basically every time my I open a game or something else that overheats my CPU it takes the graphics chip with it. So whenever I boot my laptop the boot screen goes from black to white from the outside so I have to hold down the power button and wait for it to cool down. Could this be a corrupt chip or a overheating problem or some thing else?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got a Dell Inspiron 580, not very old...everything about it is okay, except the integrated graphics card. Someone recently gave me a GeForce 6600 card, and my GF bought me GW2 in anticipation.
I've got it installed, it seems to be properly seated on the motherboard, and it's connected to the power supply(had to get an adapter to make that work, it's got a 4-pin molex connector and all mine are 15-pin SATA's), but my computer doesn't seem to want to recognize it.
I've been to the GeForce site to try and download drivers, but it says it can't detect any hardware. Likewise, when I'm under Device Manager and I scan for hardware changes, nothing comes up under Display Adapters, it's still just the "Intel(R) HD Graphics" all by its lonesome.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have brought graphics card from friends old computer[DESKTOP]. He lost the driver cd and cannot remember its series or manufacturer. There is a sticker on it which says: GF 9400gt 512 mb. I installed the card win 7 booted up. It detects the card as standard vga graphics adapter, device manager says device is working properly gives me 1024x780 resolution. So I tried 9 series gf driver from nvidia. It says no compatible hardware detected. NVidia auto scan same result. How can I know which card actually i am using? If it is gf 9400gt 512 mb then what is the problem with driver. i just got windows 7 and already see two major problems. one, my graphics card needs to get a driver update but they dont support windows 7 on the website!. I have an NVIDIA GeForce 4 MX Series (yes its old as hell) and ive read that installing the vista or xp drivers wont work regardless. what should I do? does anyone know if i can buy a better graphics card for my laptop?
my friend told me HP laptops are made customized for the specific graphics card and i would have to buy another laptop. i am not down to spend 2000 bones on a new laptop with everything working with windows 7 on this current one with the only flaw an outdated driver!!! Is there some other downloadable updates I can find to get my card working?
also, as some people mentioned before, i cannot get the brightness slider to show up in my power settings options. do you think it has something to do with the outdated graphics card i have? View 1 Replies View RelatedI've completed a new custom build, but have had problems with BSOD from the beginning with any installation of Intel Graphics drivers or the installation of any graphics card.
When I first completed the build, the XFX-7950 Black was installed. I booted to BIOS without issue, but when I inserted the Windows 7 (64 bit) it would boot through the windows logo screen but immediately BSOD right after going to the first install screen.
I removed the graphics card, and was able to complete the full Windows install without issue. I updated Windows and the drivers on the system but as soon as I installed the Intel 3000 Graphics driver, it would BSOD on every restart. I recovered back prior to the Graphics driver install and installed all other drivers. I updated the BIOS to the latest version.
I have reattempted the XFX 7950 multiple times in different slots, but with the same results. I also attempted my Radeon HD 4550 from my old computer but it gave the same results. It always boots through the Windows logo screen, but BSOD within a few seconds of reaching the password screen.
I broke down and installed Driver Whiz, which did detect multiple outdated drivers that I had not caught, but none of these fix the issues.
I've attached the requested zip. I don't think all BSOD's are showing up, as I've had to use recovery points after installed drivers didn't work. The last .dmp on 19 JUL was a Intel Graphics driver install attempt that I pulled off in safe mode before recovering back to the pre-driver point.

I was overclocking my C2D E7500 and I had forgot to boot into windows every time I just went to the post screen and after I had gotten the cpu to 4Ghz/1.4VCore. I tried to boot into windows and it said that "windows failed to start a recent hardware or software change might be the cause" so I thought that the overclock was to high so I turned it down all the way to default and it still says the same thing the last software I put on it was coretemp to check my cpu temp for the overclock. I don't know what to do I'm kinda scared that I damaged the cpu or worse.

I then reformated my laptops hard drive & installed Windows 7. No problems were reported.
However I could not access the data on the 2 external hard drives. Windows 7 reported that they were unreadable and that I needed to reformat them!

The laptop is a Toshiba L455D-S5976 with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. how to take it off of the computer but it was to no avail- downloading Spyware Doctor wasnt possible because the machine's internet connection is shot (due to Win 7 Antispyware 2012). I had Malwarebytes previously installed from an earlier fix, I update the definitions and scanned the PC, it came back with a few results but removing the found items had no effect. Same situation for SuperAntiSpyware and AdAware. I had to yank the malware out through the registry and now nothing can install, the PC is saying that there is no hardware (no ethernet controller, wifi, audio or anything). Windows Aero is disabled and isnt available to be selected- as if the graphics card doesnt support it.
View 4 Replies View Relatedi got in a trade my Laptop which is a Toshiba Satellite L650D-038 ( Not Sure about the -038 ) and i got it with Windows Vista 64Bit and erreased it for installing Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit what worked all very well but when the windows installation finished i noticed that the driver for the graphic card was not installed and also the wireless and ethernet driver was not installed so i checked in different forums and find out that the drivers doesnt come with windows 7 for this Laptop so i got the respective drivers all from the respective publishers and install them. The glitch or Wobbles happens all the time in games in browsers at Word and also here by making this question in the forum, it stops or freezes like 2-6 seconds and then goes on like nothing and then like 1-2 min later it comes again or also earlier. I installed already the drivers from the publishers and also the ones from Windows Update but noon helped me really.

I was stupid and accidentally uninstalled my AMD Catalyst Program in an attempt to update the drivers. Now I cant switch to the card from the integrated Intel card. I can't restore the computer or re-install the program. When I try to re-install it, its doesn't work but there are no errors.
