I've got a Dell Inspiron 580, not very old...everything about it is okay, except the integrated graphics card. Someone recently gave me a GeForce 6600 card, and my GF bought me GW2 in anticipation.
I've got it installed, it seems to be properly seated on the motherboard, and it's connected to the power supply(had to get an adapter to make that work, it's got a 4-pin molex connector and all mine are 15-pin SATA's), but my computer doesn't seem to want to recognize it.
I've been to the GeForce site to try and download drivers, but it says it can't detect any hardware. Likewise, when I'm under Device Manager and I scan for hardware changes, nothing comes up under Display Adapters, it's still just the "Intel(R) HD Graphics" all by its lonesome.
I have been using this pc for over 2 years. In the Spring of this year the pc kept crashing. I have found out that the graphics card is reaching temperatures of 105 degrees C when playing games. I have cleaned all the fans in the pc with air. I have been told the heat sync is probably no longer functioning correctly. GPU temp is 66 deg C when the pc is in normal use and fan speed 40%. As soon as I play games the fan goes to 100% and the temperatures rise until the card crashes.
I just installed windows 7 professional last night and when trying to personalize my theme, i realized that i couldn't change window color. It only gave me the contrast themes unlike in vista where i could choose the color and it would still look like vista. I'm not sure if that last sentence made much sense, but i hope you get the idea. I can still use the desktop backgrounds and sounds, but not the aero window colors.
When I go to device manager, the only graphics adaptor it shows is the standard VGA. When I had Vista I didn't have any problem. But now that I have Windows 7, the OS won't detect the graphics card. Is it not compatible with Windows 7? I saw another post with a fix for the 8400M GT, and was wondering if maybe there was hope for me.
I recently reinstalled windows and replaced my old NVIDEA Geforce 9600GT which finally died with a new Geforce GTX 460. However, when I installed the drivers, it completely disabled my motherboard's onboard Realtek Azalia soundcard, and for the last few days I've had no sound at all. Nothing I've done has fixed the problem, and every time I try to uninstall the drivers for everything relating to my video card, the HDMI audio devices reinstall themselves from no discernible source every single time I boot up like a virus.I'm about ready to take this pathetic video card back to the shop and demand a refund and get a video card that is not going to screw with my computer like this.
I cant not download a suitabe driver for my requirement. i have tried even many of the driver checkking softwares. but no use. then i have manually tried to download drivers but all other versions get download except the one required.pls someone guide me.
I am running XP and intend to go to Windows 7 shortly. I want to cover all of my bases and get my updated graphic driver before the switch. I went to the manufactuer site and they did not have Windows 7 drivers listed yet. I have seen other posts on here about updating Mirage 3 drivers and was wondering where they got them.
guys i instaled the radeon hd 4800 series driver for my sapphire radeon HD 4870 xvapor 2gddr5 graphics card but for sum odd reason when it goes on my desktop it shutts down n restarts after 3 seconds... or less.. What could be wrong ?
i installed the rtm and for some reason i cannot install my graphics card "ati radeon xpress 200 series intergrated" on my computer i use the installer but it doesnt find it, it only has standard vga.
I have brought graphics card from friends old computer[DESKTOP]. He lost the driver cd and cannot remember its series or manufacturer. There is a sticker on it which says: GF 9400gt 512 mb. I installed the card win 7 booted up. It detects the card as standard vga graphics adapter, device manager says device is working properly gives me 1024x780 resolution. So I tried 9 series gf driver from nvidia. It says no compatible hardware detected. NVidia auto scan same result. How can I know which card actually i am using? If it is gf 9400gt 512 mb then what is the problem with driver. In device manager hardware id is like this:
i just got windows 7 and already see two major problems. one, my graphics card needs to get a driver update but they dont support windows 7 on the website!. I have an NVIDIA GeForce 4 MX Series (yes its old as hell) and ive read that installing the vista or xp drivers wont work regardless. what should I do? does anyone know if i can buy a better graphics card for my laptop?
my friend told me HP laptops are made customized for the specific graphics card and i would have to buy another laptop. i am not down to spend 2000 bones on a new laptop with everything working with windows 7 on this current one with the only flaw an outdated driver!!! Is there some other downloadable updates I can find to get my card working?
also, as some people mentioned before, i cannot get the brightness slider to show up in my power settings options. do you think it has something to do with the outdated graphics card i have? So far i havent updated it with any drivers. I really dont want to buy a new laptop...and i also dont want to waste all the money i spent on video games if i cant play them without a driver anymore..
basically every time my I open a game or something else that overheats my CPU it takes the graphics chip with it. So whenever I boot my laptop the boot screen goes from black to white from the outside so I have to hold down the power button and wait for it to cool down. Could this be a corrupt chip or a overheating problem or some thing else?

recently I had a virus that was apparently unfixable so I reformatted the hard drive by using the factory image restore option. This however made the computer unuseable as it would not even turn on. I got Dell to send me the Windows Disk and the Drivers & Utilities Disk. I reinstalled windows and the computer worked fine again....although looked a little odd in the desktop/internet. I installed my game and tried playing it but it wouldn't let me play. It says I don't have the graphical requirements...which is odd because I played the game before the computer had to be reformatted. Even when I click on solitaire I get an error message that says: "Hardware acceleration is either disabled or not supported by your video card driver, which could slow game performance. Make sure you have the latest video card driver installed and that hardware acceleration is turned on."
When I go to device manager and look at display adapters, the only thing that comes up is Standard VGA Graphics Adapter. I've tried downloading every driver from Dell and from the disc they gave me (they are the same files) I unzipped them to the location it wanted but it made no difference. Finally I sat in chat with dell support, whom I hate by the way, and he did all the same stuff I did before saying I needed to try reinstalling windows 7, but this time delete all the partitions, then reinstall the drivers. I did that...twice afterwards and nothing made a difference.
I recently updated my windows vista to windows 7. But for some strange reason windows 7 wont recognise my graphic card. The graphic card I have is NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GT,, and I have tried to install the drivers from NVIDIA website but it wont let me install.. it says "NVIDIA Installer cannot continue" and at the bottom is says "This graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware". I'm trying to update my geforce 8800 using nvidias latest drivers. My problem is that Windows 7 keeps reverting back to the old drivers. The setup runs smoothly but there is no reboot option and the device manager still show the old driver. I have been searching the web for an answer for quite some time now so if you have any idea please let me know.
I have recently been having a few problems with my graphics card running at a high temperature so i read a few things online on how to clean it and then i did so. Now when i start up my computer normally "start windows normally" i get blue screen and the computer re-starts. When i run dxdiag it says i have no graphics card so im not really sure if its broken or if i have re installed it incorrectly.

Which gpu has better graphics performance. I have the choice between those two (Geforce 630m or Radeon 7670m). I'm looking to buy a new laptop soon and that is the two I have choices from. I'd like to know which would be better. It would be for gaming some,Photoshop (graphics design and image editing), Skype, and so forth. They're both around the same price range, so I'd like to get the best for the money. They'll both be equipped with a Intel Core i5. The Geforce is priced a little higher than the Radeon, but not too much. As I said, they're around the same price. I've always liked Geforce, but I'd like an opinion.
