today i installed GTA IV on my pc.[code] i run a lot of games (like Unreal Tournament 3, Assassin's Creed 2...) at medium/high settings on my computer. but with GTA IV i must set ALL video settings to minium and i must play at 1024x768 to get a playable framerate in GTA performance test i get 25 fps at lowest settings, and 23 fps at highest settings.

View 1 Replies View RelatedBasically, whenever I start the computer up, it gets to the Windows login screen and loads it, at first, in full resolution (2048 x 1152) but immediately changes to 1024x768. Then once logged in I have to go in and change it back to full resolution. The problem started after I disconnected my monitor and connected it to my laptop with a VGA cable. Typically it's connected to this computer via DVI. I was thinking it might be a cable issue- one of the pins got damaged or something but I don't have another DVI cable to test with.

What I've tried:
Updating windows
Re-installing The ATI driver and all the ATI software with the current version- reinstalled it with a newer version and reinstalled it with an older version. (I'm back to the newest version now)
Re-installed the Samsung monitor drivers
Ran an AV scan- no issues found.
When I'm playing high or medium end games on my laptop, they often lag even with the quality turned down to the lowest. These are my specs:
AMD Quad-Core A10-4600M @ 2.30Ghz x4
8 GB RAM
750 GB HDD
AMD Radeon HD7660G + HD 7670M Dual Graphics
As you can see I should be able to play most games on medium or high quality settings. I've tried using GameBooster, but nothing improved.

View 5 Replies View RelatedNow, just 3 days ago It started the BSOD issue.I realize that my GPU was the cause of this issue. When playing games or open 3d applications the temp goes 30C to 72C (In 15 seconds) then 82C - 85C constant (in about 30 seconds).Now I've been using MSI afterburner to check my temps and at fulload my GPU will be at 62-72C max temperature but now it's 10C even higher then before. No, I haven't fiddled with the voltage I set the GPU voltage to 1.037v which is the safest (been running this almost 8 months!). The GPU is the GTX 560ti.Is there a way to set the GPU on default settings or reset GPU settings in cmd or other professional way. I have uninstalled the drivers, uninstalling GPU, disabled GPU, disabled PCI-E slot and so on by using device manager and the issue still persist. Yes, I also have clean the GPU perfectly and still the temperature goes up to 82 seconds at 30seconds-45seconds. Yes, I have checked everything is set correctly and so on, I am a PC Tech.
Is the GPU damaged? Yes I have looked at this thread: Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try Mainly, I know its the GPU straight away, I tried checking old drivers, new drivers, another GPU overclocked software such as GPU tweak and EVGA Precision. I am thinking it's the GPU is damaged or the PCI-E is damaged (I have another PCI-E slot on my system and the issue still there). It might be the PCI-E frequency? but it's set to 100 which it meant to be, I just hope is software related because I don't have the money to buy a new card. Did the dump files help?

Restore works, but nothing changes(Ugly Virus, I have tried everything, nothing will install) I just want to start over. It is a sony vaio, I dont have an image backup. View 5 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to access my mouse settings to change the speed of my mouse and the touch sensitivity and every time i go to start > control panel > mouse and try to click on it nothing happens.So i did a little test to see if its actually trying to load the file or not and i open task manager and click on the mouse setting and i saw some processes opening and after about 2 sec it disappears so i guess the files are trying to load but it being intercepted by something or i could be completely wrong.After that i run my laptop on safe mode to see if i can access my mouse settings and no luck there because the mouse setting i was looking for wasn't there to begin with. i guess that's because of the safe mode that limits the files and driver and only allows necessary ones run.

I want to restore the comp using the acer feature "restore to factory settings". But I wonder, must I have a Win7-installation CD after the restore?? Because the computer came with preinstalled Windows 7 when I bought it. Keep in mind that it's a factory settings restore not a complete format c (i think) I've done a backup on hardrive "D" of my current system in case of anything going wrong. If a Cd is required, could you tell me another way to format the comp without buying the CD? My security center is damaged, so restore to point doesnt work either. If you got any solutions to how to start security center except setting it to "automatic" in services.msc (Since this doesnt work), please post 'em.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have new Sony CW laptop running Windows 7 (64-bit) with an Nvidia GeForce GT 230m graphics card.The tiny problem I have is that I can't adjust the video settings (colour/contrast/brightness etc.) in Windows Media Player 12 as I am used to being able to do in previous versions. I use this function all the time and it is not enough for me to simply change the global settings as I know it should be possible within Windows Media Player.I updated the Nvidia driver and downloaded the K-Lite codec pack (too complicated - didn't know which codecs to adjust) with no result. The Nvidia control panel settings are all set to 'use the video player's adjustment controls' and I have had no luck adjusting any of the options.I have read online about video overlay, but I cannot find any options for this in the Nvidia control panel, and I don't even know if that is the problem. I also looked at the Display options in the Control Panel but nothing worked.
I discovered that the Brightness/Contrast controls do work in Quicktime and KMPlayer, but I've still had no luck achieving the same with Windows Media Player 12. I downloaded the Windows 7 Codec Pack to no effect. Here is a list of the codecs installed according to the technical info on Windows Media Player:

It does it more frequently at times and not so frequent at other times. Iv had another program on my computer for a few months that has run great everyday of the week up until today. Iv always run this program from the desktop shortcut, it has a system check and it always goes good except now when i try and open it from the desktop shortcut the system check looks like what i attached its supposed to have all green check marks. i can run the program now but i have to open it thru my internet explorer. and the desktop icon changed for the programs shortcut.

However when I try to restore my laptop to its factory settings, I get stuck. Upon booting up my computer I press f8 to get into the advanced boot menu. From there I select system repair but after selecting that, it always gets stuck at windows is loading files. I don't have any Windows disks (it's 2 years old and I'm fairly sure I wasn't provided any), so I'm trying to do it through advanced boot options. Any sound will wake it back up but if it's only a ping it doesn't wake fast enough for me to hear it. This didn't happen with this same hardware on Win2k (I skipped XP and Vista).I went through the Advanced Power Settings but under Multimedia I don't have an option for sound.I'd rather not disable power saving completely, so I'd like to find a way to prevent the sound system from going to sleep at all.
