View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a gateway notebook NV51B02h and I thought it would be good to add a HDD password at setup. That was the easy part. I then wanted to see how easy it is to remove the HDD password from setup. I know the password, of course, and went into security at F2 . HDD password was in "SET". I tried to remove the existing password and was opted to type a new password twice( to make sure the new ones matched) and just hit enter key twice. The HDD said it was now CLEAR , just like before this all started. Now , when i shutdown and boot up the same HDD Password need comes up

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently suffered a trojan virus attach and ultimately have changed my password on my email server.I have tried to reset it to the new password in Windows mail multiple times. It keeps reverting to the old password as the saved password, and I continually have to retype in the new password. I tried resetting the password to nothing, and rebooting, and the old password comes back again. There must be a preference file or an ini file that I can edit. Can I do that without loosing my address book, etc.?

Doesn't matter what I'm doing, all of the sudden my pages stop loading. An error message eventually pops up. I run the Network troubleshooter and it fixes it but I don't know why it keeps happening. It keeps saying "The default gateway is not available". [code]

However when turned on it acts like it will start my Windows 7 but then stops and restarts. It only quits when I manualy press the power button . I cannot get to the startup repair either. It tells me that the startup repair is offline.
View 1 Replies View RelatedFor about a month or so ago, my internet connection started disconnecting randomly, and often several times a day. I have been using 7 in over a year now (never had this problem), and, as far as i know i am the only one having this problem in my family. it is only on my stationary comp i have this problem, not any of the 3 laptops or the other stationary with win7 installed. I have seen several other posts on this error, but most of them are over a year old, and the rest is for networking programs.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just bought a Sony VAIO VPCEA3S1E and I have a problem with my WIFI connection. It says it connects to the local network and internet, but in reality, internet doesn't work. When I try to 'resolve the problem', it indicates that "The default gateway is not available". I've updated all things I could update (including VAIO related, Windows update, as well as the driver of the WIFI card) but the problem remains. In contrast, my flatmates manage to connect to the Wifi network. Also, I can have internet through the ethernet cable. FYI, my Wifi card is ATHEROS AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter. I'm also attaching a zipped version of the information system (.rar)
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently bought an Alienware laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. The first 2 weeks or so i had aboslutely no problems, but after that the internet started to cut out randomly, it wouldn't completely disconnect, it would just show an exclamation mark over the wireless signal icon. The only way to temporarily fix it is to troubleshoot the network, and all it tells me is that "The default gateway is not available." Once i troubleshoot it the internet runs fine for a period of time, could be 30 seconds, could be 2 hours, but then it stops working again. I've searched online for weeks for a solution but nothing has worked. it's quite frustrating when your a big online gamer

Two laptops / home premium / windows 7.Now when I try to access it I am prompted for a Network user name and password, the same promt giving details of my domain. This is not my homegroup password, I know where and how to find / use it. I have renamed pc's tried setting up homegroup again etc etc. Incidently I cant change the share options on any of my folders now, they are all locked to 'Nobody'.Can anyone help as it appears to have support from Microsoft for their product I'll have to pay pardon my igronance but if I sold a product with constant updates I wont charge for the support.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've always thought of networking as one of the black arts.
4 PCs - One Vista, 2 Windows 7 Home Premium, 1 Windows 7 Ultimate. All see each other. All have appropriate folders shared.
Try accessing A from B and I get "Enter Network Password (to connect to B)". I never set one up to start with, so why is it asking me for it. How do I access/change something I never set?
Try accessing B from A - I see the PC, and the folders I want but trying to access them results in "You do not have permissionto access folder names Contact your network administrator - who he? Obviously me but I don't know what the answer is!
Trying similar things with the other two PCs in the mix results in various permutations of the same problem.
I have tried all the various links suggested through Networking and Help, but most of the actions seem to be boxes to click to make the PCs try to sort themselves out. When it fails I can't find a manual way of trying to sort it out.
Any suitable tutorials that may help? Couldn't see any.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Windows 7 laptop, it has two network connections - one that I use at work; it is a hard wired connection (by DHCP - where the server automatically assigns an I.P. address), and the other wi-fi; which I use at home (again by DHCP where my modem / router assigns an I.P. address).
Recently I performed a Windows update (whilst at home - connected to my wi-fi network) and now when I take my laptop to work I am unable to connect to the internet. The Windows (2000) server knows that my computer is there, and I can access network shares, however I can't browse the web.
I had a look at my network settings by "ipconfig /all" and discovered that my "hard wired" connection is being supplied an invalid Gateway I.P.
Other computer on the network are not receiving an invalid Gateway.
As a temporary fix I have entered a static IP, however I am wondering if anybody knows what may cause my laptop to be assigned an incorrect Gateway IP, particularly when other computers on the work network are not experiencing this issue.
I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop, running Windows 7. Up until this morning everything was working fine (I've had it approximately 3 mos.), I haven't downloaded anything today or had any other problems, HOWEVER, suddenly my internet connection went out. That is to say, It still says I have full bars and that I'm 'connected' but it's an 'unidentified network' with no access to the internet or network. I've looked through a million help files today and tried them all and none of them have worked. I even used system restore to a month ago and it hasn't worked. I disabled all Mcafee products (expired anyway.) I called my internet provider and after they decided it was the computer and not the wireless they connected me to Dell, Dell definitively decided it's not a hardware problem but were going to make me pay to connect me to a software person. As far as I can see the network is set up correctly - the same as it's always been, and unlike all the other posts I've seen on it.. it does NOT work when I hook up an ethernet cable. My desktop is still working fine (obviously, I'm posting. lol.) When I run system diagnostic it resets the network configuration (doesn't help) and then tells me to investigate router or modem issues. (Also doesn't help.) There is no exclamation point or question mark etc. under Device Manager by my Dell Wireless card.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI had problems accessing the internet through laptop last evening. I noted that another network was active. When I went to Network and Sharing Center and clicked on network icon our home computers were shown but the other active network's gateway showed up. I was able to click on its properties and see its mac address etc. I called my provider and their tech section is looking into it. I have an admin password and running encryptation with a password key on my 2 wrie gateway. Does anyone have an idea as to what could be the cause of the other home network gateway showing up in our home network?
