HP Webcam Works But Not With Skype 4.1
I installed the driver for my webcam using the compatibility mode (ran it as vista sp2 though) and now I can see my webcam under sound, video and game controllers section in the Device Manager BUT webcam doesn't seem to work with Skype 4.1. I installed skype using compatibility mode in the same fashion. Has anybody had the same issue?

WIFI CONNECTION WORKS ONLY FOR SKYPE
I've upgraded from Vista to 7 and since then my wifi connection says I do have internet but... I connect to skype but I cannot connect to Msn Messenger, Yahoo Messenger nor can I navigate with any browser. If I connect directly to the LAN, not thru the router, then it cannot find the ip address...Any idea how to solve this problem? I am working now with an old laptp running XP and does not have any problem! These new OS, vista and 7 only gave me trouble! (I upgraded from Vista because I was having so many problems that thought that 7 would be better but... even worst!)

Getting Blue Screen Of Death Running SKYPE
This just started happening. I had 7 installed on an Acer Aspire and it worked fine. Installed 7 on a Dell Mini 10 and I get BSD. Happens after I answer a call not when the program opens. I need to play around with it more as I'm using Logitech wireless headset and I don't know if it works without the headset yet. As it was working previously on a different machine, it appears to be a harware issue. Anyone else seeing this?

Fraps + Skype / Teamspeak + Logitech Setpoint Issue
Everytime I record a game with Fraps and I don't use Skype/Teamspeak, everything goes fine and no problem occurs, but if im on TS or have someone on the phone with Skype after some seconds of game recording my USB Logitech Desktop Easycall disconnects for some seconds (this means no Mouse, Keyboard and Headset for this time). Again some seconds later Mouse, Keyboard and headset is back online, but Teamspeak crashed or I can't hear/speak. This is kind of odd. With XP everything went fine. I didn't had Vista, and the strange thing is, that I don't even record sound with Fraps. I use latest Fraps, Teamspeak, Skype, Fraps and SetPoint Software. Are there special USB Drivers for Win7 or how can this happen?`

Works On One Computer, But Not The Other
When I try to install, I get an error in the beginning after the initial web update, every single time... It says something about not having all the files available for installation? How is that possilible if I can succesfully install it on my other system? Any help is GREATLY appreciated. I am also installing the CD on an external DVD/RW drive, since this old PC does not have a DVD drive installed. It also does not support USB 2.0. (1.0 only) By the way, Windows 7 on my laptop has been running great! But my PC used to run 100 times faster with Windows XP. Is there any way I can get my PC running with Windows 7 just like my laptop, and even faster like before?

No Codecs Works
I'm having some trouble with media center, and actually also other video players.. I've been trying for some time to get media center running, but I keep having trouble with the codecs. I'm running win 7 build 7100. First I installed ffdshow and used the MCDU to get media center to use ffdshow, and it worked. But then suddenly out of nothing about a week ago it didn't work anymore. When I tried to play a video-file I got the decoder error from media center telling me th-at the codec isn't working or isn't installed. It's all types of video files, avi, video_TS and so on. I then tried to uninstall ffdshow and install it again, but it didn't help. I then tried to uninstall again and install a different codec-pack. Didn't help. I have tried to install many different codec-packs but nothing helps. Then I tried to play the video files using other media players. When playing video files in VLC the picture is kind of pixellated, doesn't look good at all (it's like watching the picture of Ripley's daughter as an old woman in Aliens if you remember). I can't find a solution to this problem as I don't know what is wrong.

Old Hardware How That Works ?
I had some discussions with some of my customers about Windows 7 and it's requirements. Main question were all times: "Did we need to change our hardware?" or: "Is an hardware upgrade needed?" So, I played a bit around with older hardware for expamle: 1.: NEC Mate 17GA. It's an japanese NEC with 1.7 GHz Celeron Processor and came original with 512 MB Ram, 40 GB HDD and XP Pro installed. Computer is from year 2002. I upgraded the memory to 1 GB and 160 GB HDD with 2 partition, each 80 GB, that's all. Installed XP pro again, and was need to downlaod all drivers again, not one was working directly. Installed Windows 7 7077 on the 2. Partition and all drivers were directly installed and working. Boot time from XP: 3 min!! Boot time from Windows 7: 1 min!! 2.: Sony Vaio Laptop year 2000, P4 3 GHZ and 512 MB Ram, 60 GB HDD. No any upgrade I had leave the system in its origin state. It had XP pro installed and the booting time was 2.5 minutes! Installed Windows 7 7077 as clean install and only system on HDD. Installation was need 49 minutes. All drivers were working directly and even the 512 MB Ram were enough. Ok, not for multitasking with more than 5 progs open at the time! The huge difference to XP Pro was: Boot time below 1 minute and the running with the same Office and Excel files, nearly 40% faster than XP! The above testing and outcome is showing very clear that Windows 7 is even faster than XP ever was! But it also shows, that the min System Requierements are less than MS told as needed! Overall the OS Windows 7 is working a lot more stable than Vista and XP. Even Software which were not able to run in Vista, like Windows Draw from 1991 or Ulead Image Pals from 1990, are working in Windows 7 very well. I still have an NEC Peti Scan Scanner (a small mobile Scanner) which was able to work max in Win 2000 and I like to check that scanner can work in Windows 7 as well because the driver is assigned for Win 98 as latest OS! Need to find the driver again because the CD is "dead"! But if I get the driver, I'm quite confident I'll get that scanner back to work. It's just a kind of fun for to do such testing! It also shows that the new MS OS seems to be a very relaible system. Maybe those of the readers of this forum, who were thinking about to upgrade or not, get some more ideas.

Network Works One Way Only
I've installed Windows 7 "release version" on my desktop, with two problems.  One is that the network only works in one direction. The laptop can see the desktop machine, and connect to its drives (including the USB backup one) with no problem. However, the desktop can't "see" the laptop in "Network".  If I go to Network and Sharing Center / See full map, then the laptop shows as it should. However, right-clicking it offers me 3 options: Open Media Player, Create shortcut, and Properties. Everything after that seems to think the laptop is a music folder. I've checked and rechecked file sharing (all seems OK - similar permissions to what is on the laptop). I'm leery of doing the wipe-and-install of the "release version" onto the laptop until I know what's wrong, just in case I lose the link to the desktop - which has the printers and the backup drives attached to it.

Audio Only Works Through Headset
Since upgrading our Fujitsu Siemens Amilo PI1505 to Windows 7 in the past few days I've only been able to get sound through a headset and not through the speakers. Not particularly having a clue what to do I've tried installing the original audio drivers but can't do so as Windows tells me that more up to date drivers are already installed. Any ideas on how to resolve this problem and if indeed it is a driver issue any ideas how I can get the old driver to replace the new without Windows reinstalling the latest ones on Restart.

Should Win 7 Works On All Computers ?
I my self believe that we should update our hardware to follow new operating systems instead of trying to make new OS works fine on our 2,3,4 years old computers...One of the reasons i built a new system is to be able to run up-to-date windows systems. Will not go far with that but luckly my windows 7 working like charm and IE8 is working also perfect since i installed the os on c drive as main os. I would like to know if bugs are 100% system failer or it has to do more with hardware issues as well! How can some body be sure about! I my self can amost tell but shouldnt microsoft offer users a very clear notice about the compatible hardware they built windows 7 on-for example.

Flash No Longer Works In Any Browser
I just got this new computer, running 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium. Everything was working fine at first, but then it automatically updated some things. Now, Flash doesn't work online anymore, in any browser. The content starts to load, then the browser freezes, and I have to force quit it. I have the most recent version of Flash Player, and I can still play .swf files I make myself, so I don't know what to do anymore. I'm fairly sure that this isn't an isolated problem, as a friend of mine is experiencing the same thing. In a possibly related problem, .avi and other video files on my hard drive no longer play, nor do music files. I doubt my specs are needed, since this is almost certainly a software problem, but I'm running on a Dell Studio, with a 2GHz dual core processor and with 4Gb of RAM.

Hardware HD Acceleration Works Out Of The Box
I have onbored Intel GMA X4500HD which intel claims has hardware acceleration for HD movie playback. I could never get this to work properly with vista even with the power dvd HD codec installed? I also tried all the dodgy codec packs available (which in my experience courses more harm than good) in my quest for low cpu usage during 1080p or just any HD playback in general really. And although my monitor isn't even a HD monitor it's still above standard definition & I just like to know things are working as there advertised I guess? Plus I plan to get a HD monitor when my finances permit me to? I also had this problem with my old pc with an ati card installed aswell. Anyways I installed windows 7 & hardware acceleration works right out of the box, literally. No codecs & no messing about it just works as advertised. The codecs are there already & work as they should do for once. My cpu usage is down from 30/70% to 0/20% max now. It was 70/100% without any codecs & 30/70 was the best I could get with vista. With Windows 7 Microsoft has really hit the nail on the head for me, so to speak. Bootup times are so fast & so far I haven't had to install a single codec for once. It's like a refined vista with all the same features plus a few more just for good measure.

8500GT Works When Monitor Turned OFF
CRT 21/750 Formac (SonyGDM) / point of view 8500GT / Windows 7-64 xfx 680i LT / 4 gB ram / Q6600 / latest XFX BIOS (My first PCIExpress card - be gentle ;-) Here's what I've been doing for what seems like the best part of two days - 1 Boot in safe mode, disable 8500. Reboot. 2 Drivesweeper'd nVidia display drivers in safe mode. Reboot. 3 Restart in safe mode to verify drivers gone, but 7 just goes ahead and renistalls 195.62 anyway (A moderator on the nVidia boards says that these latest drivers should NOT be installed in safe mode.) & asks for a reboot. 4 Reboot as instructed, then screen blanks after entering password; pretty much what I've gotten from day 1. > Now, just today I tried something I saw somewhere here (?) where A I reboot the PC (after 1,2,3 above) with my monitor OFF B Enter my password 'blind' C I finally get to a proper desktop which appears to be using the correct drivers (Refresh rate looks much better) but I can't verify graphics card changes, as this causes a blank screen again. Monitor is the only device plugged into the GF card. Where have I screwed up?

Change Motherboard - Will Win 7 Works ?
I have a question about Windows re-activation. If I change a motherboard/cpu in an Dell PC, will I still be able to use Windows 7 on that computer? I know that I can get the drivers loaded ok in safe mode, but will I need to re-activate Windows 7 to get it working again? I read something a long time ago about hardware changes and activation, but I don't know if this will happen in this case. No big deal if I just need to ring up, but I wanted to check it wouldn't just break.

I looked up 'WIA driver', but that seems to be hopelessly outdated by now. Canon even seems never to have heard about Windows 7, RC or Beta or whatever...

How Upgrade Works On Top Of Vista ?
i have 64bit vista home premium and will want to upgrade to windows 7. but am unsure it get the windows 7 upgrade or full. my vista has been having all kinds of issues (at least i think its vista and not the computer). been getting errors with media center tv (which i dont use anyways), and windows programs sometimes running slow and/or freezing up (which i dont think it should being that i got 4GB ram). i have even done full reinstallations of the OS back to factory condition a couple of times (thinking it might have been a virus or to wipe away corrupted files and essentially start over), yet the same problems persist. if i do a windows 7 upgrade, does that put windows 7 on my computer as it would if i had done a full clean install?? (i know the upgrade leaves my programs and personal files in place). i am just worried that if my problems are the vista OS and i upgrade to windows 7, that the upgrade will "recycle" vista files it needs, and that if those files are the ones causing me problems now, that my problems will persist with windows 7.

UPGRADE From 7057 To 7048 Works
If you want to revert back to build 7048 without having to do a fresh install and re-install all your programs you CAN actually do an "Update" from Windows 7 7057 to 7048. You'll just get a Warning that the version is older than your current and that a device or two might not work --mine indicated the Motorola sm56 fax modem -- but I've got the driver for that anyway if I want to use it. This leads creedence to the fact tha 7057 was "an Interim" build never intended for serious development use whereas build 7048 was actually part of the "True" development cycle. Maybe my English might be mis-understood here -- I am NOT implying that build 7057 is a FAKE but just that it is a "testing" type build designed to check out certain parts of the process -- for example a lot of people experience longer install times before the Language menu comes up (perversly the better your gear the longer it takes to "start"). My advice would be that if you haven't installed 7057 don't bother --stay with 7048 until the next decent "leaked build" or the official RC1. At least you won't have to look at the HIDEOUS logon screen.

ICS: Network Works, Internet Does Not
I have an XP desktop with a broadband (usb modem) internet connection and a Windows 7 laptop that connects to the internet trough Internet Connection Sharing using the desktop via LAN. The problem is that if the cable gets unplugged or the laptop goes in to suspend, upon reconnecting the network will work but the Internet will usually not. The setup worked before using the same Windows 7 installation on the laptop and a different XP installation on the desktop. The only workaround i found to work is restarting the desktop PC and reconnecting (restarting the laptop doesn't work). The settings to me appear to be correct: windows firewall is on on both computers microsoft network sharing client is enabled ICS is enabled on the desktop tried both static ip (192.168.0.1) and dynamic settings on the desktop LAN with no effect workgroup is the same for both computers, but the windows 7 laptop has the homegroup disabled the broadband connection on the desktop is enabled and the network cable is connected.

No Browser Works After Upgrade Install
I did an upgrade install from Vista. Everything about the network appears to work. Network connection is established and shows internet connectivity (appears to be quicker and more stable than under Vista). Ping works for most sites like google.com, yahoo.com, but not msn.com. However, when I try to connect to a web site, either external or internal, both IE8 and Chrome just sit there and eventually time out. This is true for google.com and my wireless router config utility at 192.168.0.1 (internal address). I have two other systems, one Vista, One OSX connected to the same network and they continue to work fine.Anyone else had this problem?
