Often I am told that I need to be an Adminisrator to do something when using Windows 7. Is there a way to become a Adminisrator when I boot into Windows, and be a Adminisrator all the time I'm using Windows 7? Or is there a way of disabling the feature that pops up the message telling me that I need to be an Adminisrator to do something when using Windowd 7?
A little background and info: I support a number of people who for one reason or another need to be able to do things a local admin can do like install programs and start services (or more accurately allow a program they're running to start a service). All users are in the local administrators group. The local admin account is enabled (and renamed) so that we as administrators have local access when the machine comes in for service. The machines are joined to a AD domain so that we can control a lot of the security via GPO. Everything worked fine in XP.
We are getting a few different "you do not have permission" errors. When the user tries to run OpenAFS (which starts a service) they get a "you do not have permission" error. There is no way around this error.
Also, when the users try to run Lotus Notes they get a "you do not have permission" error. When we go into compatibility mode and check the "run as administrator" (or just right click and "run as administrator) it works fine, but they have to click the elevated privileges. The program was installed while logged in as the user.
Again, all users are members of the local administrators group. When the local admin account logs in all these programs run fine. This behavior started in Vista and I chalked it up to "vista sucks". Windows 7 so far seems to be great, except that like in vista, members of the local administrators group are not really local administrators. How do I make them true local administrators?
I use an old XP app (JetToolbar - available at JetToolBar - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com) and do not want to change but I cant make it work on Windows 7. The application installs and starts up just fine but it is not possible to drag icons/programs/files to the toolbar - I just get the 'no entry' sign (Circle with line through)However, the application runs fine when logged on to the hidden Administrator account. If I set up the application in the hidden Admin account and then log on as a normal admin user and run it from that account, the icons I set up are just not visible. So what do I have to change in my normal user account (member of administrators) to make this drag and drop work?I have tried 'Run as administrator' but that made no difference. Ive read about dropping to 'Run as User' apps from 'Run as Admin' apps but that's not the problem (at least problem occurs when app is run as user or run as admin)
I have an Acer laptop which came with one user account, Acer, with the administrator right. When I tried to rename it to Administrator or administrator, I got an messages saying that user name has already existed
I recently "repaired" my laptop by replacing the hard drive. Originally I was told that its the motherboard that was faulty and not the hard drive, but after replacing the hard drive, it seemed to be working OK. However recently, at random times my laptop has been experiencing the BSOD.I have Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit and all the system specifications has been attached with this post.At the moment, I solved the issue by using system restore to restore the machine to an an earlier date and at the moment I haven't experienced any BSOD. I installed BlueScreenViewer to read the minidump and it said the the problem driver that caused the crash was athr.sys.

I know that he spilt cola for about 1 month ago. It was just little , and it comes on graphic card. But like i said so long PC running perfectly except that start litte late. Could it be graphic card ? Games works perfect and everything else like i said. Also pc have hdd like 5 years old. Also i reinstalled windows , but still the same. Should i be worried about this
I also have the "Cat Meow" problem on my computer AND it is NOT a screwed up cooling fan. It's interesting that when there is no answer people resort to a little humor. The sound(s) (including a lions roar), randomly occur. They are short and sweet, not really that annoying but curiosity persists as to their origination.
I am running Windows 7. Everything was running fantastic and life was free of tensions. But now my laptop has started behaving like a tortoise. Browsers get unresponsive, media players get unresponsive, CCleaner is so slow, that it took 2 hours to assess the files to clean. It makes weird noises inside as if it's making poop. But hell I don't know what it is. I turned it upside down and removed all the screws except one, so I don't if too much dust is making this happen. Whatever it might be[CODE]
I reinstalled my windows (7 SP1) five days ago and BSOD has happened many times since. This morning it happened 3 times in one hour when I was watching a film with Windows Media Player.
My custom built machine is about 9 months old. For the last 3 months or so it has been crashing multiple times per day (usually 1-2 per day). It doesn't usually crash for atleast 3-4 hours after the reboot. I can't find any thing to make it crash on demand and don't notice myself doing the same time each time it crashes. It seems pretty random.
I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. It is the full retail version and was the first OS installed on this hard drive.
I have attached the results of the BSOD Dump & System File Collection app and the system health alert.
The computer is only about a year and a half old. Has always worked great and now I get random BSODs. Even after restoring it to factory systems three times, I still get random BSODs. And I can never recreate how it happens. Sometimes it won't happen for a whole day, sometimes it will happen every other minute. Downloaded BlueScreen viewer and it gives me a bunch of information. Will upload that.
I am receiving several BSOD.I have attached relevent attachment. Basic Information about Laptop. Manufacturer: Dell Model: N5010 Processor: Intel Core i3 2.53 GHz OS: Windows7 Home Premium 64 bit RAM: 4 GB Age of Laptop: 1 year The OS is originally installed.
I get BSOD at random times (even when I am not using the PC). I have not added any new hardware recently. I have attached SF.zip that has data produced by SF Diag Tool.
my computer keeps bsodding at random sometimes watching movies and sometimes playing games or even when not doing anything just come home and has reset?
I use a normal HP mouse, it has been working fine for ages but recently it now and then stops working for a few seconds and then works fine again. I play Call of Duty 4 so it is very annoying to lose because of that. I looked into my device manager and for some reason it shows up 2 mouse drivers. Just uninstalled both and plugged my mouse back in. I have done this before and the second mouse driver seems to be coming back all the time.
I just purchased a new hp pavilion with windows 7, x64. It seems to time out randomly, approximately every five minutes, and takes me back to the desktop. I can hit any key to return to my original place. Is this normal? How I can keep this from happening?
So, long story short, I reformated my Eee PC because I couldn't run WEI after the first time. Boot times were great (a bar and a half at the 7 boot logo). However, I installed Daemon Tools Lite and this went up to 5 and a half bars while booting. I am speed obsessed. So, I uninstalled this software and boot times are the same. How can I fix this?
We installed/uninstalled 3 times the windows 7 ultimate -64bit on our desktop only in one day! (activated every times. The reason is long story, and we did not have another way). Anyway, for the 4th time, we had product key problem: The product key is not valid. Do you think are we limited to few times of installation/uninstallation?
First of all, I am very computer and Windows 7 savvy, but this issue has me stumped. My normal inclination is to just clean install, but I really would like to figure out what is going on.My system's Internet seems to just stop working after some time, ranging from a few hours to a day. Rebooting normally fixes it. Sometimes it slowly stops working by sometimes not connecting to hosts or sometimes sites will load but images will not. It's very strange. I have disabled Windows Firewall and don't run anything else. Background tasks are at a bare minimum, and Spybot, Windows Defender, MalwareBytes, and Super Anti-Spyware all report the system is clean. The HOSTS file is also clean. I have also set up the NIC to use OpenDNS.
When Internet dies, in Google Chrome 14, IE 9, or Firefox 6, the browser will give me a "cannot connect" page, but in Command Prompt, I can ping both the domain name, or the IP address successfully. I can also successfully perform a traceroute on the domain, but back to the browser, it will continue to give me "can't connect" messages. Since I can ping the domain, it doesn't seem like DNS issues. Because all browsers do it, it doesn't seem like a browser cache issue (I have cleared them).Sometimes, I can keep hitting F5 to refresh and after a dozen or so attempts, the page will load, but the next attempt will not.I don't think it is an ISP issue because it will happen on this system connected to any of several WiFi access points, or connected with my Sprint Mobile Broadband card. Other computers on the network have no issue
Occasionally shutting down my computer may take thirty seconds longer than normal(which is 10 seconds). All the peripherals shut down, but the computer keeps "shutting down" for 30 more seconds. Normally peripherals shut down just a second or two before the computer itself shuts down, but here the shutdown is just really delayed.
Windows 7 usually takes about 40 seconds to load, but after install or un-installing things and/or changing the registry, Windows can take 2 or 3 minutes to boot. Is this normal?

audio and video drivers are updated to lastest version.I had no problem with XP, but when I installed Windows 7 (64bits), I started to get a wierd bug.At random times, the computer seems to freeze for about a second then get back to normal. Everything freezes, mouse, graphic and if there's sound playing, it seems like it's repeating the same sound at incredible speed until the lag ends. Here's a mp3 to show you what kind of sound the lag makes :Lag sound I really don't have a clue what it can be. I've tried multiple things. I've updated audio and video drivers. I've search around forums to find similar problems. Couldn't find anything.
I have 2 internal HDDs. My primary is Ubuntu and the second is Windows 7. The system time is correct is Ubuntu but 4hours ahead in Windows. I reset it, but after I boot into Ubuntu my Windows will be 4 hours ahead again the next time I log into it.
Error keeps showing up random times and interfering with some functions. Looks like it is a internet explorer file but I am not running Windows Explorer and took it off my computer a month or so ago. This is VEXING to say the least. If it is missing one would think you could just download the replacement but no notes about where to get one so I am stuck with this problem and no solution?
