F11 Key Non Responsive?

May 11, 2011

I am trying to restore the computer to original factory settings AKA "AS FURNISHED" because of a crashed hard drive. The F11 key does not let me get to system recovery and the computer goes to a black screen with a blinking cursor - Windows 7 Operating System. I have a boot disk which lets me get to recovery however, system restore does not work as there is only one restore point so I am screwed. I do not have an image to restore to either

Windows 7 Freezes And Becomes Non-responsive

Feb 2, 2013

i fix washers and dryers for a living, so i'm likely to not know many of the basics. here's what i know: 1) i have an hp 2800 running windows 7 home edition. 2) the unit has a developed a habit of freezing requiring a hard reboot to restart. 3) the problem has gotten worse over time, sometimes with as much as 8 hours between freeze-ups and sometimes less than two minutes. 4) the computer will freeze if i go onto Internet.com and play a video. this is 100% reliable. this will happen in safemode as well as regular mode. 5) the computer may freeze if i'm on facebook or dragging the mouse down screen. it will eventually freeze if i'm playing music. webmusic is also 100% reliable at bringing on a freeze, though it may take minutes rather than seconds. 6) the computer also freeze in safemode, when connected to the internet. this is hit or miss. running windows event viewer, these messages are consistently logged before the times when the computer has frozen up.

Touchpad / Keyboard Non-Responsive

Jan 2, 2013

I have an Acer 5732Z laptop that has never given me trouble until today. I was in the process of updating my GPS when it told me to restart the computer with the GPS still plugged into the USB drive. However, when the windows 7 login screen came on, I was unable and am still unable to get my touchpad or keyboard to work. The GPS is unplugged and still nothing. It's not disabled (touchpad), safe mode/system restore doesn't work and I am past warranty so Acer cannot help.I am currently just stuck on the login screen. Have tried USB mouse and keyboard, nothing.

Laptop Non-Responsive When Wakes Up From Sleep?

May 28, 2011

I've had an HP dv5t laptop for about a year and a half (see specs), and so far (knock on wood) it's been pretty much perfect EXCEPT for one problem that has been happening on and off for the last several months. It occurs about once or twice a month for no apparent reason --- and I don't know if this this is a hardware or a software problem. What happens is that all of a sudden, for no reason my keyboard and touchpad/mouse are completely non-responsive -- and the only thing I can do is use the power button to shut down. When I reboot everything seems fine, until the next time it happens, a week or two later. It can happen when the laptop is running, but more often it happens when I open the lid after the system has been in Sleep mode. (I keep the laptop in 'Sleep' mode all the time when the lid is closed, and only fully "shut down" once in a while.) Everything seems to load properly --- the Desktop looks perfect and all my apps/icons are there, but the mouse won't move and the keyboard doesn't respond.

Windows Not Responding After User Logon, Desktop Non Responsive

Apr 20, 2012

Im having some problems after i boot my computer with Windows 7 x64. After the usual startup process which is fine, it logs onto my user and the screen just goes all black.. No taskbar, icons or anything. Mouse clicking doesn't work, and only occasionally i can provoke the taskmamager to work with ctrl, alt, del.. But what ever i click there it just sends me back to the black screen.. Its really annoying and ive considered just formating it, but the windows cd i have is only an upgrade version which i cant use as it just says the system is too new.. And i really cant afford a new win 7 cd.. Especially not with the soon release of win8..

Windows 7 Kills A Task That Appears Non-responsive But Is Just Slow?

Sep 28, 2010

I am trying to create a DVD using Cyberlink PowerDirector. It reaches 21%, at which point Windows 7 deems it non-responsive and kills it.I tried it on my old Windows XP machine and noticed that it DOES sit at 21% for a very long time (minutes) but eventually soldiers on to successful completion. So it seems that Windows 7 is being a bit eager to kill off this task. Is there anyway I can turn off this feature in Windows ... or increase the time it waits ... or exempt a certain .EXE from being axed?I have tried searching online but of course any search with the term "non-responsive" in it just comes back with thousands of posts on how to kill such tasks, rather than how to not have Windows 7 kill them for me

Intel Rapid Storage Technology Not Working / Windows Non Responsive

Dec 19, 2012

My Windows 7 is running slow however it is different from simply lagging. The mouse works fine however clicking on applications does not bring them up. The only difference I can see is an error message coming up saying "Intel Rapid Storage Technology not working". Any ideas on what I should do or extra information you require?

Windows Task Scheduler Kills Tasks That Appears To Be Non-responsive

Nov 9, 2012

I have scheduled a program to run every morning that will pull data out of our SQL server (the tool is "Toad"). I want to have that data ready when I come in the morning. Problem is, at that time, there are other tasks running on the SQL server making in slower to spit the data out, but it eventually sends it, always. Windows 7 (or the Task Scheduler itself, I am not sure which one) seems to think that the program has become unresponsive and stops it. When I look at the history of the task, it says the last execution status is "(0x0)" meaning completed successfully. I know it did not because the Excel spreadsheets that receives the data is still open and hasn't received all the data it should - it nevers stops at the same point so it is not an issue with my retrieval scripts. If I launch the task manually during the day, when the SQL server will respond in a timely manner, the task will complete successfullly. If I use the tool itself, it never gets killed, and I haven't seen Window complain it has become unresponsive even when it runs for a long time. Otherwise, anyone knows of any settings that would prevent Windows or Task Scheduler to kill what it thinks are unresponsive tasks or at least, change the delay before it thinks so?
