It's conflicting with my 7.1 sound card... Is there a way to disable it and enable it?
Also if i were to remove the IDT High Definition Audio Codec - Speaker and Headphones and Communications Headphones does that mean i won't have sound on my computer when i want to use the computer speakers and not my headphones?
I installed Windows Tweaks V4.0 and now I can no longer change my settings in Windows 7. For example, After exiting Windows Tweaks, my notification icons had all disappeared. When I tried to re-enable them, Windows 7 said my network admin had disabled my ability to make changes to my PC via Group Policies. My PC is in my home, not on a Network and I AM the Admin, yet I am locked out. I have Windows 7 Home Premium so I do not have a 'Group Policy Manager' program. Also, I can not disable the 'Group Policy Client' Servicesa either. I restored back to before I installed Windows Tweak and Windows Tweaks is gone but the policies remain and I am unable to modify anything. Is there a way aroound this without re-installing Windows 7 from scratch?
i had driver corruption (original thread HERE)The current problem is that I'm unable to use the equalizer on my audio card.I am forced to "Disable all sound effects" in order to get any sound (including the driver's test sound) to play. The sound plays fine, but this disables my equalizer. When i first built my PC everything was fine. but now, when i uninstall drivers, reboot, and reinstall drivers from the MOBO CD it is either detecting the wrong one or there is some other issue i'm unaware of. [code] i am very certain that the ATI HD Audio device used to say "RealTek Digitial Audio" or something like that. uninstalling and reinstalling drivers - or updating to the latest Vid/Aud drivers has not helped.(for those people that intend to be helpful but don't know there are instances where the video driver is actually responsible for the audio device, rather than the audio driver)
When I connect my laptop to TV through HDMI cable, I get both video and audio from it to play on TV. And if I connect speakers to the headphones output I can't hear sound in speakers, the HDMI audio is still playing on TV. Is it possible somehow to disable the audio on HDMI so only the video will pass? Or maybe to make the sound from headphones output to play audio as well?
I get a constant buzzing sound, especially when I play WOW. I was told to change my sound acceleration to standard, or even turn it off completely, to eliminate the buzzing. I can't seem to figure out how to edit it though, since when I run the dxdiag there is no slider that comes up to adjust anything.
i've a problem with srs premium sound driver. infact i format my samsung rf511 s01, then i install realtek driver from the support site of samsung (Assistenza per NP-RF511) but srs sound premium doesn't returned...and i want it because with it the sound is more powerful! how can i take it?
After opening the Sound pane (from right click on the tool bar speaker icon) I clicked on the Set Default button near the bottom. There I clicked Disable (I think that was the term) for the onboard sound card (Conexant). Now the sound card is gone and I can't find how to turn it back on. I'm not very sophisticated but I have checked the usual suspects even downloaded the driver etc.

Randomly throughout the day I will hear a constant "bing" noise as if I were disconnecting a USB device. This will go on for about 5 minutes or so then stop randomly. I have checked all of my external and internal connections on my rig and everything is connected. So I believe it is a software issue. I have checked hardware and devices as the anomoly occured and all that happens is a refresh and thats it, nothing to indicate a solution.
I've installed the RC on my computer, everything works great except I get no sound output at all. It shows that it's connected and playing sound, I can see the green volume bars jumping around but no output. It even shows the front green jack as connected and disconnected when I take the headphones out.
I've tried the original bundled drivers with the RC, the old Vista 32bit sound driver from my mobo website, and the Realtek 2.29 driver. All have no luck at all.
I'm using the 7100 32-bit build.
System Specs are:
Asus P5WD2 Premium Mobo
Newest BIOS
Drivers as above.
Waiting for the new 2.30 to become available but apart from that does anyone else know of anything with this board?
On reading through everyone else sound problems, Asus motherboards prop up a hell of a lot! I'm not majority worried too much about the sound at the moment and I know it's an RC so can't have everything!
whenever i start up my computer, windows seems to disable both my sound and network drivers, so everytime i start my computer i have to go into device manager and disable, then enable my network controller (for the internet) and my creative soundblaster card so they start working again. This is very annoying, also the time it takes for my computer to load is ridiculous, what could be wrong, do i have a virus?
I was wondering if reinstalling windows home premium would work, as I have tried disabling drivers, uninstalling and reinstalling drivers. Checked everything on control panel.
I just bought my Acer laptop 5057G Windows 7 Home Premium 32 last December. I just woke up one day and my laptop don't have sound when I play videos and music, and I can't surf the internet at all though I am connected to the internet. It says, Error 324(net: ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connetion without sending any data.
a couple of weeks ago i bought and downloaded a copy of the "systweak advanced system optimizer" and after using it to 'optimize' my system it instead screwed it up big time... now my sound crackles and stutters when i play all media, online or offline, dvds, Internet, games, etc...i've tried the usual methods, such as rolling back drivers, uninstalling all the audio drivers (nvidia and realtek) restarting and letting windows 7 reinstall them, all to no avail my motherboard uses integrated realtek audio sound, i have been using win 7 with no sound issues since early 2010, and now this happens?
Recently ive decided that Well i should upgrade this computer. give it a bit of ..well style. But since ive upgraded to Windows 7 there has been no sound whatsoever. Ive downloaded countless driver programs which tell you what sound card you have and not one has detected it. IVE ALSO downloaded drivers for the Windows 7 version of my sound (Realtek AC97) and ran windows updates and NONE worked. ive ran the troubleshooter on the sound thing...STILL not detecting any sound card. i tried changing the audio in BIOS from auto - enabled....nothing.
The original OS was Windows XP 32bit SP3. I upgraded this system to Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit SP2 with no issues.
I then went to upgrade the system to Windows 7 Premium. I chose the "Upgrade" install and not the "Clean" install. I've checked the updater to confirm that all my system information was adequate. I uninstalled the ATI Catalyst Controller, iTunes, etc. that it wanted me to. Oddly enough, the ATI Catalyst Controller was the most recent driver that supports Windows 7.
I checked online to see if the hardware was all supported by Windows 7. The Sapphire Vapor-X video card was not compatible or compatible... it simply wasn't on the list of either. The X-Fi Extreme Gamer said it was NOT compatible... yet, I had a driver for Windows 7 and the Windows 7 Application checker said that my sound card was ready for Windows 7... thus a discrepency.
I went on with the installation. I get to the last step where it resets the computer at 62% and I get a BSOD for about 1/3 of a second. It goes by too quickly for me to capture it. It then restarts the computer instantly with the result of "Upgrade was not completed successfully. Restoring prior OS yadda yadda". I've gone through this about 5 times now trying different things.. keeping the Catalyst controller installed, uninstalling the video card, removing the sound card, etc. Nothing seems to work.
It was recommended to me that I do a clean install... however, I have read that many others have done a clean install and theirs STILL doesn't get past the 62%.
Is it my hardware? Do I need to buy MORE hardware now that 7 is out that is on the compatible list?
while installing 7 H.P. it gets to completing installation then freezes up after computer reboots a warning message appears stating windows 7 has failed to install and resume after reboot, and then the same warning message appears.
I tried the roll back installation option and a message flashes on and off to quickly to read. and Vista will not come up to start over.
I successfully bought the upgrade version of Windows 7 Home Premium N, downloaded and extracted it and now I want to install it.
When I choose UPDATE in the intallation dialog it tells me that I cannot upgrade from Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Home Premium ???
Every website from Windows and other people tells me that it IS possible and even the Windows 7 Update Advisor told me that I should not encounter any problems upgrading.
Has anyone of you yet encountered upgrading problems of compatible Vista/7 versions?
Or any other idea what I can do to solve the problem?!
I know that I can make a clean intall of 7, but this would be a pain..
Yesterday I was messing around on my brand-new laptop, and I was stupid enough to try a keygen to get Ultimate (I had HP). Surprising. It worked but the copy wasn't genuine obviously. So then I rebooted, pressed F8 at boot. An ran Toshibas recovery to try to get the computer to its out of box state. I got stuck at initializomg (either that or I was impaptient) so I turned off the laptop. Then when I truer to boot I got bootmgr is missing. I have an old vista Hp disk so I installed that for the time being. So my question is, how do I get it back to the original state? I do t have any important data or anything.

the sound is crappier than ever. I have this quality loss for a while but now is repulsive. Ive reinstall windows 7, reinstall relatek drivers, get ones specified by my motherboad manufacturer, tried the latest ones.... put power management at high performance...etc my motherboard ASUS - Motherboards- ASUS P5GC-MX/1333
as stated in the subject, I am unable to hear any sound from my speakers since upgrading to the windows 7 64 bit. I followed the other post that I found on this but I still cannot hear any sound.I have a dell inspiron 531. The hardware ids from the device manager areHDAUDIOFUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0888&SUBSYS_1028020E&REV_1000 HDAUDIOFUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0888&SUBSYS_1028020EI have installed the realtek drivers and they as working but I still get nothing but a slight hiss from my speakers. I have tried them on my laptop and they work fine.Does anybody know what might be causing this? I am half tempted to get a new sound card but I am reluctant as it says my existing one is working (it just seems to have forgotten to tell the speakers!) If anybody knows a fix for this I really would be eternally grateful
I've solved my gaming graphics issues, namely by choosing the parts I wanted rather than buying yet another "Media-Center"-style all-in-one unit that did everything, but not very well, I'm now in need of a solution to my present awful headphone sound quality. I have a generic Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio card that is not very good, sound-wise, and, because it doesn't even include an optical out plug, goes unused. I purchased a refurbished Turtle Beach headset w/DSS decoder, and, while it works as advertised, the headphones are terrible for music. I've replaced the TB Headset with a much better-sounding Pyle set, and will buy some "real" headphones as soon as I've determined that the source itself is sending out a good-sounding signal.I've seen pro and con arguments about sound cards, like the Xonar series that have headphone amplification included. My issue with that is I am more concerned with the graphics for games, and I've built this system with SLI (another gtx580) in mind, and I do not see enough room under or in between the dual GPUs for proper installation of such huge sound cards, though I'm glad to have my ignorance in this area demonstrated. The anti-Sound card group seems to be gravitating towards a separate headphone amplifier, and I"ve seen them from the $20 dollar model included free with another headset I purchased, to the $1800 tube amps. I think I would like to either go this route, or purchase a home stereo receiver that can output the PC sound, thus having both satisfactory amplification for low-volume music listening( or ear-bleeding levels, if desired) and the ability to power speakers elsewhere. I guess what I'm asking is for some entry-level priced PC headphone amplifiers to start off with. I see countless rating comments for the FiiO series, and while the prices are certainly attractive, the fact that they're so low-priced also makes me leery of their actual amplification abilities while staying neutral in tone.
Why when watching Live TV in media center does muting the sound there mute all of Windows sounds? Would like to be able to mute TV sound, use close captions but still have windows sound function for other programs.
