Jan 31, 2010just bought GTA4, installed it, just to find out the max FPS i can get is 15, i can play many other games, COD4, MW2, on highest settings and have 50+ FPS, but on this i have to set it to the very very lowest settings, to get 30FPS.Ive reinstalled it a few times, updated drivers, even OC'd my CPU and RAM halfway through, to see no difference whatsoever. Also updated it with the latest patch, and still only hits 10-15 FPS.

I have no clue what this means.Already uninstalled and reinstalled all the vcredists (2005/2008/2010 x86+x64 with SP1).Rebooted my system several times.
Uninstall (all vc versions)
reboot 1
ccleaner
reboot 2
install (2005 & 2008 & 2010 x86/x64 versions)
reboot 3
windows-update
reboot 4
nothing changed.
I also tried the "repair" option of VCR 2008/2010 and rebooted, but this did not help either.Everything else seems to work fine.I have run a lot of games today, to test any other game for VCR errors, nothing else is effected by this error.Since several days there were no changes to my system.No system related updates or any driver or config changes at all.
EDIT: I remembe I had one R6030 once, wich also let me not run GTA4. But I do not remember what I did last time. Maybe it is just a simple Registry fix, but the explainations regarding the R6030 error are fror programmers and not for a person like me, who just installs VCR version in order to play a game (and the game requires the VCRs).
Newly Installed Windows 7 Running Slow On Strong PC
Mar 22, 2012I've just installed fresh Win 7 ultimate x64 via USB. Right from the start it was working really slow but it just got worse.
My hardware is decent: Intel i7 CPU, 12GB RAM, WD Caviar 500GB system HDD. Task Manager shows that only 13% of RAM is being used and 0% of CPU. Still, I can barely work on it - it keeps freezing everytime I click on more than one window...
Once I had to do a hard restart since it didn't want to shutdown normally, and then I got startup failure screen. Startup repair didn't do anything but it still managed to boot somehow.
I tried to optimize win process but that didn't do anything either.
I believe it might be the HDD, since I ran Win normally on other HDD with same hardware... But I did use current one as backup storage without a problem.
BSOD Running When Running Intel Driver Update Utility And More Apps
Aug 12, 2012ive been getting BSODs and finally figured out how to debug it with WinDbg (x86) and set the symbols for windows but i cant read the text. ive tried reinstalling my GPU and Java but no luck. when i try to run intel driver update utility as soon as i run it i get a BSOD ive got the minidump here if anyone knows how to read it, so here you go.

Windows 7 Running Slow, Not Running Games Properly?
Nov 1, 2011I'm just installed windows 7 on my 2009 imac through bootcamp. However there are some problems. Ive noticed when i try to play something on windows media player it will tell me that my computer is running low on memory and to close some windows. Also games run poorly if at all. I suspect its a driver issue but have gone through all the auto updates etc.

Oct 9, 2012I am running into this issue of having complete access to one PC running windows 7 from another one that is also running windows 7. One of the PC's is a windows 7 pro 32 bit and the other is window 7 ultimate 64 bit. I have had them setup with public and dedicated folder sharing. But from time to time I find that a file I want to get off one or the other was not saved to a shared folder. I have been looking for a way to allow complete access from one PC to other one (going both directions). I use 2 PC all the times and it really depends on where I am in the house as to what one I am using as one is laptop and the other is a desktop. They are both on the same network. It is just one of the strange things that I have not been able to find a way to get complete file access without the use of software like Teamviewer or others like it.What I would like to do it just go to the network location in the windows explore to get the files I want from the other PC.

Sep 19, 2012Every now and then my WiFi stops working, and if I go to dev mgr, the General tab tells me that "No drivers are installed for this device" for device status. On the other tabs, however, I have all the details on the installed driver, and if I ask Windows to update the driver, it tells me that the best driver is already installed. The problem is solved by rebooting, but I find that annoying. I'd like to figure out WHY it does that. I've saved earlier versions of that particular driver from over the last three years, and the problem occurs with all of the drivers. This is a Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit system. The driver is an Intel driver; the one installed at this moment (it just happened again, and I have not rebooted, since I had a powerline enet outlet handy), and the version of the Intel(R) WiFi Link 5100 AGN is 14.3.1. I have other versions of that driver saved, from 13.2.1.5 to 15.1.1_Ds64. I had reverted to the 14.3.1 because the more recent versions seemed to be worse about the driver disabling itself or whatever it is doing.Coincidentally with this, the event viewer shows that mmc.exe was terminated because it was hanging. I had just run sfc yesterday, and there are no corrupt files that Windows cannot fix, and there weren't even any corrupt files that it DID fix.

May 31, 2011When I logged on to my windows 7 computer it was slow and then I noticed that the clock and date were wrong. I opened the task manager and found that the cpu was running at 100%. After using bleepingcompter website to find that there was a malware I also went through the startup menu and removed unwanted items. I also uninstalled Itunes which was the last program installed on compter. Right now I have malware software called Malwarebytes. I am doing a full scan its been running for and hour and a half. I just checked and the cpu is still running at 100%. The only thing I did not remove was the lastest windows updates.

I got many "class not registered" errors. SFC won't run. When booting to the CD and running SFC, I got the old message about a pending repair, although I can find no trace of one. Clean boot was not useful.The most significant thing I have found, which is probably at the root of this, is that in task manager, there are no instances of svchost running, unlike the usual ten or fifteen that normally run.I had this problem in May, and ended up doing a complete re-install of Windows 7 Home Premium. I would like to avoid going through that again. It's difficult with visual impairment. There is one potential similarity to now and the situaton in May, other than the symptoms described above. In May, I had tried installing a new nvidia card, which Windows wouldn't recognize, so I took it out and when I booted back to Windows, the above symptoms appeared. Yesterday, I saw in event viewer a dcom error, which traces back to the nvidia updatus "user."

My IE 9 (64bit) running on Windows 7 does not show any Javascripts. The Javascripts tag is enabled in the security option and I do see the Javascript with both Chrome and FF, but not IE 9. Also, when I go to IE 9's about box there is no version, cyper strenth or product ID. I tried to reinstall the program, but could not because I would get an error notice that a new version of IE is already installed. I also tried to install IE 10, but it would not install and messed up my IE9 to the point that I had to do a system restore again. I have been searching the web without too much luck.

The microscope (Veho VMS-004) requires its own drivers and program to operate. I have solved the latter by running the program from a U3 memory stick, but I still need to find a way of installing/running the drivers. Can the drivers be run in the same way, and if not is there?
(And yes I know that I am not strictly supposed to be using non-approved drivers/programs on a work laptop, but the approval process takes months to complete.)
Zoo Tycoon 2 Not Running?

What happens is that start it up, changes to windows basic then nothing happens but when I go into task manager it shows Zoo Tycoon 2 Executable is running when its really not.

Nov 20, 2009I recently bought the Bioshock PC-DVD despite having some worries about compatibility, and I've just completed it without having any issues. Unfortunately I still can't install the 1.1 patch, and there's a bit of sound crackle at the loading screen, but hopefully there should be no problems that affect your experience with this configuration. I've heard Steam copies work without problems anyway, but this may not work as it did with my hard copy.
I'm using Windows 7 x64bit, build 7100. Hopefully hardware info is in my profile.
Part 1: Right-click the Bioshock.exe icon and click 'Properties'.
Select the 'Compatibility' tab, and check the box which says "Run this program in compatibility mode for:", then select 'Windows XP (Service Pack 2)' from the drop-down menu.
Part 2: Download Game Booster, install, run, then click "Switch to Gaming Mode!".
A dialogue box will pop-up asking if you want to close other applications. It's up to you what you close, but I'd advise closing them all.
This program temporarily stops all unnecessary processes to maximise free RAM and processing power. It happens to disable all of the fancy Windows effects which I've heard is the main cause of issues with running the game. Don't worry, once you're done playing you can restore all of the closed processes by clicking the 'normal mode' button.
Make sure you save any important documents before running the program, as it won't restore these.
Part 3: Right click on your Bioshock.exe icon again, and select "Run as administrator'.
Part 4: Be nice to the little sisters.
I've read that making sure the Bioshock folder isn't set to 'Read Only' is important, though I've not had any problems with this option still checked.
I know everything but the Game Booster step is pretty much common knowledge, but I thought I might as well go through it all.
