View 2 Replies View RelatedInstalled OS (Windows 7 Professional 64-bit)
Installed Chipset drivers.
Ran Windows Update
Installed Graphics Card drivers - newest from website
Reboot - CRASH - have to boot in Safe Mode & restore to earlier version as system will no longer start properly.
Why? What did I do wrong?
Until attempting to install the proper drivers, it would appear the system is using a default VGA adapter, and not seeing as PCI-e? Are there special drivers to install for the PCI-e boards?
Whatever program I have, say like MSN, Google Chrome etc...When the program is running and is minimized,If I right click on a running program (say like MSN) which takes me to its menu, and then selecting one of the task in that menu (say like you chose to set your status on Away in MSN), It opens up System32 folder instead!?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI can't run any programs from system32 folder (like chkdsk or chkntfs) with Command Prompt (even in an elevated one and I turned off my UAC). It'll return like "''chkdsk' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file."So I have to navigate to system32 folder first then using Shift+Right Click and select "Open command window here" then run the program from thereBut using the usual Command Prompt, I still can run programs from Windows folder (like regedit)

View 1 Replies View RelatedI turned on my computer, Hp Pavilion dv4, yesterday and this message came up:C:WindowsSystem32wswsock.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the softoward vendor for support. This is prevent me from connecting to the internet. I am currently on a co-worker's computer. I am in the process of backing everything up to do a system recovery. Is there another way to fix this
View 1 Replies View RelatedIts pretty nice, except that when I get to the login page for windows, it shows a picture of a finger print instead of my user pic. i found out that the image for the fingerprint scanner is part of a file called "BioCredProv.dll" in the system32 folder. So I made a cop of it, edited the copy with a dll editor so that the bitmap image is that of my user account, but now I can't replace the file in the system 32 folder. I've tried deleting the original and replacing it with the edited one, I've added 1 to the end of the edited file's name so it is "BioCredProv1.dll" and then attempted to change the registry to use this new file (but it gives me an error saying "Cannot edit: Error writing the value's new contents." I know it can be changed as I've seen another forum where two people gave two ways to change it (one using an ubuntu linux system to change the system32 file which I don't know how to do, and the other by creating his own new registry file, which I once again don't know how to do.)
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to write to this folder as I need to replace 2 drivers with more updated versions. I am running as Admin and I have the UAC set to Never Notify. I right click on the folder and uncheck read only. Then I go to the Security tab and attempt to edit the permissions. However even as Admin the buttons to add and edit permissions are "Ghosted Out
View 9 Replies View Relatedi got this message when booting up the comp, "Windows XP could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: WINDOWSSYSTEM32CONFIGSYSTEM"so i followed a guide to fix the issue, this guide,How to recover from a corrupted registry that prevents Windows XP from startingand got my hands on a copy of XP home edtion as dell dont give a copy when u buy off them, anyway, in that guide i got all of step one done using the xp cd and accessing the recovery console, and copying the files listed in the guide.after that was done the comp boots up normally to the log-in screen, only thing is the 2 accounts that were there, now arent, and only an administrator log-in shows up, and iv tryed every password i can think of but cant get in,tryed leaving it blank, tryed "admin" "administrator" "0000" "user" "user1", and cant get in,iv googled and found one identical forum post on the net with this exact same issue

View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to upgrade a computer that is running Windows XP currently to Windows 7. I know that it is possible and that this computer is capable of running Windows 7, and I have the Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade package. However, there was some damage done by a virus on this computer. The virus was removed, but there are System32 files that are damaged as a result. The owner of the computer had this machine custom built, and they don't have any of the disks for Windows or anything to try running a repair. I am wondering if running the upgrade will fix the problems with System32 files or if they will even be a factor in the upgrade.
