these issues kicked in after I performed a clean install in Jan., I even performed one in Feb. and one 3 weeks ago

Nov 5, 2009Through a clean install I switched to Windows 7 last week. Today being the 6th day since I switched, the computer has frozen 4 times. Of the 4 times, one was just a sudden power down without a proper shutdown.
Through event viewer, the log suggested an error dealing with power supply.
Since I've noticed that multiple PCs on different processors are seeing the same error, I would like to know if there have been any fixes released for this yet.

Upgrading Video Card And Power Supply
Apr 8, 2012My brother needs a video card but me being the smart one here. I got his info from dxdiag and I need a recommendation for two things , a video card and power supply. His current power supply runs at a max of 250w and it seems low, mine being 500w so its the right thing to upgrade in order to get a video card. keep video card recommendations "single slot" only since I have no idea how to hook up a video card to a power supply. Single slot ones are simple.
