View 2 RepliesMy computer has never been the fastest (Compaq Pressario CQ56), and due to a recent issue with my McAfee Firewall where by it had turned itself off and would not come back on?I have since run subsequent Anti-malware and virus scans which are all coming up clean, however the computer is still horrendously slow when using IE. Internet Explorer is continuously freezing up, and saying it is not responding, after which I have to recover the webpage.....waiting an eternity for it to do so. Even clicking on a new link results in a wait of between 20 - 50 seconds.

The problem is when i try and open things like "explore windows 7" or close/signout and exit msn live or things like that. it doesn't open or sign out that programme, and just opens the win32 folder in windows explorerhat is it doing, and why is it doing it? its been doing it since i got the laptop, acer say its software and not their problem. But it only does it on mylaptop, my pc running win 7 is fine.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have autoplay completely disabled. I realize that Windows Explorer (WE) will open if a new dvd, usb drive, etc is connected/inserted.
But 'I open' all of the WE windows I use but "Windows 7 64 will close that WE window if the thing is removed, even when it did NOT create/open it"!
how to disable this 'automatic' CLOSING of WE by Win 7?
I'm running Windows 7 on a Dell Insprion laptop and using dual monitors. The desktop is frozen with no response from either the mouse/keyboard. I can use the startup, internet and other items in the taskbar.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI am having a nightmare with my windows 7 64 bit home edition. It is running extremely slowly. I have lost the internet connection and the windows firewall has turned off and cannot be turned back on. Whenever I boot up i get the message "failed to connect to a windows server" The event viewer log is also unavailable. I have established that my internet is working on other machines. I have also attempted to reset winsock in safe mood. However this has not worked.I've had the system for about 9 months with no major problems. I have McAfee and have run windows defender and adaware so I am pretty sure it's not malware.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit that will not connect to the internet. I can ping websites and get a reply, but Internet Explorer just hangs and I get Not Responding in Task Manager. I have ran Malwarebytes, AVG, and Microsoft Security Essentials. None of these show any viruses. I tried installing Microsoft Fix It, but it would not load. I get the same results if I boot in Safe Mode with Networking.
View 14 Replies View RelatedMy Acer Aspire running Windows 7 and using an ethernet cable can't find an internet connection. It was working fine then I downloaded a pre-loaded version of Microsoft Office 10 suites and the next time I tried to get online the connection was gone. I didn't download the Office from the internet so I can't imagine it is a virus but I don't know what could have happened.
View 3 Replies View RelatedGot a problem with IE. I get a window saying that IE has a problem and gives an option to let the internet find a solution. This does not seem to help any. I can get out of it and keep going , but the same window will keep reappearing.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWindows 7 Pro, 64-bit. Windows Explorer issue, not Internet Explorer. In my folder tree, there was a folder named "Documents" which contained no information at all. Note: I am not referring to the Libraries folder named "Documents!"All of my files are in custom-named folders, each of which is preceded by my 3-letter, initials caps. But, after deleting that redundant, empty folder named "Documents," Windows added a new bizzarre folder which I cannot get rid of. It has no information in it; it has no other right-click options except "Expand," and clicking that option doesn't do anything at all. There is no information in that folder.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an issue I've never been faced with. Have a coumputer running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. There is no internet explorer icon in the start menu or anywhere else. I installed IE9 and rebooted the machine, still no icons. I looked in prorgram files and program files (x86) and each have a folder for internet explorer.....but neither have a exe file. I went into control panel and clicked on programs and features and then turn windows features on and off. IE9 is listed there. I removed the check and applied. It goes through the motions of uninstalling but when it's done it says it could not remove it all. I rebooted but when I went back in IE9 was still listed and checked. I tried to uninstall it with Revo Uninstaller Pro.......but it does not show IE9 as being installed

View 1 Replies View RelatedI changed the default rule for outgoing traffic so that erything that doesn't match a rule is blocked. That's okay, nothing can go out now. Then I add program rules allowing needed softs to access the internet freely. This works fine too, except for Internet Explorer. I can't get iexplore.exe or even ielowutil.exe access the internet without adding a rule for TCP 80.
If someone could explain it, I really don't understand why IExplore requires 2 rules to work while the first rules should allow him unrestricted access.
