View 7 RepliesI had a dual boot with Windows 7 and Win8. I wanted to remove Win8 cause I was bored and didn't need it. I did everything right.
Dual Boot - Delete OS
But the boot manager failed. When I restarted I got an error saying that their is some invalid information. I didn't have the Win 7 disc, so I put the Win 8 disc and installed it in the partition that had win 8 before, hoping that it would recognized Win 7. But hasn't. So now I have a partition of Win 7 but it is not getting recognized.
I have an ASUS notebook (U31F i5 with 4 GB mem) which until recently I used only occasionally. It has Legit Office 2010, but no CD/DVD drive. My desktop hard disk crashed in a big way so I am using the notebook as my main computer. It has just recently started throwing up messages that my Windows Homw Premium (x64) is not genuine. It is gebuine OEM and activated (back when I got the notebook), and I have not tampered in any way.

Hi there, right now I have a non genuine version of Windows 7 Ultimate installed, I'm looking to replace it with a genuine copy of Windows 7 home premium. Could I do this with an upgrade disc or would I need to buy the whole OS? I'm trying to avoid paying 200$ to activate Ultimate.

I am using an Acer Aspire 5738G, which originally came with Windows Vista Home Premium. Later I got the free Windows 7 Home Premium update disc and never encountered any problem.
But since the last 1 month or so, I've been getting this 'Windows not genuine' message on a random basis. Microsoft Security Essentials says that it will disable itself within 30 days if the issue is not resolved. When I click on 'Resolve issue', an IE window is opened and takes me to Microsoft's website. When I do all the steps explained, everything goes back to normal and my Windows is again considered as genuine.
recently i made a post on my netbook's problem to activate windows, when I used Vista, unfortunately i couldn't. Well yesterday i updated my computer to Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit, i tried to activate windows but at the point i give my product key, it says that the key i typed is not a windows 7 one.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a Gateway FX6801-05 which originally had Wiindows Vista installed. I purchased a complete Windows 7 ultimate (not upgrade, not OEM) from eBay. I wiped the disk then installed and verified it without a hitch. Automatic updates has been working fine.Yesterday I changed some things around on my motherboard. When I booted Windows 7 Ultimate, which has been installed on my computer for several years now, it reported that my copy of Windows was invalid. Apparently the motherboard remembered the OEM Vista product number. I tried reauthorization both on the web and by phone using my new product key of Windows 7. The phone reauthorization doesn't even allow me to talk with a support person.Did I really buy an unauthorized Windows 7 ultimate, or is something weird going on here because VISTA OEM was originally installed on this computer?
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo, I've recently been getting this "The Windows 7 Home premium product key is invalid for activation" I wasn't getting this the first two weeks after I re-installed my Windows 7 home premium, so I assumed everything was fine. Then, I started to get this... I don't see why the key would be invalid, it's the key that's on the bottom of my laptop, and yes before anyone asks, my windows os before was windows 7 home premium 64 bit, like the one I have installed now.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to install a copy of Windows 7 Professional x64, obtained through my university's MSDNAA program, on my desktop. Through research, and another thread on this forum i have attempted to make a USB disk to load the .iso onto the desktop, however when moving the files from the iso onto the flash disk it returns the error "Invalid MS-DOS Function" when trying to copy/move the install.wim, install_Windows7 PROFESSIONAL.clg, as well as the other .clg files. What can I do to remedy this issue and get this thing to install? The computer I am attempting to do this on is my Windows 7Pro x86 laptop.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI try to input the product key and get an invalid product key error. Now the only place I have the code written is on the actual CD i have for Windows, and that is just a burnt copy. The key and OS was from my old college I went to 3 or 4 years ago and it was legit. Everything was genuine and validated fine but now I am having problems. Now is there a way to call up Microsoft and have them run my laptop hardware or something to show that this is the same laptop and same hardware i have been using for the past 4 years and have them get me an activation code?

Also can't change date and time option the "ok" button is grayed out. Any help would be fantastic.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently took my internal hard drive and bought a casing for it and made it external. But when i connected it to my computer the disk management showed it as invalid dynamic. So i went online, read a bit about basic and dynamic and ways to convert the latter into former. I adopted the method of converting through changing "hex" using "HxD". Now when i changed the '47's to '07' , i got back my three partitions without any data loss one of which was system reserve. I do not know how to get the rest back. cannot loose the data. I have to get the other three back. Total no of partition =6 (including system reserve) No. of partitions recovered = 3 (including system reserve) No

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a PC with windows vista installed. I recently bought windows 7 home premium and installed a fresh copy of it. Every time I download some software like Chrome, VLC, iTunes , it downloads fine, but when it has to install it gives strange errors. I have seen all kinds of errors.
E.g.: VLC gives NSIS error.
Microsoft Security Essentials gives "File Corrupt Error".
Got certificate invalid error for some other software. if I download zip files, they fail with CRC check.
Just to be sure it wasn't hardware issue, I installed vista as a second OS and that works fine. I am really uncertain what is causing the issue (seems network related though). I had an old router and just purchased a new linksys router. Other configurations are: Core 2 Quad, EVGA SLI ready motherboard, 4GB DDR2 ram, ASUS EN210 gphx card.
I have the same problem as Justin24 had in this forum

Win 7 came installed on laptop. Started having error msg that Windows was not genuine. However, there is no link to activate Windows in computer properties. Using SLUI 3 command brings up dialog to activate Windows, but receive error "0x80070424 specified service does not exist as an installer service" once it tries to validate. Tried activating after setting selective startup to disable unnecessary startup files with no success. Cannot copy MGAdiag log. Get message hr=0x80070002.

I have a dual boot system with XP/7. I resized the partitions using Gparted and after that I got an error where 7 would not load (0xC0000225). I managed to fix this by using my Windows 7 disk to recover the boot loader. However that brings me to my current issue.
I can boot to Windows 7, but after I log on it says "preparing your desktop", and after waiting longer than usual it brings me to a blue screen that says "Windows 7; Build 7600; This copy of Windows is not genuine" in the lower left corner. It does nothing from this point, it just hangs on this screen without loading the start bar or anything.
I can still access the task manager if I Ctrl, alt, del but cannot solve this genuine error. Back when I was a tech and dealt with XP errors of this nature, it would bring up an option to used a limited mode and from there you could activate it, but I'm getting nothing. Anybody have any suggestions here?
i installed windows 7 on a partition on my hard drive so i could dual boot xp and windows 7 just in case i didn't like windows 7 this partition was made usingEASEUS PARTITION MASTER (if it really matters)everything was fine i resized the partition from 20gb to 40gbafter doing so i restarted my pc to boot into windows 7...everything went fine until i logged into my account to be met by and ugly blue colored background that said "this copy of windows is not genuine" and i also now had no task bar or start button.so i opened up task manger clicked "new task" typed in "explorer.exe" and my task bar popped up in the original gray windows 95 theme i tried to click my computer but was met by an error that said "No such interface supported" i tried clicking everything in sight to only be met by the annoying error sound and statement quoted aboveso i then decided to browse using task manager (which actually worked) and that is when i noticed that the drive letter in which windows 7 ultimate is installed on was now "D:" instead of the original "F:" i tried to open regedit/regedt32 a 1000 times to try an change the drive letter through there but is just wont open i just get an error like the one stated abov

View 5 Replies View RelatedI built my computer about 6 months ago and bought windows 7 from my university. It activated fine and has worked well up until a few weeks ago. Windows started to give me warnings that it may not be genuine, my background went black, etc.I was going to reinstall ("upgrade" ) windows 7so I first uninstalled service pack 1. After doing this windows no longer gave me these warnings and everything went back to normal. I reinstalled spc 1 just to see what would happen and it started giving me the warnings againoes anyone have any idea of what is going on? Should I just upgrade/do a new install? Is it better to do one or the other?
