I started getting this error about a month ago. At first I didn't know what it was,but discovered that it meant my Intel HD Graphics menu no longer worked. Installing the latest driver didn't fix it. So I have no idea what to do. Here are the error details: Description: Stopped working Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: gfxUI.exe Application Version: 184.108.40.2066 Application Timestamp: 4b8002d8 Fault Module Name: KERNELBASE.dll Fault Module Version: 6.1.7601.17651 Fault Module Timestamp: 4e21213c Exception Code: e0434f4d Exception Offset: 000000000000cacd OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3 Locale ID: 1033
I just built my first HTPC and for the life of me I cannot figure out why this is happening. Windows works just fine, I can do anything, I can hook up my TV/Monitor via onboard DVI, VGA, or HDMI running in 1080p and everything appears to be fine. When I right click and view graphics properties the screen flashes black and tells me GfxUI has stopped working. Also I can watch video online from some sources (MegaVideo) but others it just brings my system to a halt and tells me GfxUI stopped working. I have the latest Intel drivers (220.127.116.119), Intel Management Engine Interface (18.104.22.1689), and ING interface (22.214.171.1240). In addition, I've also tried numerous past drivers as well. I've also gone through and disabled/enabled .NET 3.5.1, updated .NET 4, got the Visual C++ Runtime, etc. I've done everything the other forums suggest to no avail.
while iam updating my graphics driver of amd,my laptop has suddenly shown an error screen and it was shut down.after restarting it has shown that windows has been recovered from a serious error and after that it is showing that gfxui has stopped working!also catalyst control center is showing that host application has stopped working.can any one tell me how can i fix this problem?
when i turn on my acer (7741z-5731 laptop) i get a message stating gfx-iu has stopped working. i looked at other forums and they suggest installing drivers from intel. i downloaded driver from intel and it says not for this computer. i went acer web site and the only driver i saw regarding graphics is marked intel vga driver. my laptop says intel HD graphics. i'm not sure if this is the correct driver. if not how do i fix this error without purchasing one of those auto driver updater programs.
Recently my computer has been force closing applications like Photoshop and Windows Explorer. It usually happens when I right click in Explorer or try to open anything in Photoshop. When it happens, a dialogue box comes up that says "Windows Explorer has stopped working" or "Adobe Photoshop has stopped working" Under the details it displays this information:
Problem signature: Problem Event Name:APPCRASH Application Name:Explorer.EXE Application Version:6.1.7600.16768 Application Timestamp:4d688122
Wifi on my laptop suddenly stopped working. It has full bars but I cannot access any websites in any browser (Chrome/Firefox). I also cannot access itunes store. I keep seeing a yellow exclamation mark appear on my wifi signal then it vanishes by itself.
The USB's stopped working on my PC. I recently purchased it about a month ago and I think something was installed or was added to the computer because it stopped working all of a sudden.

For nearly half of the .exe files I attempt to open, I get this stupid "---.exe has stopped working" (where --- represents the name of the file). The files I'm trying to open are not video game files, but rather program files.I am currently working on a 64-bit system. I have only had this machine for 2.5 weeks.
I left my Dell laptop running a Sophos anti-rootkit scan overnight. This morning I found six extra windows open, which looked like this: [code] which looks like six randomly generated letters for the application name. I'm not sure if this is anything to do with the rootkit scan I was running, but I'm a bit concerned by it. Does anyone have any ideas about this? I'm running Windows 7 Prof 64.
So i start the game up fine, single player works fine for abit, then when i want to play multiplayer as soon as the game starts and i move it will send me back to desktop with the windows message 'GTA IV has stopped working'It has been fine past couple of months.

installed logitech wireless k800 and trackball. upon installing logitech 'unifing' software (allows one USB dongle to control both devices) the numpad on my computer keybord stopped working. the k800 wireless keyboard is nonfunctional as well
fix a new Toshiba laptop which would not allow the installation of an HP PSC 1315 printer/scanner. After disabling all startups and services other than MS, succeeded in getting the drivers installed. Now I'm trying to clean the crap out of the computer, one of which is "Amazon Links". Will not uninstall from EITHER Programs and Features or Revo Uninstaller. Get the message that is the title of this post. 've seen many threads on the Web about this, but none that had a real answer. I would ordinarily try safe mode, but cannot find any folder with Amazon Links in it, so don't know where it is.
Yesterday my hyperlinks stopped working. So, for example, in Outlook where I can normally click a link within an email to go to the web page, I now can't (affecting all emails). I thought it might be an Outlook problem but today I notice there are other programs which should automatically go to a webpage which aren't functioning.I think I downloaded some dodgy software yesterday and uninstalled it, so almost certain that's what's caused the problem.I am using Win7, by the way.
I'm hoping fr soem input on a recent issue that I've started to encounter where Windows 7 'freezes' and my only option is a 'hard reset' via held power button and restart. This has only started happening in the last week or so, and seems to only (and nearly always) happen after I've shut down a game (one of several) running via Steam. The games themselves will work fine, but after I come back out to desktop/Steam then Windows will stop to respond after a couple of instructions. Ctrl-Alt-Delete will fail to bring up the Task Manager screen etc.
It began when my company's network suddenly wouldn't recognize my user/password to access the folders on the server. My network admin tried to reset my password and even created a new user for me. Inexplicably a new problem arose. Clicking icons on the desktop or the start menu stopped working. I found that opening the file location and clicking the .exe did work. The problem remained when logging in as the local administrator.I found that the problem occurs on all .LNK files.System Restore to a month ago had no effect. Am I mistaken in believing that this proves that the problem isn't in the registry? I did a full disk virus check using the ESET a/v software on the computer as well as with MalwareBytes. No effect.
Recently I began having issues with my alt keys in games. I use a razer lycosa keyboard, as well as an n52te gamepad. Using a gamepad as my main source of imput during gameplay, the alt key is extremely useful as it allows me to have a whole additional set of keybinds with the limited amount of keys the gamepad has in comparison to the keyboard.A few weeks back I was gaming and noticed that if i was holding alt, and trying to use my movement keys (wsad is how I have the gamepad setup) the a, s, and d keys would not move my character on the gamepad or keyboard. If I just press a, s, or d on the gamepad or the keyboard without holding alt, they all work properly. Strangely, alt + W works fine and will move my character forward, and it seems to be only the a, s, and d keys being affected..My first thought was that maybe somehow i had bound something to Alt + a, s, or d ingame so i made sure nothing was bound to those keys. On a side note, the easiest way to do this generally besides checking through manually would be to just bind said keys, and then change that bind to something else. On the keybind screen in games, Alt + a, s, or d would have no effect, as if it hadnt been pressed, and would still be awaiting imput as to what key to bind.
I am running my games as administrator on a windows 7 x64 system, nothing running besides the game client. Multiple virus scans on the machine to make sure malware isnt the cause. Razer lycosa drivers installed and up to date from razer's website, same with the n52te, and i cant think of anything installed recently within the time that the problem suddenly started occurring.Although I initially noticed this problem appearing in games, it is also within windows itself. I guess theres a chance the gamepad/keyboard are going bad...but i had this problem occur a few months back and it seemed to magically fix itself, so i never had to persue it any further. Also the fact that they keys by themselves work properly on the keyboard and pad, including alt, but that when used in combination its as if theyre not even being pressed.
Both USB ports at my laptop (Toshiba Satellite C650, Windows 7 home premium, SP1, x64) stopped working after plugging in and unplugging several Garmin Forerunner 305 watches in a row. Everything looks all right in the device manage (no exclamations marks). I have reinstalled everything that has something to do with USB in the device manager, several times. Updated BIOS and used Windows update to get all the latest drivers and fixes.I have taken out the battery and let the computer "rest" for several hours without any power supply.I have tried to do some changes in registry key according to these instructions: USB ports suddenly stopped working in Windows 7 RC1 - Microsoft Answers (I managed to delete Lowerfilters). And of course I have tried with different USB-sticks, mouses, external hard drive etc. There is no power in the ports. When I plug in my Garmin Watch it does not charge.I installed and tried two registry cleaners (TweakNow RegCleaner 2011 and Glary utilities). After using them I got some hope back when I got a bit of reaction from one of the ports. A few times after plugging in something it started to install the driver but stopped immediately - telling me that the driver cannot be installed because the device is not plugged in (while it is).
I consider to do system restore to factory settings but before that I have to copy and save everything which is a bit complicated since non of the ports is working. If the restore to factory settings does not work, then I believe there is a problem with the hardware and I have to get the motherboard replaced.
got a tosh c650 laptop and just tried putting a cruser blade 16gb stick into one of its 2 usb ports. Now both ports dont do anything .Tried deleting all drivere and re installing (inc safe mode) but no joy...Have I damaged the MB?
well long story short i have been getting an annoying pop up saying taskmanager has stopped working for the last couple days , i have been unable to restore to a previous point and windows refuses to repair using the disk i installed with
I use a Toshiba laptop and I used to watch movies on it all the time until it stopped working. The drive shows there is no disc when there is a disc in there, the same disc I used before with no problems. I have ONE movie that will play and all the others wont work? I had a virus removed in your malware removal forum and they tried to help me with the dvd player but the end result was referring me to this forum
I am in a spot of bother since I have to give an important presentation and all of a sudden my USB ports (3) in HP pavillion dv6(running windows 7 64 bit) stopped working. I plugged my friend's ipod touch to charge from the computer and it did not work and after that none of the ports will work. I tried reinstalling the drivers, restarted the computer multiple times and even ran a virus scan but its of no use.Out of the 3 ports only one says "windows detected a problem with the device", the other 2 wont even say anything. I even checked at the registry keys to see if the USB ports are enabled and they were fine. My warranty expired this December so now I have to pay HP for any trouble shooting
when i wanted to play games there's "X has stopped working", it occured when in the middle of the game or when the game launch. It was also occured with my Chrome, Modem, and even my anti virus.
