How To Get Back Password
Jan 7, 2013I followed an online tutorial to hide my admin account by changing my registry so my mom couldn't get in. I kept myself out also. I tried doing a lot of stuff to retrieve it, but nothing would work because the only account I have left is a guest account, therefore, no admin permissions. One thing I think I can still do, though, is a system restoration point, but somehow, my previous restoration point was deleted. What if, and I'm going out on a limb here, I saved a restoration point off of my friends computer onto a flashdrive and used that for my computer? We have the exact same OS (Windows 7 Premium 64bit). I plan on doing that, then doing a complete system restore back to the factory settings.

Seems that using it, everything works fine, but if I do not check mail for about 15 minutes, it automatically signs me off, then I have to sign back in...all my info is always saved, (screen name, password). Sep 9, 2012I have a desktop machine that is connected to my work domain. Most days it works fine, but after the machine has been sitting idle for a couple days and I can't login. I hit Ctrl Alt Delete, then enter my username and password, but then it takes me back to the Ctrl Alt Delete page without any error messages.I can still access the C drive over the network but I just can't log on. I also tried using Remote Desktop from another machine but had no success.I think it's hardware related, because I have two identical machines and they are both behaving like this. However, all of the drivers have been updated, including the BIOS, and I've got all the latest Windows updates on there too.

Jan 9, 2011At present I have my WIN 7 set to Boot up without a Password. I would now like to change that siuation back to a "Password Required" Boot.
I have tried going into User Accounts >Change Passwords where I get the three boxes "Current Password", "Change Password" and "Confirm New Password" all blank as expected.
Its what happens next that has me puzzled. I tried leaving the "Current Password" blank , entered a new Password into the "Change Password" box and re-entered this into the last Box .
I now get the message " The password you typed is incorrect. Please re-type your new Password"

Two laptops / home premium / windows 7.Now when I try to access it I am prompted for a Network user name and password, the same promt giving details of my domain. This is not my homegroup password, I know where and how to find / use it. 4 PCs - One Vista, 2 Windows 7 Home Premium, 1 Windows 7 Ultimate. All see each other. All have appropriate folders shared.
Try accessing A from B and I get "Enter Network Password (to connect to B)". I never set one up to start with, so why is it asking me for it. How do I access/change something I never set?
Try accessing B from A - I see the PC, and the folders I want but trying to access them results in "You do not have permissionto access folder names Contact your network administrator - who he? Obviously me but I don't know what the answer is!
Trying similar things with the other two PCs in the mix results in various permutations of the same problem.
I have tried all the various links suggested through Networking and Help, but most of the actions seem to be boxes to click to make the PCs try to sort themselves out. When it fails I can't find a manual way of trying to sort it out.
Any suitable tutorials that may help? Couldn't see any.

1-Erunt requires that you turn UAC off for ERUNT and not to use it automatically. ERUNT has not been updated since 2005.
2-System restore and Norton = must Norton turn tamper protection off to restore.
3-system restore = do not use safe mode(good back up) but you cannot restore afterwards.
I have 2 questions, assuming the above is true;
1= does registry backup cause more trouble than imaging.
2-Acronis and Macrium are good but is Win 7 back up restore as reliable with 64 bit? It is limited but I am concerned about the reliability as oppsed to the other two.

I try not to lift the partition. then I use File Recovery again ... I just found a Folder is missing the rest are listed! LOST & FOUND! with millions of folders and each folder in it only consists of 2 3 or 1 files uncovered.
