Last time a few months ago I wanted to monitor the internet usage of computers, I know have a solution. I now want to know, what FREE software that can fulfill all the following requirements:1. Be installed on the central server that provides internet access ONLY, not on client computers2. Monitor what web URL's have each and every client have been to3. Is not a demo or trial version of the software; it is simply just free software.4. Install on Windows 7 computer There is no requirement as to the content of the webpages accessed or sent, simply the URL's is sufficient, though it'll be good I have already tried:- Wireshark (Doesn't categorize data and it doesn't filter out the data)- MING Network Monitor (is not free software)- Spiceworks (No such function)- GFI web monitor (not free software)
I am running Connectify on a Windows 7 laptop. I am currently having issues with something eating up all the bandwidth and I want to see if there is any software that I can use that will monitor each computer's amount of internet usage (WireShark won't do, if it can please tell me how).
I'm currently using GTS 250 but HP Display Assistant is not compatible to it according to:Portrait Displays, Inc. - HP Display Assistant Support - Compatibility,What other programs that I can use to tune my monitor display?
I have been looking for network usage monitor freeware that is compatible with Windows 7 with no luck. I need it urgently to report my own monthly usage to my landlord so that my flatmates cannot lie about their usage in working out porportions of the broadband bills. Please post download links if you happen to know any. I have had though luck with any Windows XP only freeware of this sort.
I am looking for a program which can effectively monitor the time a user spends on a computer, perhaps by looking at keystrokes/mouse movements, or something else...either way, I'd like to be able to compare the usage time on several computers. If I could monitor these times remotely, that would be great, but it is not necessary. It would also be great if rather than just saying "user x spend y time on the computer today", it would log it, so say between what times the user was active.
i have just finished a remote assist with Microsoft to try to resolve a problem i am having with my win 7 os. It appears from my trolling the forums that it is not an uncommon scenario. As i use my machine i see the memory monitor gadget showing more and more usaage of ram until finally i get a "not enough resources to run application" prompt.
The guy from microsoft cleared my cookies, my prefetch files, google toolbar etc without effect. He suggested that some of my optimising utilities could be the problem until i explained that i had installed the to try to CURE the problem. He finally cleared off without saying anymore and i was left a link if i wanted to resume the chat support. This link didn't work. Any comments would be great.
Take advantage of tools to monitor memory usage in Windows 7
Ever since I discovered how to use the Windows 9x’s Resource Meter to keep track of system resources and prevent system crashes caused by depleting system resources when running more than one application at a time, I’ve made good use of Windows monitoring tools.
Over the years Microsoft has vastly improved the primitive Resource Meter and increasingly made it easier to see what is going on with the operating system’s use of memory. With Windows 7, I’ve discovered some slight, but notable, changes in the way that memory usage is reported on the Performance tab of the Task Manager. I have also noticed a very nice chart in the new Resource Monitor that provides very detailed information on physical memory usage at a glance.
In this issue of the Windows Vista and Windows 7 Report, I’ll take a closer look at the changes on Task Manager’s Performance tab and investigate the Physical Memory usage chart.
I have 100% cpu usage wiyth any and all internet programs i use, started with firefox, went on to chrome, and now seamonkey it doesnt matter they all use 100% cpu
i am downloading files 24/7 because of my line of work.the thing is many times i need to browse sites without stopping the download: so for some time now i use the speed limit in my downloadmanager; but unfortunately a lot of time i forget to but the speed to full win i finish, & when i get back to work after few hours i see that i didn't download many data.is there a way that gives my browser ( FireFox OR Chrome ) the ability to steal the speed from the download manager while i am using it, & once i stop my work in it ( even while the browser is opened ) gives the download manager all the internet speed back?
How can I limit internet access for a user like 60 min in day or maybe 20 mb daily. In the Windows 7 parental control i can only limit full compiter access.
One of my computers keeps crashing while doing tasks like browsing files on the HDD or surfing the web. I'm attaching a copy of the minidump file. I've looked at the result from the Windows Debugging Tool, but I'm not sure how to read it as it's my first time. I did note the names "fltmgr.sys" and "SearchIndexer" stand out.I'd like to point out that no new programs were installed prior to the BSOD's and that I've updated all of the drivers that I could find for the motherboard since the BSOD's. I could not get the BIOS to be updated because Gigabyte doesn't seem to have a 64-bit version available. I'm currently running a thorough disk check on the HDD.
Computer spec:
- AMD Athlon II X2 250 Dual Core Processor - Gigabyte MA785GM-US2H Motherboard - Western Digital WD5000AAKS Caviar Blue Hard Drive - Patriot PGS24G6400ELK Gamer Series 4096MB PC6400 DDR2 - OCZ ModXStream Pro 500W Modular PowerSupply
Things I noticed before crashes:
- Internet stops working - Computer becomes sluggish - Seems to crash while multi-tasking (multiple windows, downloading+browsing, etc.) - Windows Update is unable to install SP1 for this machine. It downloads but fails to install.
I am experiencing audio playback stuttering. I checked if this is due to processing or ram usage, but nothing was wrong there as audio was playing well under high processing load and high memory usage. But recently, i found that when i browse internet or download something, it starts to lag. I am using winamp 5.63. I came to know that a few other people are experiencing this problem too, but i didnt find any solution.
Basically.. I have a orange LED light that blinks like crazy when I'm downloading something.. but what's wierd is.. Once I've finished the download, Sometimes.. It just keeps blinking forever!
That tells me that it's downloading from somewhere and I can't tell from where exactly.. Luckily.. Uninstalling the wireless driver & reinstalling it solves the problem but it tends to come back eventually..
So what I am requesting from you fine people here @ SevenForums is for some type of Internet Bandwidth Monitor which I can use to see where my laptop is downloading from & hopefully stop it completely so that I may use my broadband speed for something more.. For me & less for what I don't want.
This happens randomly, starting about a month ago. I'm on Windows 7 64bit, and every so often my monitor would flicker black just once, and once it goes back from blackness for a second, the task bar would be totally plain and white. The internet would also be disconnected with no way to go back to normal unless I restart. Half the time, the computer crashes after I restart making me use a restore point.
Does this have to do with hardware? I run diagnostics and memtest86 and half the time it says something is wrong with my RAM, then when I reinsert them, the tests say I'm ok. Then when this happen again, my ram tests faulty again. I have no idea what's going on. Any light on this situation would make me very appreciative.
Can anyone recommend a free bandwidth monitor for Win 7? Specifically, my network speeds sometimes drop very low. Does a utility exist that will list in realtime all services on my system that are using bandwidth, and how much bandwidth they are using? I've found a couple (Axence Net Tools, Networx) that list all open connections, but they don't show me how much traffic is moving through each connection.
I have a ACER D255 netbook with intel atom N550 (1.5ghz, 1mb L2 cache) 1gb DDR3 memory and 250 gb hdd. lately it has been a tad slow and freezing up will using google chrome. my task manager says right now that CPU usage is 4% but Memory is at 75%, sometimes up to 90%. it also says that i have 89 processes running.
I have had my laptop for around a year now, and it's always been pretty fast for a cheapish laptop, It's an advent modena m100 in blue, but recently it has started getting real slow, like my CPU Usage is at 100% all the time and my Physical memory usage is running quite high aswell, without even having any programs open.
When I first boot up the machine and start using it (win 7 ultimate 64bit) the memory usage stays arround 40%. If I keep using it, the memory usage will slowly increase until it reaches 99%. If I boot up the machine and just leave it there for a couple of hours, the same happens.I try to restart (via windows), it logs off, shuts down the system, the coolers keep spinning, the motherboard lights are still on, but it doesn't boot up again. It remains like that. I have to restart via reset button or power button.
I have windows 7 but cannot view an email as it requires IE 8 but I thought it was already part of the windows 7. can you help this computer illiterate.
If I am surfing the net or looking up something on the net, my computer will almost come to a stop and get very very slow, when I go to the task manager, I find the CPU usage at 100% and just stays there. When I look at the processes there are several that are high (DWM.exe (20-23%, Taskmgr.exe, FireFox.exe
I am using windows 7 ( 64 bit ) my cpu usage is now 100 % and memory usage is almost near to 2 GB..I installed Avast months back.now i have newly installed Microsoft Security Essentials ..
1) when i try to uninstall Avast there is no uninstall option even in Add/Remove program it does not show up in list.
2) When i try to end process of Avast it shows me message ."Access Denied " although i am administrator and only single user
3) What i want just to keep my CPU Usage down ( almost 5 to 10 % Max )because i have not installed any thing to use CPU usage like 100 % I have visual 2008 with Sqlserver 2005 and office 2007, like these
My Audiodg.exe process is currently using 2,786,070 kB (not just normal bytes, kilobytes) of Ram. 2.66gb+ of Ram! I have searched the web as well as this site for any problems. My audio is working fine though... I have no idea why this using so much ram. Im guessing a memory leak of some kind... I restartand it starts off at a normal pace...
