I have an HP Pavilion zd7000 laptop. Am trying to boot from the original XP CD that was provided by HP.(I have the product key info)I put the CD in the drive, shutdown the laptop, power it back up and I'm looking at the same screen I always get when I bring this system up. I don't see anything in the way of a minimal Xp system thats prompting me to install.
View 1 RepliesSuddenly my Win 7 Home Premium x64 will not boot. The system starts, POSTs then loads the DVD driver, then the screen goes black (not blank but "lit up" black if that makes sense). Then nothing. If I use Hiren's boot cd I can boot up using the "boot from HDD" option fine and Windows operates normally. System restore to a previous configuration made no difference to the original problem. I cannot boot into Safe Mode. F8 just offers me boot order options.
- Running the Windows 7 DVD I find: "No operating system is listed on the Repair Windows option."
- Running Startup Repair finds the following error: "the partition table does not have a valid system partition" which it claims to have repaired, but the error remains and Windows will still not boot.
I followed this advice:
Boot 7 dvd to system recovery options command prompt. Type: Diskpart
list vol (find the vol letter e.g C or partition number e.g. 1 for the system partition )
Sel vol C ( or sel vol 1, obviously use the correct letter or number)
act exi
My system partition was easily identified and listed as healthy so I selected it and made it active. The problem still remains exactly the same. My system is self built just over a year ago, to my knowledge has been running fine, without any hardware issues. I'm prepared to do a clean install if that's what it takes but if there is a way to fix the partition problem without that I'd like to explore it first.
I recently bought a vaio VPCX113KG off ebay. After a month of use the pc wont boot. it comes up as "operating system not found" but the laptop doesn't have an optical drive and I can find downloadable recovery media. What should I do? I think the hard disk is being detected in the bios.

So then I deleted the RAID volume and changed my boot 1st priority to my DVD drive so i could reinstall Windows on the hdd that's still alive at least.

Didn't have any problems until all of a sudden my computer just completely shut down and restarted while I was using it. And now it cannot boot, it just comes up with a 'Missing Operating System' message! I went into BIOS and it still detects my hard drive.
I booted from my Windows 7 CD and it looks like its going to load from my CD, and then it just stalls and comes up with the same message.. 'Missing Operating System'
So the other day I wake up to log on to my Alienware M17x m1, which was running windows 7 ultimate x64 sp1. As it's booting up, I see the message operating system missing. So I grab my USB thumb drive (my cd/DVD drive does not work, thus I have to use windows 7 on USB). Tried to reinstall windows that way, but was getting some partition error of some sort. Now when I try to boot up with USB, I can't even get to the windows 7 installation screen. I get - The Windows Boot Configuration Data file does not contain a valid OS entry.

View 1 Replies View Relatedmy computer crashed last night and when I have tried to switch it on since it gives me the above message.I have tried entering setup by pressing F2 and changing the hard disk to be the primary boot device, but the same thing occurs.I have created a Windows 7 32-Bit recovery disk by downloading the iso file on my dad's pc and burning that to a dvd. I am able to load this, but when it first starts up it has a table supposed to list operating systems but it is blank and I cannor select anything. It says if my operating system isn't listed, "click load drivers and install drivers for your hard disks" but I don't know where on earth these are located and neither does google seem to.then working through the option on the menu:
-if I click start-up repair it tells me "startup repair cannot repair this computer automatically"
-if I click system restore I get an error message saying I must specify which windows installation to restore
-if I click system image recover it gives me an error message saying "windows cannot find a system image on this computer" and if I try to select one none appear.
I made the mistake of putting W7 on a small partition of the 160GB D drive. I was not aware that much of windows 7 programing would not allow me to change the destination to install and insists on installing on the OS drive. I am looking for a way to copy, move or coerce all of the current system onto another drive without erasing that drive.

People around the internet said that you must go ahead and format the drive, So, I went ahead and did that. Thus deleting the operating system in the process. For a split second i can see windows 7 loading but then it automatically went to the startup repair , after many many reboots i opened the command prompt in windows startup repair and tried fixing the master reboot.Now it gets stuck at loading operating system.Even when i try to boot from the windows 7 CD and Truecrypt rescue disk it still gets stuck at loading operating system.The whole harddrive was encrypted with truecrypt and it use to go to truecrypt bootloader after loading the operating system but it doesn't do that anymore.

I am attempting to reinstall windows with files burned from an .iso onto a blank disc but when I press f12 then go into CD-ROM it goes to the next screen and says: 'Loading Operating System... Boot from CD/DVD..' Then it will boot normally.
View 8 Replies View RelatedLast night, I built my first desktop machine. Most of my components were brand new, but I kept my old hard drive.(Which contained my Windows Home Premium 64 bit OS on it.)
When I finally went to power it up for the first time, it booted up normally, and then when it goes to the black screen with the colors swirling together to make the windows logo, right away it quickly flashed to a blue screen and then restarted.
I then went into the repair windows mode, but the automatic repairs failed. They left me with these details:
