I have been choking along with Windows Vista Home Premium for as long as I can stand it on my Gateway FX6800-01e. I just purchased the Windows 7 upgrade family pack and want to start with this PC. I have seen several forums here about the FX6800-01e, but nothing addressing a Windows 7 upgrade.My main question is: Has anyone else performed this upgrade on their FX rig? I know these Gateways can be a little tempermental, so I was wondering if I should expect any hangups when performing the install.
After an upgrade from Windows XP to Windows Vista 32 (all drivers, modem, audio, etc. found on Gateway support windows vista 86/64)to Windows Business N 64 I cannot find certain drivers that are compatible with Win 7. I have tried the win vista 64 drivers with no luck. I have searched, for two days, for drivers AC '97 2.3 Compliant Audio (Conexant Audio 6.14.10.0575 from Gateway website), and the PCI Modem (Conexant7.22.0.0 1.4 MB 08/03/2010) do not work. I searched the Conexant website for drivers, again no luck.Other than that, after a HDD upgrade, 2GB memory upgrade this old machine, supprising, it runs very good.

I own a GateWay laptop NV51B15u series. I was simply wondering if I would be able to upgrade the processor to something more powerful. Currently it is 1.6 GHz, and I play a lot of PC games, so wanted something a bit faster, at least 2.4 GHz. I know this is not a gaming computer, though it has surprised me, and I love him. Even runs Dead Island full graphics, which surprised me. Anyways, my current processor is a 1.6GHz dual-core AMD E-Series.
Recently, my computer has been losing it's connectivity. I've troubleshooted and these are the multiple errors I get:
-wireless network connection doesn't have a valid IP configuration
-the default gateway is not available
-the dns server is not responding
-the connection b/w your access point, router, or cable modem and the internet is broken.The most common error I get is the default gateway is not available.
My computer has had sporatic blue screens at the end of windows 7 bootup. The diagnostic tools will not run. Gateway recovery management will run, but when I select the option for a restoration, it says my hard drive is not in the factory default (and aborts). I'd like to just restore the computer--any ideas on how to reset the hard drive factory default or to get around this error?
I am trying to install windows as a clean install, in that I want to format the hard drive fully during installation, rather than trying to upgrade from inside the OS. I currently have windows vista installed on the machine.I insert the disc, restart the computer, it boots the disc, I get to the menu, choose install, and instead of going to upgrade or custom, it says it cant find some drivers.
I live in a student shared house which has a WiFi network set up. It has come to my attention that my network has recently gained a gateway between the router and the internet which is visible through the windows network map, myself and my housemates all connect to the internet through the router but it appears that this gateway is linked to one of my housemates, right-clicking the gateway brings a drop down menu with his computer name in the list.Since this gateway between the router and the internet connection has appeared there has been a noticeable performance loss to the network, being the only gamer in the house this has affected me the most in games having higher pings and dropouts all the time, although i understand that is also normal with using WiFi it has not been that much of a problem until now.I would like to ask how and why he is able to create gateway between the router and internet connection and how to stop it, i would like to also point out that the individual love his torrents and has possibly found a way around the bandwidth limiter in the router, he has currently denied any foul play but has tried other things in the past.
I will loose internet connection and get this error if I open a bunch of websites at once or try downloading something. I have 30 mb/s cable internet and have never had this problem before.
My wife bought a refurbished Gateway computer which we've had a lot of problems with. Long story short - I want to reinstall Windows in case there are corruptions or other issues. Now, the last time I had to reinstall Windows was back in the day when we got discs. I googled how to do it and it pointed me to the control panel recover option, although when I try to do that - the computer informs me that I have no "image" to recover from. At the same time, my computer did not come with discs.
windows 7 comes with the drivers for the gateway w650i dvd drive and microphone? The gateway 650i came with vista already installed.I reformatted the hard drive and did a clean install of windows 7. The only thing I can't get windows 7 to recognize is the dvd drive and microphone. I have not did any windows 7 updates yet.
I am trying to perform a system recovery on a gateway laptop and have the system disc inserted and running.I then reach a screen that reads,"Select Restore Type", but it will not let me select anything but Exit.

Same as with the graphics drivers, I am having problems with the audio driver too. It has AC 97 2.3 Compliant Audio. Complete specs here Gateway Support - MX7525 Notebook Specifications I tried with the drivers from Realtek (Vista/Windows 7 (32/64 bits) Driver only (ZIP file)) Realtek The driver installed to completion, but it didn't work. Still showed a question mark in Device Manager and a red cross in the speaker icon in taskbar.. Followed salaadin19's method from here ZV6000 Audio x64 solved on the above driver. Couldn't figure out the appropriate inf file to edit (it has a zillion inf files), so uninstalled it. Followed his advice from here ZV6000 Audio x64 solved and downloaded the AC 97 driver from HP's website. Installed it as it is. It also installed to completion but showed the same question mark in device manager and a red cross in the speaker icon in taskbar. I then edited the inf according to his advice and now the question mark is gone in device manager and the red cross in speaker icon has disappeared in taskbar. Now comes the funny part. As in a successful driver installation, I can see all the audio devices on double clicking the speaker icon in taskbar. I can play any audio file. The equalizer sort of bars dance up & down in the speaker icon in taskbar as it should be when some audio is output, but I don't hear anything from the speakers. Tried maximizing the volume
I've reinstalled my Windows 7 because of a hard drive curruption/blue screen of death. When I reinstalled Windows I realized that I didn't have my Gateway Tools installed. I needed the Gateway updater to update my Gateway drivers and I also realized the Gateway logo isn't shown anymore on the Windows 7 properties. My Microsoft Speed Score is lower than before for some odd reason (4.9 - 3.6 with the latest Intel driver) and I my computer's fan is louder and is heating up faster than before. This settings work on all XP OS but doesnt work with all Windows 7. It works for 5-10 min then it says no connection. After set IP it works then doesnt work. If i ping 10.100.20.1 -t it pings as much as i want until i stop and if i restart ping it doesnt work, while first ping i can access to internet after stopping the ping no internet also, That win 7s works with normal ip configurations like: ip:192.168.0.10 gateway: 192.168.0.1
Does windows 7 have problem with different gateway problem? or is it a bug?
I'm in need of device drivers (mass storage, pci modem, and sound) for a Gateway MX6421 laptop running on Windows 7. Gateway support site is no help and a few of the paid for Device driver softwares have not been productive either. unloading Windows 7 and going back to XP would be helpfull..

I bought the Gateway All-In-One ZX6980 that was pre-installed with Windows 8 (which i HATE).I work from home and they do not support Windows 8 so I had to downgrade. I wiped the hard drive and did a clean install of Windows 7. The one thing that is missing is the network adapters
