Oh and is it appropriate for me to use this topic to ask another question regarding explorer.exe as while i am inside a folder i delete (by choosing delete from the context menu in the tree view) while inside that folder on this particular laptop PC explorer. always crashes, collect information, sends it and restarts explorer. I have not experienced this problem on any other pc running any version of windows 7, oh and the same happened with build 7264 x32 and the current install of build 7600 x64.
I got a new hard drive for my HP Pavilion DV6T-6000. Installed windows 7 ultimate and a bunch of drivers from HP's drivers section for my computer and I still have this unkown device. It wasn't there on my old drive so something isn't right here.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am in the process of configuring a new HP Z820 workstation. This thing is a beast and absolutely love the power. Just recently I started getting a strange device connection sound playing at login/startup. Just after the windows start up chime I hear the second device connect sound. I have nothing connected differently than I did a few days ago but all of a sudden this morning I now hear it. No USB HD's or flash drives connected.
I was just wondering if anyone knew of a way to figure out what Windows was connecting at login? Heard Event viewer mentioned somewhere but no idea how to use this or where to look.
During the installation process of Windows 7 it is possible to load drivers, e.g. the downloaded SATA, LAN and Graphics drivers for a specific motherboard (MoBo ASUS P7P55D).However, these files are compressed zip files and Unzipping delivers a set of folders with in each a number of files. Which are the device drivers?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI got a new Dell Studio XPS 13 laptop a week or so back, loaded Windows 7 RC and everything worked fine after a bit of fettling here and there. On Tuesday or Wednesday I had a problem where the laptop locked up while using a Logitech USB Radio mouse. Thinking the mouse caused the lockup, I disconnected it and have been using the touch pad since and no lockups. So far so good.
Then today I plugged in a set of Logitech USB headphones for Skype and I got an 'unknown device' error. I tried with other USB items, ADSL modem, memory stick, all had the same problem on both USB ports and nothing I did would solve the problem. Much googling and a search of this forum again came up with nothing I could use.
I then had a flash of brilliance - I figured it must have been the mouse that started the problem when the laptop froze and somehow something was blocking the USB useage. I plugged in the mouse whereupon it loaded up the software and worked fine, and now everything else loads up and works OK too!
I can't explain it, I'm just a programmer and don't really understand computers but if it helps anyone else in the same frustrating situation, there it is.

[code] So I get the Comp built, and did not have a windows iso yet, so I put Ubuntu 11.04 on it. When I tried to put on Windows 7 64-bit, via live USB, I get to the Install Windows button (very early in the process), before it gives me the error LOAD DRIVER: No device drivers were found. Make Sure the installation media contains the correct drivers, and then click OK.So I can browse for drivers, and I have downloaded the Windows drivers for the Sata and AMD 970 chipset from Gigabyte, but the install windows screen does not pick them up. I hit browse and then find the folder i saved them in and hit ok, yet it finds nothing. My bios have been changed from AHCI to IDE with no luck.

I've checked Device Manager, there's that exclamation sign next to USB Audio Device, but when I click Update Drivers, it just says that Drivers are Up To Date. I've tried installing Realtek HD Audio drivers instead, but they don't work - I can see in Control panel that they are installed, but they are nowhere to be seen on Windows, and didn't change anything after reboot. View 3 Replies View RelatedHaving a problem with an unknown device under Other devices. I tried scanning for hardware changes and updating the device but keeps coming up with no driver found. As well as the fps of a game I play has dropped significantly from where it was a day ago and get prompted the game is having trouble recognizing my graphics card this has never happened before.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI had an "unknown device" show up in devices and printers a couple days ago. It was also listed in device manager and said it was a USB controller. Everything worked and I've not added any new hardware. I have 2 partitions both with Windows 7 and the error showed in both. I've found that others were having the same issue, some needed drivers, some said cables needed replaced. Before I got serious with the troubleshooting, I read up a little and found a forum that said you should shut down then disconnect the power cord, wait a couple minutes then power up. Sometimes the motherboard needs to reboot and the devices will be reloaded or reassigned as they should be. It worked for me, it was an easy fix to an annoying problem.

I have the bios set to boot from CD/ROM first, Hard disk second, and USB third. The bios reads the hard drive as the correct 1 TB that it is. The "OnChip SATA Type is [Native IDE]." I have checked and double checked that things are plugged in correctly, but do tell me if its still possible I did something wrong. I have also tried booting with a copy of Windows XP that I had laying around but that gave me an error about "unable to partition drive."
