Getting Message "Revocation Information For The Security..."
Aug 10, 2012
This started about two days ago. Right after that I was unable to access my bank online sites. Called the bank(s) and they said everything OK. The browsers are running extremely slow and sometimes I cannot click through.Win 7 O/S Browsers: IE, Firefox 14, and Chrome. Uninstalled FF and Chrome, using IE only now.The message is "Security alert, revocation information for the security certificate for the site is not available. Do you want to proceed?" (yes, no view certificate)

I have a notification popping up that says "The operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system Administrator."I know why it is popping up, as I blocked a file from running in my O/S (Windows7-64bit Ultimate), but I would like to disable the message from appearing altogether, as it is so invasive that it will minimize fullscreen movies & apps and pop-up whenever it blocks the file from running. I am logged in to the only (Administrator) account on this computer.I know of 3 ways to restrict a file from running in Windows 7:1.Right-clicking the file and selecting "properties" and then modifying the permissions under "SYSTEM" to "Deny" "Read & Execute"2.Local Security Policy Console3.Group Policy ConsoleI guess my question is.. How can I make this notification 'silent'? (or disable the notification altogether)

I couldn't get OCSP revocation check to work on Windows 7. I installed my self-signed Root and Intermediate certificates (generated using openssl 0.9.8) on my Windows 7 machine. I then go to Internet Explorer and type in the [URL]. The port sends back a leaf certificate which has OCSP URL in the extension. And the leaf cert is revoked. I verified it using openssl ocsp -url http://xxx -issuer Ica.crt -cert leaf.crt -CAfile Root.crt.In IE, type in [URL]. It appears that it took some time (15 seconds) and come back with connection instead of revocation warning. Openssl OCSP responder log says "malformed request". If I ping the same from a Windows Vista machine, there is no problem. Is there a security patch that I need to install or some settings to flip to enable this check? BTW, I do have in IE/Tools/Internet options/Advanced/Security: "check for server certificate revocation" box checked.

I have a Napster service ..and when I play the files after about maybe 25-30 files I start getting a popup saying Media Revocation and Renewel "You must restart the machine to continue content processing" which I did..then it works for another magical number and continues again.I updated Microsoft Security Component Upgrade. This issue seems to be new to windows 7 as I never had this in Xp using the same Napster service and the media played fine.I have not been able to find a solution to end this loop of Media Revocation and Renewel Error Message.

I've never experienced this message before. I have not had a virus or malware be detected in a year. This came up when I tried to close KVIRC, an IRC client program and turn off my laptop via the power button. Was this a glitch or something? I'm really hoping it isn't a virus. I haven't experienced any performance issues so..I should add the laptop appeared to freeze. I powered down, rebooted, and everything seemed to run normally.UPDATE: Microsoft security essentials picked something up with a full system scan. Not sure if the 3 viruses were related.

I recently purchased a lenovo laptop for home purpose around 1.5 months back. The laptop was having already microsoft security essentials (MSE) and mcafee antivirus plus software. Unfortunately, yesterday i was facing blue screen on death type of error (BSOD) error. On one forum, I found that it may be due to the mcafee antivirus software. So, I uninstalled the software as per suggestion. Why MSE was not able to detect this bsod error? Moreover, why mcafee, which itself is a anti-virus software, was causing this issue?
Morever, I want to install good free antivirus software. I am totally confused whether should I install the antivirus software or, the internet security software. Please throw more light on good free internet security software from longer perspective. (I just found that almost all free trials are only for 1 month only)? Moreover, why built-in windows firewall and microsoft security essentials (MSE) are not enough for detecting malacious software. Why extra internet security software or antivirus software is required ?

I recently bought a notebook PC, and was quite annoyed to find that Intel has magically removed the ability to change the Centrino N 130 wireless adapter's MAC address. Before the nutters get in here with accusations of "illegal" activity, I feel obligated to point out that there is nothing "illegal" about changing the MAC address on my own property. Briefly, I want to pose my notebook as a hypothetical attacker, trying to bump one of my other wireless devices off the router by assuming its MAC address. I don't really know what would happen if I did this, because, like I said, Intel artificially crippled the Centrino N 130 through its Windows 7 drivers. Rather paternalistic of them.Another benefit of the proposed experiment: showing the futility of MAC filtering in keeping out the "bad guys." I have been convinced of this for some time, but been simultaneously unable to demonstrate it to my own satisfaction. There is no substitute for actually trying something, rather than just reading about it.
I am also a little annoyed at the Centrino N's (lack of) performance. I have yet to have it connect at greater than 72 Mbit/s, even while sitting less than 10 feet from the router with a clear line of sight.FWIW, my router is a NetGear WNR3500v2. N wireless is enabled. As far as I know, this router is capable of supporting a full 300 Mbit or so 802.11n wireless connection, as long as the wireless NIC on the other end is doing its part (which mine doesn't).With all that in mind, can someone suggest an N-capable wireless NIC that is not purposely crippled by its manufacturer? I would prefer an internal mini-PCIe card, but Intel seem to be the only ones making those. Even a G-capable or USB device would probably serve the purpose, if that's all that's available.

My boss had me upgrade a co-worker's home computer from Windows XP to 2007. I made the mistake of not doing a clean backup of all the documents and other information.eedless to say, the upgrade wiped away all the software and the setup from before. Working with the co-worker, most of the programs have been restored, but there are two issues that right now are the most pressing, which concern Microsoft Outlook and Itunes. The co-worker had a series of older e-mails and contacts saved in Outlook that are obviously no longer there after the upgradeAs far as ITunes, there is a folder for MyMusic but only what appears to be one large file document for the music. What confused me in this instance was that there were 3 songs that were not recently downloaded in that folder. If the co-worker plugs in his Ipod to charge it, will he lose the tracks there? I advised him to contact Apple to look into his account and recover any songs that he downloaded.

What information is in the ntuser.dat file? Is is simply profile information or does it contain information about browsing as well? I use ccleaner to delete the .dat files in the temp internet file area, but I don't want to have browsing history, especially accounts, exposed someplace else.

I just bought the retail dvd of Halo 2 and I'm trying to install it on Windows 7.The install pops up a message box that says Quote: "This computer's performance information has not been created. You should create performance information on this computer before running Halo 2 for Windows Vista.Click Start, Control Panel, System and Maintenance, and Performance Information and Tools." and the installation stops when I hit 'Run' anyway. But I have done a performance test to create a score of 5.9. I have a quad core i7 with 12 gig of ram and a 2gig Nvidia graphics card. It seems Halo 2 just doesn't recognise the performance information.I've searched but I haven't found anyone else who has had this problem.I can't believe Microsoft seems to have locked this game into Vista-specific requirements - that violates the basic future-proofing principles that Microsoft has been espousing to programmers for years.

i usually record PC games using fraps and it got me thinking to how do people record console footage and then put it on the computer. The problem is i dont know the first thing about gaming capture cards and how they work, i do know however that some of them are PCI cards.
1. if a console is connected to a T.V how is the footage captured from the console to a PC?
2. Does using capture cards also provide audio or do you need certain cables (3.5 jacks, hdmis, etc)

I have Windows 7 OS and Microsoft Office 2010 programs installed on my company computer. I need to fill out the Metafile as much as possible. Each time I bring up the Properties under the File tab it has the Company listed as Hewlett-Packard (my computer manufacturer). Where can I go in the Registry to change this or how can I change this to show my company's name permanmently, instead of the HP name. This happens on all of the MS Office 2010 (Word, PowerPoint,Excel, etc.) newly opened files.
