I recently re-installed windows and am now trying to install the DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010). All goes well, it installs everything, but as it finished I get this error: I have tried redownloading, using other installers and updating my graphics drivers. Nothing will work. It's probably worth mentioning that the first time I tried installing, about a week ago, my computer totally froze in the middle of the install and I had to force restart.

I'm working on a client's laptop, compaq Presario CQ57, 2gb ram 250 GB HDD.
I installed a new harddrive and installed a new copy of Win 7 Home Premuim x64 After it reboots, it just hangs in the welcome screen with the Windows logo.
I reboot via Windows 7 repair disc and run C: chkdsk /r and I get this message "disc check error 766f6c756d652e63 3f1"

WIN 7 installs a-ok to Seagate 500GB Sata HDD when drive is direct connected to main board using SATA data and power cables. Problem is, WIN 7 fails to find the same drive when the drive is installed into a KingWin removable drive bay. Drive shows a-ok in setup (BIOS). Ubuntu or Mint Linux installs a-ok onto same drive in the KingWin removable drive bay.

SO I just popped my new 120gb SSD into my netbook, and have just bought a 8gb flash drive and made it bootable for windows 7/8/ubuntu (i downloaded all 3 for fun)my problem is with mounting the files. I try the good 'ol drag and drop the files to the USB drive, and the transfer ALWAYS gets halted by 'install.wim' inside the windows source files. the transfer completely halts on whatever mb was remaining. very frustrating.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A-215, all original hardware, that I was trying to do a restore on yesterday before I gave it to my friend. Well it was nearing the end of the installation progress, but had seemed to have stalled, when the computer got unplugged. That was very bad because the battery in it is shot and it will only run on AC powerSo it shut off during the install. I start it back up and I get this error:"The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered and unexpected error.Windows installation cannot proceed. To install Windows, click "OK" to restart the computer, and the restart installation."

I am trying to install windows 7 ultimate x64 on a new build, I am getting the error in thread title when it begins to install. I've scoured this forum to see what others had similar issues and tried the fixes. I tried with one stick of ram, tried re-burning the iso, i've used 3 different discs one 32 bit the other 2 x64. The funny thing is, I have installed ubuntu 10.10 succesfully from a usb flash drive, but could not install ubuntu from a disc. The ubuntu cd was not a burnt copy but a legit disc i ordered from canonical. the windows install wizard lets me create partitions and delete them, it even looks like it tried to format the hard drive because when i go to attempt to install again evidence of the previous failure is there as a system and primary partition. since the 10.10 installation from flash drive went without a problem i do not believe there is a problem with the hard drive. the dvd drive is sata and is connected properly.
my system info is as follows
amd athlon II x4 630 cpu at 2.8
4gb ram
asus m4a78lt-m motherboard
wd caviar black 640gb HD sata
lite-on dvd multi recorder sata
ati xfx 512 mb video card
my boot settings go to the hdd first and i tried using the popup menu to boot from disc, for some reason it looks like it has a problem writing from the dvd drive to the hard disk.

Been getting this error for the past few days. I have tried just about every recommendation I've seen on this error; Ive gone through 8 sticks of RAM, multiple ISO's and burns, USB install, different DVD drives, removing all extra USB devices, 2 video cards, multiple HDD's, canceling the install before it errors out and then restarting, all without luck. Anybody have any other ideas? Using a Maximus IV Extreme Z, no overclock.

I am trying to install Windows 8 x86 on my 2-year old Acer Aspire One netbook. After the screen that says "Setup is Starting," a message comes up telling me that a "Required CD/DVD Device Driver" is missing and that I must find the driver file before continuing setup. Being a netbook, my machine doesn't have a disk drive.

No info about this error and still can't find a way to install Windows 7.
First my configuration :
- Asus Maximus Gene 3 with latest BIOS
- Core i5 760
- 4 * 4 Go DDR 3
- GTX 570
- 120 Go SSD.
(new configuration assembly by hand)
Second the error :
Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the case. To fix the problem:
Insert your Windows 7 installation disk and restart you computer.
Choose your language and click next.
Click "repair" your computer.
If you don't have the disk contacts your administrator or your pc vendor.
File Windowssysytem32bootwinload.exe
Status: 0XC0000001
Info: The selected entry couldn't be loaded because the application is missing or corrupted.
I've tried to install it from DVD (retail), and 2 different USB Key (with official usb key maker, from Windows 7 x64 via vmware on mac) : Got the same error
Tried to use only 4 Go of Ram : Same Error.
MemCheck via Ubuntu Live USB : No Error on RAM (all four passed)
Tried to format and copy install files on SSD : Still failed.
Tried another hard drive (250 Go SATA) : still failed.
Booting from Backtrack/Ubuntu live usb.
XP Pro x64 is installing fine.

At the file expansion stage, error code 0x80070570 appears and my installation fails. I installed 7048 from a DVD burned image 2 weeks ago and it worked fine. Downloaded 7057 and durned the .iso to DVD and when trying to install to formatted partition this error appeared. Since then I can't re-install 7048 either! This is driving me crazy, I've tried different DVD drives, re-burned the .iso's at slow speed, but no luck.

In doing a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate (32 bit), an error appears when it gets to "Expanding Windows Files". Error 0x80070057. Had a look to see if any others had the same problem and many did. I've tried what others have suggested including wiping the hard drive etc etc. Now the strange thing is I have installed Windows 7 Ultimate (32 bit) (same as the one above) already, on the same laptop, with the same hard drive and everything and it installed without a problem!!

I have just installed windows 7 on my Asus x58l laptop and the keyboard doesn't work properly. The only keys that work are AEIOU but put them in this format: This happened even during the setup stage when asked to input a computer name so I just called it .*Then when I did some of the windows updates and restarted it as required it worked ok. Then, I continued with the other updates and it happened again and continues to do so now.*I have checked the keyboard settings, the regional and language settings and the device driver settings and these are all ok.*

I am attemtpting to install the win 64bit 7 RC on a brand new build. I am using a USB stick as my install media. The install boots, although it takes a VERY long time to get from when windows begins to load the setup files to the place where I have issues (about 15 - 20 minutes). Where the install crashes, is instantly after I choose "custom Install" and kicks back a 0xE000100 error, which is a general media error code.If I use the exact same USB thumbdrive on my 2+ year old Dell Optiplex 320 (which is a piece) not only does it get past the error point, but it gets there in about 2-5 minutes versus 15-20. It looks like the issue above crashed in the step directly before choosing the install partition - It never gets to the point were I can choose what drive or partition I want to use, but on the optiplex it does, and this is right after clicking "custom install" were my new unit crashes.
My Specs:
ASUS M4A79T Deluxe with Newest BIOS flashed
ATI Phenom II x4 955 Deneb 3.2 AM3 Black Box Edition
MSI R4890-T2D1G OC Radeon HD 4890 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16
OZC Gold DDR3 1600 Dual Channel 2GBx2
250 GB Western Digital SATA HDD
40GB Samsung SATA HDDx2
80 GB Western Digital SATA HDD

I'm having problems installing Windows 7 on my new PC. I just build the computer using these parts... Not sure if that matters, but there it is. I have set up the two 500GB HDDs in a RAID-0 (the install can see the drive, so I do not think that is the problem). I purchased an upgrade version on Windows 7 Professional 64 bit through a cheaper-than-dirt college program (only $30. And yes, it is legitimate.) This gave me an ISO image which I burned to a DVD.
I am trying to do a clean install of Windows 7 as the first and only OS on my new system. For whatever reason, when I try to do the install, I get a 80070570 error and the install fails (at around 5% into the "Expanding WindowsFiles" stage). I assumed, with the aid of some other forum topics, that this was likely due to a bad DVD burn... so I made a bootable Flash drive and tried that... same thing.

I was having problems with a computer with a win 7 ultimate installation. Ran Spinrite and found errors, they were corrected. When trying to reboot - something was wrong. So decided to do a clean install from the original disk. This is the same disk used for the previous clean install.Once disk started and accepted the terms of service choose Install - Custom and formatted the drive... really wanted a clean install. After the format chose next and the install seems to start normally. During the "Expand Windows Files"?, I think that is what it says the following error comes up...Windows cannot install required files. Make sure all files for installation are available. 0x80070079.

I'm doing an upgrade from 32 bit XP to 32 bit Windows 7 on a Dell Dimension 8300 desktop. I've run the upgrade advisor. The desktop has 2 hard drives and a RAID controller configured in Stripe(RAID 0). I bought the Windows 7 Home Premium family pack (3 installs) and did the XP to Windows 7upgrade on two laptops; so I think the disk is okay. When I start the upgrade for a clean install on the desktop I get a "f1 to retry boot f2 for setup" message from the BIOS indicating that it does not seem to recognize the Windows 7 install disk in the CD. I've check the CD reader and it seems to read the files without a problem. I can start the Windows 7 install within XP but that does not work for the clean install, I need to start from the boot. There is a second DVD ROM drive on the system but that does not work either.
