Is there a way to make a batch file that will automatically change Services? My main goal here is to 1 click edit all the services I change from disable,automatic, and delayed. I use the same settings for the entire family that I am tech support for so it makes life easier.
View 2 RepliesBack in the good ol days of xp when I wanted to take my machine off the net and use it for music production I had a seperate hardware profile setup with lots of services (including all the networking ones) disabled. With vista I discovered microsoft had taken this ablity away. So I wrote a batch file which when run as administrator would more or less do the same thing (lots of net stop commands). Now in windows 7 I've written a new one but whenever I run it (as admin of course) a cmd window flashes up for a second & then nothing... all the services are still running

However, these other batch files take awhile to run. and so the entire process takes a very long time, since each "sub" batch file is run only after the previous one is finished.I was wondering if there is a command or way to start a batch file fro the top-level batch file, then go on and start the next batch file before the previous one is finished. In other words, I want the sub batch files to run in parallel in the background. (similar to the '&' in Unix).

View -1 Replies View RelatedIts pretty nice, except that when I get to the login page for windows, it shows a picture of a finger print instead of my user pic. i found out that the image for the fingerprint scanner is part of a file called "BioCredProv.dll" in the system32 folder. So I made a cop of it, edited the copy with a dll editor so that the bitmap image is that of my user account, but now I can't replace the file in the system 32 folder. I've tried deleting the original and replacing it with the edited one, I've added 1 to the end of the edited file's name so it is "BioCredProv1.dll" and then attempted to change the registry to use this new file (but it gives me an error saying "Cannot edit: Error writing the value's new contents." I know it can be changed as I've seen another forum where two people gave two ways to change it (one using an ubuntu linux system to change the system32 file which I don't know how to do, and the other by creating his own new registry file, which I once again don't know how to do.)

Since I don't like the presentation of my MP3's in iTunes I wrote a program in html/JavaScript that does all the work I want. I'm not a great programmer, just QuickBasic (Very Good!) and html/JavaScript. But now I meet a quite different problem. My program reads tags from the MP3 file itself. Reading 3 tags in over 5000 MP3's takes about 70 secs (Win 7 x64). To speed that up I place those tags (tit2, tpe1 and tcon) in the beginning of the file. I have to do that manually for each file with a text-editor, time consuming! But... is there a way to change the place of the tags in a MP3 file in a more automatic way?

View 9 Replies View RelatedMy mainboard was ASUS p5n-mx, its support AHCI so when I install SSD on my pc, its using AHCI mode instead of IDE.This board bios IC is damage now, so I replace it with new motherboard chipset G41 southbrigde ICH7 which is not support AHCI.I have dual boot system which install on separate hardrive, windows xp which on my HDD only need to update driver but its succesfully boot. Another one is Windows 7 installed on my ssd now couldn't boot at all.I'm getting error when boot to windows 7 even on safe mode, I check on safe mode its stuck on classpnp.sys, I tried to googling and found out that is issue with AHCI vs IDE mode on my SSD.on BIOS i don't see AHCI option, only IDE so can I change the configuration of my SSD from AHCI to IDE?I can boot to windows xp, and see my ssd drive windows files but I don't know how to change ssd configuration on that installation.

I have to right click it and then choose "run as administartor" from context menu. View 3 Replies View RelatedI've got this folder. In this folder are 643 sub-folders. I want to change the icon of all of those folders quickly, because doing it manually would be horrible.
Each folder has to have it's own icon. Not all the same one.
Currently the .ico's are in a folder with all the exact same name as the folders they need to be matched with. (if I sort by name, they'll all be in the exact same order, if that helps anything)
example: Mainfolder/A/ needs to have icon "A.ico"
So I've been kinda searching around and it seems things like this can (or not) be done with a batch file, and the desktop.ini. Or something..
I have a batch file that I used on XP to run an MMC that I created for common management tasks. In the MMC I have the ability to run regedit as a root forest domain privileged user (for remote system registry editing), password resets (using AD) remote computer management, and several web links for common sites the team uses. I did this so it was all in one place and it worked awesome in Win XP. When I run the batch file it reports that the directory could not be found.[CODE]
I have verified that runas is in the same place as in XP, as well as MMC. I have run the batch file with elevate access as well as run the command prompt with elevated access (in fact that was copied from an elevated command prompt). The account I'm running it on has admin rights on the box, though UAC is set, I own both the account this was run from and the "root forest" privileged account, this account is NOT a domain admin.This is all being done on Win 7 Pro in a large enterprise domain environmentthis batch file worked and still works on Win XP in the same environment.

It looks like that the If statement is not working. Every time I run this batch file, it runs through all the command lines.and I got a error message said the service is already running.
I have a few different batch files setup to map drives depending what state the user is in that runs upon logon...I am wanting to make it silent, because users tend to close out of it sometimes before it has been completed. They have their pros and cons and so I use them interchangeably.For some work I will use Foxit for several hours at a time and only open something in Adobe on an as needed basis using the right click "open with" context.
