View 11 RepliesI have purchased HP Laptop HP630 in Oct 2011. Four gray lines showing in my laptop. repair/ remove the lines.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a long vertical line (about 4 times the length of the text cursor and about 3/8" to the right of the text cursor) in fields that I would normally enter text. I have tried all of the control panel settings that I think would affect the cursor like themes and mouse pointer settings. This is my wife's computer and she told me that it started doing that a few weeks ago. I am not aware of any new programs except the usual Windows updates and anti-virus updates.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy mom has a Compaq laptop. It has Windows 7. Yesterday, the screen randomly turned a blue-ish green color. The Google Chrome new tab page is where she first noticed. It's pretty much wherever there should be white, there's that funny color. When I restart it, the white Compaq "Q" logo is green instead of white. The "Starting Windows" text is green and the light inside of the Windows logo is green also.
View 1 Replies View RelatedOk I am at my wits end with this computer. I am trying to do a clean install of Windows 7 from a thumb drive, I have used this thumb drive for several successful installs, including one after my issue just to make sure it wasn't corrupt.
PC details Foxconn A74ML-k Motherboard with a Dual Core Amd proccessor, sorry cant find the model off hand. using on board graphics card, and a Western Digital WD6401AALS hard drive and 2 gigs of gskill ram.
This PC was running windows vista just fine before I attempted to Install Windows 7, I have tried to install Windows twice, once with the usb drive and once with a dvd disc both end results are the same. The install will go perfectly smooth, all the way til the final reboot. Once the actual install is complete when it try to first boot all I get is a black screen with a blinking cursor, I cant seem to enter safe mode.
I have searched and while it seems many have run into similar issues is usually due to things such as dual monitor set ups etc. All I have connected is a mouse, monitor, and keyboard. Microsoft lists the motherboard as compatible, I have reset the bios, tried a different hard drive, ubuntu live works just fine, the file system is there. I even pulled the hard drive out of my laptop and plugged it into the pc and I get the same result. Also I tried windows start up repair from the discs, it found no issues.
I would like to know if its possible (and how to do it if so) to justify a paragraph of text in Word 2007 to gradually get narrower. What I mean is, id like the first line of text to be longer than the one after and so on until I end up with something like this,I want the 2nd line to start further to right of first line and end closer to left and so on. Im struggling to show an example but hope you know what I mean. Basically centre justified but going down in a V shape
View 1 Replies View Relatedafter one day of upgrading from Vista to Windows 7 yesterday, my computer's screen saver stopped and had this weird colored line across the top of my laptops monitor...I restarted and right after the boot up screen it shoots the color line across the top of the screen. No matter what I do it just ends with the line at the top. I have a Sony Vaio VGN-FW285J laptop. The thing ran amazing until just a little while ago. I've read that it might be my graphics card, but if that's the case then why does it show the windows 7 setup stuff when I try to reinstall windows 7. I'd dona clean install to see if my problem is fixed (though I doubt it), but I'm afraid of it resulting in my wifi and LAN not working. url...
View 5 Replies View Relatedi've gone to microsoft for help with this issue, been to several tech forums, and even sent a request for help to adobe flash player for help but i have had absolutely no luck.
basically this is my problem...i am a student and i just upgraded my gateway laptop to windows 7 home premium x64-bit for that $30 deal. everything is running perfectly except my on-line videos.
every single time i click on "full screen" to maximize the video size i start having sound distortion after about 30 or 40 seconds. i've checked and it's not my browser (i've tried it with firefox and ie). i went to upgrade my sound driver but i got a message saying that my driver is already up-to-date. i also thought that the problem might be the flash player but i checked on that too and it was also up-to-date.
the best way that i can describe the distortion is that i have this sound that makes all of the noise in the video sound like everything is cracking up under water. hope that makes sense. oh, and to make things even worse...i don't have this problem on Internet. i don't know if Internet formats their videos in a certain way but i can put videos on full screen without the sound distortion. if you'd like an example of the type of videos i'm talking about go to msn.com and look at the tiny little video that they always have on the left side titled "video highlights".
any help would be greatly appreciated...i really don't know what to do. i have a small bit of understanding of computers but i'm not that tech savvy.
my desktop screen suddenly has a 3 inch vertical black line which splits the screen in two and makes it impossible to move the cursor from the right side to the left.
View 1 Replies View Relatedone day it suddenly crashed while i was watching a movie. it displayed random patterns on screen. kinda like part of the image from the video is on the screen then a black strip and random colors. I restarted the unit to safe mode and left it on and browsed the net and downloaded some big files for how many hours and nothing happened.. there are also times when windows is still loading with the windows logo on screen, it crashes. there are also times when the login screen is displayed and it crashes. it just crashes randomly! so i tried to reformat it. i deleted the partitions and created a new one, formatted it then fresh installed windows 7 ( my previous OS is windows 7 by the way) and started installing the basic drivers and after a few hours, it crashed again...thinking that the driver installed might not be compatible, i tried another fresh install of windows (same execution, delete partition, create, install OS) and this time, without installing the drivers, it crashed again after a few hours... sometimes it crashes immediately after turning it on from cold start!
View 7 Replies View RelatedBlue screen and freezing. This is happening frequently but never has any regularity to it. Sometimes happens after a couple of days and sometimes after a couple of minutes. Also sometimes with only one browser window open and sometimes with 15 or more. Happens with both chrome and firefox. Has not happened with other programs as this lapy only gets used for surfing/email/forums etc. Sometimes happens while the computer is sitting idle right after boot. Very strange.

-AMPPAL.SYS - Address FFFFF880042E3443 base at FFFFF880042CB000, DateStamp 4E3FF366
I'm assuming it's a BIOS driver problem, but i'll leave it up to you guys to tell me, you're the experts :P I also tried doing a system restore, but for whatever reason when I try it just says the restore is initializing and it sits on that screen and never does anything. I've left it for about an hour before and still nothing, not real sure what the problem is there either. Right now I'm running the laptop off safe mode with networking and it's working fine, hopefully it's just a driver problem I can fix.
I'm on Windows 7 32bit and let me know if you need any more information.
i have a windows 7x64.Yesterday while watching videos my screen started jumping and crashed to a blue screen with(QPR is not less or equal i think) and after that i restarted and it came with other errors. Now when i switch on the laptop it only shows black screen with no option to do anything.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI just installed Windows 7 64-bit last night, and the installation went without a hitch. I started to install my programs and then things started to get a little hairy. Every once in a while (ranging 3 minutes - 3 hours) my computer will blue screen out with a mention of afd.sys. This usually happens when I try to do something with the network (ex: Skype, Trillian, etc.).
I'm too new to this to know how to read minidumps, so I thought I'd give them to you guys and see how you could help me. I'm up for any suggestions on how to fix this problem. Reformatting is not an issue, as I have time to spare (when I'm not at work). My system specs are up to date in my profile.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was just searching the internet- probably on facebook 2 past Friday when (I think) I opened a new tab on Firefox, and everything closed and shut down. Now, it had shut down like this before a couple days before.. However, this time a blue screen of death appeared right after I went into normal mode after the restart.
I tried it in safe mode.. I am able to get in to the log in screen.. then the waiting screen.. then the BSOD. I've heard that it's supposed to tell you what the problem is, but I still don't know what it is. I have some pictures below. They're pretty bad though because I only see it for a second before it disappears.
I've tried diagnostics and repair.. Restoring to 2 weeks ago- spring break. Taking out my "new" devises (memory drives and graphics card) that I installed more than 3 months ago and replacing the memory with the ones it came with. The only thing that I THINK I haven't tried is command prompt (which probably won't help because I don't know how to use it) and the restore to factory setting. I have clicked on it, and it has given me an error (pictures follow.) F2-F8-F12- pressed them all.
BSOD 0x6b - Process1 initialization etc 64 bit machine Tried to repair it countless times I used this in rec consol bcdedit /export c:cd_backup ren c:ootcd.old bootrec /rebuildbcd I also tried it with D instead of C I see that there are 4 partitions to this drive system ?system reserved which is C OS which is D Data which is E The first time I tried it, it worked !Then on reboot - it went back to bsod getting fed up with it - am i doing something wrong, or is there another way

Once window update(IE9 update)done and I restarted my computer and played game(PES 2011), the graphic started being not clear and then blue screen occurred. Afterward, I cleaned up the dust in my CPU and also updated my NVIDIA driver to 270.61 version. However, blue screen still occurred repetitively until I was forced to start in safe mode. So, I hope to find out any problems before further action. Here is the error came out from the blue screen.

My laptop keeps going to a blue screen and then will go quickly to the black screen in which I can start windows in safe mode or start normally. It does this several times a day. Then when windows starts again it get a window stating that windows experienced a unexpected shutdown.
