How To Free Up Graphic Shared Memory In Windows 7 X64 System
Mar 1, 2011
Windows 7 x64, by default assigns some RAM for Graphics, even if we install a 1GB or 2GB high-end VGA card! How can I disable this action? I really don't want to lose some RAM for graphics, specially when it's really not needed! I have assembled some high-end systems with 2 GB of VGA memory and 8 GB of RAM, but Windows 7 still deduct some RAM for VGA!!!
how to convert a shared video memory into dedicated video memory and system video memory? me and my friend have the same specs computers but the same game runs slow in my computer but it runs smoothly in his computer?
I have looked all over the internet for an answer to this problem, but I cannot find one. You see, in my setup menu (or rather the BIOS? I don't really know. The thing that you press F2 for after seeing "acer" or "DELL") there is no video options tab. Just, if I remember correctly, "information, Security, Boot, Exit", and one other thing that shows the time, date, and total RAM. I cannot however highlight total RAM or video RAM (I have about 120 MB of VRAM, 4GB of total). So how do I change shared video memory if there is no video tab? I'm looking to boost performance (even if it's only by a little bit) in games. I'm willing to share more PC info, just ask
this is a new computer, but had BSOD problems, so I reinstalled Windows 3 days ago. Today I was using graphic card based rendering engine, photoshop, Indesign, Itunes, etc, and I had my task management window open, but it had low memory and CPU usage. However it crashed saying:0x0000007e (0xffffffffc0000005, 0xfffff800035fb9bc, 0xfffff880035d2638, 0xfffff880035d1e90)
So I recently bought GTA IV, the minimum graphic memory to run it is around 256MB so as I have 353 MB I decided to give it a try. The entire installation process went on smoothly and when I run the game everything works ok but after the loading process when the cutscene starts the graphics become very horrible. When I checked out the graphics tab it showed me that I was using 256/60 MB. As far as I know my graphic memory is 383 and another surprising fact is that when you over-ride the memory in this game it actually turns the color of the font red 256/60 MB text. When normal green in color) but the color was green. I even tried increasing the setting but it didn't allow me to increase it.
Here are my graphic specification: Name: Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family Manufacturer: Intel Corporation DAC Type: Internal Approx Total Memory: 353 MB Current Display Mode: 1280x800 (32bit) (60Hz) Monitor: Generic PnP Monitor
i have laptop dv4 hp pavilion in which i installed window 7 by window vista but now my graphic card is not working with nvidia, so i can not work with good quality of picture and highly games.
I have a dell 3500 vostro and started using Win7 last week. Since that time the graiphic card hasn't been working well, I've tried to fix it but couldn't find the proper driver.
Q. Is it safe/stable to overclock system and in addition to that also overclock graphic card.? How to be sure for stability. previous Gr. Card HD 4350 died I suspect because I did little overclocking in system ( as now) and then in graphic card was on AUto Tune, overdrice. Graphic card showed erratic behaviour after couple of hours completely died. My system specs briefly:ASUS P5QPL PRO Q9400 2GB CORSAIR DDR2 Dual Channel.Graphic card: SAPPHIRE RADEON HD 6850 GDDR5 1GB.I have done little overclocking on system, some initial steps only. then in catalyst it is set to :Enable Graphic overdrive. 775 MHZ for GPU and 1GHz for GDDR5. these values I got through Auto Tune.
I was using a 2 GB msi graphic card in my desktop, suddenly my desktop stoppedstarting yesterday, to be precise nothing comes in monitor , after so many hit an try I realized that graphic card is the culprit, when I removed the graphic card and used the on board graphics, then my system worked fine. One more thing is, my CMOS battery is not working, can it be a reason for graphic card not to work ?? How do I check whether my graphics card is still working or not?
Last Friday i installed a new graphic card, Asus EAH4870. Since the system is eratic and one ine a while, very slow

I have been dealing with a problem now since January and I wonder if someboddy is recognizing this. My system gets a bsod when I install the graphic driver. It doesnt happen directly but after a while when im on the internet or when I'm trying to run FM 2012 or other games. Then when i reboot I get bsod before windows startup. When the driver isn't installed the computer is running without problem but im not able to play a game or connect the computer to TV and stuff like that. When I reboot again and put the computer in Safe mode I uninstall the driver in device manager and reboot again and the computer is able to start normally. The files that cause the bsod is:
atikmpag.sys <------ almost every time this one dxgkrnl.sys ntoskrnl.exe
*I looked around on the internet for soloutions, there're many and I have tried almost all. I've tried to remove everything with driver sweeper to install the latest update to my ATI Radeon HD 4870 x2. Even tried to install old updates.
*I have tried to install various OS. Vista x32, x64. Windows 7 x32, x64 and even XP. The problem remains. Now when I know that it doesn't matter I have Windows 7 x64 Ultimate.
*I have opened up my computer and removed all the dust from the motherboard, Graphic card and CPU. The temp is OK!
*I removed one RAM memory and it didn't work.
*I've never overclocked anything.
*I've done some system test over night and it didn't find any errors.
*I've upgraded drivers on the bios and everything else on the motherboard and CPU.

Does anyone know of a tool or a command that free's up memory that isn't being used anymore on Windows 7, similar to the purge command in terminal on a Mac?
