I've upgraded my desktop system from XP to Vista then to Win 7 Home Premium and now have the infamous User.V2 profile which I would like to get rid of. I've searched for information on how to do this but all of the information I've found is way above my pay grade.
1) Is it OK to remove the User.V2 profile?
2) Simple, but complete, step-by-step instructions on how to to remove it?
This is a home system, I share some files with a Win 7 laptop via a wireless home network but do not connect to any other networks.

I have created a useraccount via CONTROL USERPASSWORDS2 in windows 7 called SharedAccess, this will be for anyone attempting to login to my machine to try and view files etc etc. I have given it a standard User Account, however i want to remove the user from the login screen so i don't have to click my main username for me to be able to log in. Firstly, have i gone about the right way fo creating this account? Secondly, if yes, then can i remove just one username from the login screen but keep the account on my Laptop for shared access purpose?

Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on HP DC7600.I was really surprised that this old Microsoft issue/problem somehow got carried over all the way from the bad old days to new/shiny Windows 7.I have a main User account with Administrator privileges that is my 'daily driver'.I recently created a second User Account for Test purposes.[I'm a tech and need to try things sometimes].A week or so ago I "deleted" the User Account using the proper method...the way MS would have me to, in the UAC settings Control Panel. Today, due to another issue I am now having [never had before] I got to wondering if the old issue of ever-present zombie User Accounts was in this rig. YES it is. Checked into Documents & Settings and Registry and the account is still there in one state or another. How do I COMPLETELY eradicate that Account and all its traces?

For some reason I can no longer edit user account information. The following options do not work:
Add or Remove User Accounts
Create an Administrator Account
Create an Account
Create Standard User Account
Turn Guest Account On / Off
All the options appear, it's just when I click on them nothing happens?! I'm logged in as Administrator, I even unlocked the hidden Administrator account and am still running into the same issues. As far as answers go all I can find is the typical, "do a system restore", "reinstall Windows", crap like that. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium x64.

I installed Win 7 64 and loaded all programs. Everytime I create a standard user account all programs that are installed on my administrator account transfers to my 2 standard user accounts and the guest account also. Even when I try to delete a program in my guest account or standard user accounts it deletes them in every account. What am I doing wrong.

How to delete program entries from a specific user start menu?
PC's have multiple user accounts, for designers and administrators within the business. Designers do not need access to Sage Accounts so I want to remove it from their start menus and administrators do not need access to dreamweaver and thus I want to remove it from their start menu.

I am using LG DVD ROM on my desktop computer. Unfortunately Now there are some problem with it.too large to explain here hardware problem. But the real problem arising at start up of windows 7. In normal cases as i press CPU button to start computer light on DVD ROM glow for 5 times , a beep sound and after that there is screen asking for which OS you wan to use(Xubuntu 11.04,windows 7).But if that light glow unexpected way then different start up screen appear. A white screen appear with large word CONSISTENT with on it. I think this is due to problem of DVD ROM. If i remove that then this issue should solved. So finally the thing i want to ask that is Does it require to make any change in setting of BIOS or computer to remove DVD ROM if no then i am going to unplug it. I just want to remove this from CPU so that it start up properly. My plan is to remove all cables inserted in DVD ROM and leave it there as it is(don't open bolts). As i have seen there are two cables that connects computer to DVD ROM i will unplug both of them.

I bought a used computer & changed the old name to my name & deleted the old log-in names. The old name still shows under C:\Users file, along with other names, such as All Users, Default, Default User, and Public, but my name does not show up anywhere except under Libraries. Also, all the names in the C:\Users files has a lock on them except for Default and Public. How to I completely remove the former owner's name from my files? And, why do the other files show a lock on them?

I had a Dell Laptop with Win7 64-bit. But there was a problem and it wouldn't boot anymore. The problem is that there are some very important files in that laptop. So, I got that hard drive out and connected it to my Toshiba (Win7, 32-bit) as an external drive. I was not able to access the 'user' files from the dell. When I tried to open it, I got an error message 'access denied'. So, I went to properties --> Security --> Advanced, and changed the permissions to everyone. Now, when I open the folder 'Documents and Settings', it opens the folder on my Toshiba, and not the actual files that are on that hard drive. I need to get those files out of there.

My computer after I type in my password to log in says that my user profile cant be updated. I can access it in safe mode which I am currently on. I have already installed malware bytes and run it in addition to combo fix. Maybe I did something wrong while using either of those programs and they did work correctly but nothing has changed.

So, I'm working on this .bat script.I'm using NOTEPAD to edit from command prompt.I ALT-F, ALT-S to save and ALT-F and ALT-X to exit. Then run my script.I ALT-F after almost every line I change (very anal). Make a few changes, exit NOTEPAD and rerun the script. After half a dozen changes/ tests, I go back into the .bat script and it is NOW back to what it practically was when I started. TWO whole sections of code (non- contiguous) are missing from it. Part of a FOR /F loop was cut off.I haven't had a computer error in a heck of a long time.

I'm trying to allow a user account on my win 7 home laptop admin rights on my win 7 professional desktop so i can send it admin level commands over command prompt and generally do more when file sharing.
Both computers have an account called "Me" on them with exactly the same password.
The computer running win 7 professional is called ME-DESKTOP, and the computer running Win 7 home is called ME-LAPTOP. I heard that setting the usernames and passwords to the same should work on some other forums, but i get the feeling that was referring to computers both running win 7 home, as it has evidently not worked here.
I think the problem is I've got to add \ME-LAPTOPMe to the administrators group on ME-DESKTOP but i can't find how to as when i try and add a new location it won't find ME-LAPTOP for me to select even though ME-LAPTOP has network discovery turned on.

Steam recently messed up on me last week. Now, I have to wait around five minutes to log in. If I click on anything while logging in, Steam will crash. The same thing happens while launching a game. I've looked all over and have found several ways to fix it, but none of them work. People tell me "Well don't click on anything and it wont crash and you'll be able to log in or play your game." That isn't the case. It never did that before, there is no reason it should do it now. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Steam, that did not fix the problem. I know most of the time when you uninstall something, it doesn't completely get rid of every file that it created or it installed. Most of the time, it just gets rid of the files that it installed in "Program Files" and/or "Program Files x86" and I want to erase everything, so I can try to do a clean installation of Steam. I'm talking about if there is any files left in my Registry or Appdata folder, I want them removed. So does anybody know of files that stay on your computer after it uninstalls? I already deleted a Valve folder that stayed in my Registry after uninstall. It was located at HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareValve

I have a windows 7 Pro OS running which was loaded with one HDD attached. Windows was running fine. I installed a secondary HDD to allow some backup; it was able to be installed, fully formated and was healthy. I tried to backup but was told by windows it was not large enough so I uninstalled by accessing device manager from inside computer management and clicking uninstall and confirming device removal. There was then, no visible indication that the secondary drive was installed. I shut down and physically removed the secondary drive and tried to reboot but all I could get was "A disk read error occurred. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart". So I reconnected the drive and it boots fine. My question is, what do I need to do to be able to disconnect the secondary drive without getting that error?

I just bought this about two hours ago. If even that long. & it seems that when my built in webcam is turned on if I don't take pictures routinely it logs me off. It only happens when the cam is on. Is there a way to stop this? I'm trying to play around with the options and what not but its quite difficult to do when the computer keeps logging my account off. Its Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit. Its made by HP. The box says "Pavilion dv5. dv5-2074dx."
