Brightness Settings On NV53 Gateway Are No Longer Available?
Aug 5, 2011The brightness settings on my NV53 gateway are no longer available. The fn up or down combination to change the brightness are no longer functioning however the keys are all working. (fn, up, down, all work fine separately) and when I go into the control panel, I cannot find any settings for brightness, this all happened at the same I got a google redirect virus 'gringo' an admin here, we've cured my virus.

Apr 1, 2012Just yesterday I noticed that my Windows experience index scored my processor at a 2.9 when it has always been way higher than that. It caused me to investigate and download a program called CPUID to see how my processor was actually running, and no matter how hard I tried I couldn't get it to go higher than 800MHz. As of recent my laptop has been getting extremely hot and sometimes overheating and shutting down (even though I can hear the fan running)... Is it possible that my computer is running so hot that it's attempting to protect itself from overheating by locking my computer to run no higher than 800Mhz?

Sep 23, 2012Now, just 3 days ago It started the BSOD issue.I realize that my GPU was the cause of this issue. When playing games or open 3d applications the temp goes 30C to 72C (In 15 seconds) then 82C - 85C constant (in about 30 seconds).Now I've been using MSI afterburner to check my temps and at fulload my GPU will be at 62-72C max temperature but now it's 10C even higher then before. No, I haven't fiddled with the voltage I set the GPU voltage to 1.037v which is the safest (been running this almost 8 months!). The GPU is the GTX 560ti.Is there a way to set the GPU on default settings or reset GPU settings in cmd or other professional way. I have uninstalled the drivers, uninstalling GPU, disabled GPU, disabled PCI-E slot and so on by using device manager and the issue still persist. Yes, I also have clean the GPU perfectly and still the temperature goes up to 82 seconds at 30seconds-45seconds. Yes, I have checked everything is set correctly and so on, I am a PC Tech.
Is the GPU damaged? Yes I have looked at this thread: Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try Mainly, I know its the GPU straight away, I tried checking old drivers, new drivers, another GPU overclocked software such as GPU tweak and EVGA Precision. I am thinking it's the GPU is damaged or the PCI-E is damaged (I have another PCI-E slot on my system and the issue still there). It might be the PCI-E frequency? but it's set to 100 which it meant to be, I just hope is software related because I don't have the money to buy a new card. Did the dump files help?

I have no idea what to do, there may be a registry value that can be changed to do this in the same way that adding two to the value at HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Keyboard\InitialKeyboardIndicators turns NUM lock on at startup or there may be something completely different. I know that the touchpad can be disabled at startup because my computer had it disabled on startup before I had to reinstall windows and all of my drivers and programs. Everything else on my system is exactly the way it was before but I just can't keep the touchpad off.

Jun 21, 2012My touchpad is way too sensitive and I have no way to adjust it. I have a HP Pavilion dv6000 notebook that came with Vista but has been upgraded to Windows 7. I tried following other threads to fix this but my situation seems to be different. I tried downloading new drivers but the message I get says there aren't any drivers for this notebook with this OS. There is nothing anywhere on my computer that says Synaptics which I thought I had before the upgrade. I have Mouse Properties with tabs that read: Buttons,Pointers, Pointer Options, Wheel, Hardware. Nothing about a touchpad at all.

Jan 1, 2012Today my laptop keyboard and mouse stop working for some odd reason because some weird anti vurse popped up on my computer freezing it so I restarted it . I thought my computer frozen so I would restart it , but I just hooked up my keyboard and mouse and they work just fine on the laptop , but when i unplug them i can't use my keyboard or mouse to my computer. I am not sure if i pressed something to make the touchpad and keyboard stop working .Maybe I could have put in sleep mode or something.

Typing along and it somehow highlights everything and if you aren't watching and aren't fast, the next key stroke zaps everything.So I found before on my old lap top that the fn key and the f3 key together will work as a toggle (that sometimes irritatingly toggles its own self) to turn touch pad on and off.On my new laptop I found it had a control to completely disable the touchpad which was way cool, one time, done. Now amazingly enough the control is not locatable and the touch pad is activated and the fn f3 fix does not work either.computer manufacturer says restore to default settings but I don't buy it there has to be another way as that will wipe out all my settings and more?

My Dell laptop touch pad is working fine for moving the pointer and clicking but the scrollbar for web pages etc. that runs vertically down the left of the pad does not function at all. I have had a look around the Device Manager but I cant find the pads entry to update it. Perhaps this is just something that is incompatible with Windows 7...

Touchpad/ Keyboard Freezing
Jul 29, 2009Monday afternoon I turned my computer on and noticed that every two minutes or so the computer would freeze up for up to 15 seconds, after which I had another one-two minutes of uninterrupted use and then it would freeze again.
The Computer Dell Inspirion Laptop E1705/9400 Windows 7 and Windows xp 40gb and 120gb HDD 1gb ram Dual core (centrino?)cpu need more info? ask.
(only on Windows 7)I'd done two major things in the past week and neither one of them could have had caused this because there'd been so much time in between. The first was I networked a couple folders on my hard drive so they were accessible on the rest of my home network (on Friday). Second I'd installed GIMP on my computer (Saturday night).
(only on Windows 7)I did a restore point from about a week ago, still had the same problem, then I tried uninstalling GIMP and turning off file sharing, still nada.
I thought maybe it was a software problem and because I had a website due in a couple hours I thought I'd swap out the Windows 7 hard drive which I was using and instead use a hard drive with Xp, Oddly enough all the problems I've mentioned up to now and the problems I'll mention persisted on both platforms (unless otherwise stated), also note I hadn't used Xp in months (about 3 months ago was the last time I'd used it in a computer.)
After messing around some more I noticed that my touch pad wasn't working at all (I'd been using a external wireless mouse until then) The drivers somehow uninstalled themselves and pretended to not work when I reinstalled them.
The only thing that kinda worked was booting in safe mode, then the courser would freeze but not anything else. When you look at this with the fact that the touch-pad doesn't work and the problem persists cross-platform, it begins to look like a BIOS or hardware problem, not a software thing.
Other Weird Phenomenon
(only on Windows 7) Stumble Upon doesn't show up in the toolbar even when it's enabled and checked off as supposed to be there, in Firefox.[this one is just weird... it could be that I updated it and didn't realize and it's not playing nice with some other add-on, I'll look into that.) On screen keyboard also wont work in safe mode while courser is frozen (but mouse isn't). When I access files through file sharing from a different computer they are also subject to freezing, meaning that if I have a HTML file open in notepad ++ ( that's on the laptop) every two minutes or so it'll freeze up for 10-15 seconds.
HP DV2000 Touchpad Problem
Aug 7, 2009I have upgraded a HP dv2000 (HPdv2171cl) to Win 7 and now I have a touchpad problem. I have installed the HP Vista driver and the Synaptic driver trying to get the touchpad to work, as well as scoured this and other sites for advice. The touchpad is jerky and the scrollbar on the side is not functioning.
The only thing I can find that is out of place is that under device manager, there is listed "other device" Unknown device.?
any ideas?
Msi Gt628 Touchpad Issue
Oct 7, 2009i have msi gt628 notebook and i installed there Windows 7 x64 but i'm unable to scroll with touchpad . Windows is recognizing this device as wheel mouse and on msi web there is written that windows has implemented drivers for pointing devices so there is know driver available. i have already tried synaptics driver v13 for vista x64 but it didn't helped so i will be grateful for every piece of advice.

Nov 12, 2009I just installed Windows 7 Home Basic on my wife's laptop. Everything is working great except that the scroll feature on the touchpad does not work. I checked Device Manager and it says it has a PS/2 Mouse instead of a Touchpad, so I assumed I am missing a driver. Here's the issue. I have tried about 8 or 9 different variations of the ALPS and Synaptics drivers for Windows 7, all with the same results.
Everything works great after rebooting, then shortly after, the scrolling will become erratic, and finally the cursor will lock up and the machine will start beeping. The keyboard continues to work, but no mouse functionality whatsoever. I think I just have not found the right driver for this...the one I had previously installed was for XP so I don't think it will work under Win 7. Does anyone know where I can get the right driver for this laptop?
