Desktop Always Show Network Drive Unavailable On Bootup
Apr 23, 2012
My desktop connects to my router via a netgear N300 wirelss USB adaptor. Also connected to my router is my media server PC which has a shared network drive. On bootup My desktop looks for the mapped network drive before it loads the USB. So it always shows the network drive as being unavailable. This is soon sorted by double clicking on the network drive icon. Is there a workaround so that the PC looks for the network drive after loading the USB network has been established?

Just combined 2 partitions today, copied back all my program back to my pc that were on my J drive (second partition) to my now 1 partition (c) but when I try to run them I get an error:
"The program (program name).ink is in a unavailable network drive or unavailable."
Also if I try uninstalling, repairing, or re- installing I get the error:
"Error 1327. Invalid Drive: J:"

I have a windows 7 desktop with an SSD and regular mechanical hard drive where I keep my data. I also have a laptop with a small SSD as well. I want to keep the laptop free of non-critical data so I decided to setup a file share between my desktop (Windows 7 home prem) and my laptop (Windows 7 pro). I was able share the files and navigate to my desktop through my laptop. I successfully mapped the folder as a network drive and all was well. Then I rebooted and I was disconnected from it, it remembered that it was there but I needed to manually connect to it and I needed to provide my login credentials. There is no password just a username. Also is there a way to set a timeout because if my desktop is not on and I want to use my laptop, the boot times are much longer compared to when I don't have the mapped network drive on my laptop at all.

I know this issue is a popular evergreen. But I have done my best to go through this forum and all others to find advice - but this time everything I have read doesnot So once again a thread on temp accounts, HP Elitebook 8540w,Windows 7 professional x64 OEM,local network with XP computers as work group,I use the preinstalled system for a year now, automatic Windows updates were disabled in the recent days, system protected by Avast my personal account with admin rights (I call it "xxx") was on D:users with a link in C:users pointing to it (with mklink /d xxx "d:Usersxxx")this had always worked fine, yesterday my system crashed in a BSOD when loading an online 3D viewer. Not the first bluescreen on this system, but for the first time with lasting effects: when I login to "xxx" I only get a temp account (blank default desktop) and the message that the path c:windowssystem32configsystemprofiledesktop is not accessible. This is still the case. Additionally all new accounts I create start up as temp accounts with the same message. Luckily the original admin account is still alright.(all failed, logging into anything apart from "administrator" opens a temp account and brings up the systemprofiledesktop message!

The network drives appear with the assigned drive letter followed by Network Drive, for example, (Q Network Drive I've checked and the volumes are labeled correctly on the servers. Is there a registry entry that needs to be modified in order to correct? The system is a Toshiba R830 laptop running Win 7 64-bit

Two days ago i had a popup message from Mcafee but i closed it without taking a look, was kind of in a hurry. Yesterday morning, after the first reboot, windows started but nothing seems to work.
1. Many services do not start -
Workstation
Server
DHCP client
DNS client
Audio Service
HP Wireless Assistant
and many more
2. Services are missing -Network Store Interface Service (i tried to add it manually through the registry)
3. Windoes Services dependencies tab cannot be accessed, i get an error message "Win32: The specified module could not be found."
4. When i try to start services i get different messages -Workstation - "Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start" (this is the most common message)Audio Service - "The audio service on the local computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs."HP wireless assistant service - This one starts and stops after a few seconds.
5. I have no network access, nor can i connec any USB devices.
6. the "RUN" option is missing from the start menu
7. I've noticed that "bowser" was missing from the services list in the registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetservices tried to add it manually as well, with no success
I did manage for a while to connect my mobile phone and transfer malwarebytes and combobox, but none could solve the problem. Now it won't recognice my mobile either.System restore is disabled for some reason, so that's not an option either.I can't even backup my data and prepare for a fresh installation (which is a bad option as is).

It started a couple of days ago when an error appears on one of my hard drives (second drive) during bootup, but after the first encounter I logged into windows fine and thought nothing of it. A while after my desktop froze and I was unable to do anything so I restarted. The error was still there but I logged into windows fine again, but the desktop froze instantly after I clicked anything and this continued. Now I can only just reach the login screen and it will freeze there.I have been into safe mode and tried various scans. I have ran CCleaner which did not solve the problem, Norton360 fails to do any scan at all and I also used MalwareBytes to scan for malware. During the malware scan it found around 8 infections, but when it started scanning a certain area on my main drive inside the windows folder the desktop froze. The exact same thing has happened on two occasions.
Safe mode now seems to freeze after a short while, including on the login screen and it seems I am running out of options. I want to make formatting my hard drives a last resort as I have important files that I do not want to lose.I have also physically opened my desktop, cleaned for dust and reconnected both hard drives to try and solve the error but to no avail.

I used to have a ton of problems with my network adapter. It would always encounter and error saying "default gateway unavailable"
I recently reinstalled windows and updated the nvidia drivers for my motherboard and when I looked into the drivers folder in Cwindows/system32/drivers, I saw that there was a driver that says nvm62x64.sys and nvm64x64.sys. When I uninstall the drivers and leave the stock windows ones, i only get nvm62x64.
I think this is significant because the fix I found to this problem on a windows support forum was that if you download the vista driver for the motherboard and extracted it to folder, you would find a file named nvmfdx64.sys and you would then rename that to nvm62x64.sys (the win 7 file name). Then you would replace the windows driver with the aformentioned vista driver and everything worked for me and never had that default issue again.
so I am wondering what the heck is that nvm64x64.sys file that nvidia put in there and I think this may be the cause of the problems because everything works without the particular file.
any comments on that theory?

I recently purchased an HP DV7-4285 Laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit installed on it. After spending this weekend "De-OEM'ing" the machine (uninstalling the crap I don't need and installing the software I do need along with optimizing everything), I've noticed 2 things that I wonder if there is anything that can be done to eliminate:First, upon bootup, when the desktop shows up and the few icons show up in the System Tray (I'm old fashioned, I know it's the "Notification area" now!), I get the icon that indicates its searching for a network to connect to. Now I'm really old fashioned when it comes to network connections. I don't use Wi-Fi, and I don't have WiMAX either, nor do I have an air card from my cell phone provider. I only connect to the internet with a wired connection because I simply don't trust Wi-Fi and don't have a need for WiMAX. Every time this machine boots up, it takes upwards of a minute for it to stop "searching" for a network. I only plug this machine into the network to get online when I need to, I don't stay connected all the time. Is there any way of being able to stop Windows from trying to search for a network every time the machine boots up? My desktop machine which has Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit does this also but only for a few seconds.
Second: When I enter my password to log into this machine, it will then put up a screen that says "Please Wait", which is normal, then sometimes that screen will go blank for a couple seconds, then come back saing "Please Wait", then take me to the Windows Desktop. Everything otherwise loads as normal from that point. Any idea why this is happening??? As far as internet security software that is installed on this machine (I wasn't sure if this was the reason for this), I have McAfee VirusScan Plus, Ad Aware, Spy Bot, Privacy Mantra, and CCleaner installed.

I went to boot up my laptop PC and I see H20Insyde asking me for a password. I have no idea where this came from. What could have caused this? I have always booted up and the only thing I see is my normal screen from Windows 7 that ask for my password.

how to create your very own Desktop FTP Client using the "Map Network Drive" in "My Computer" that will allow full access to your hosting account instead of using cPanel 11 or simular. You can also drag/drop all your files/folders straight into your "Public_HTML" folder without any issues.I can assure you this is very secure and being a web developer I use this method of access constantly, this is a known method throughout the development world and most of the developers I know use this method because of it's simplicity and ease of access making life so much easier. If you have problems creating your own desktop access leave a post here and I'll try my best to help.Desktop FTP Client
1. From the desktop, click on "Start" then right click on "My Computer".
2. Click on "Map Network Drive".
3. From the screen, click "Connect to a Web site that you can use to store your documents and pictures", and then click Next.
4. Click "Choose a custom network location", and then click Next.
5. Enter the following into the Internet or network address field:
6. Enter your FTP username and account password when prompted.
Then all you do is drag/drop your files/folders that you want to upload onto your hosting/server on My Computer or Desktop and it will upload them for you.If you have any problems don't hesitate to contact me in this thread where i will try and assist you in creating your "Desktop FTP Client". Using this method is just as secure as using your own cPanel or Plesk (Any FTP Client) security.

Problem Description: I boot up my PC, everything works fine, after an hour or so, my D (Secondary internal drive) disappears and the system has to be rebooted to find it again. Note, this happens whether or not the drive is currently being used.
Note: The drive always appears in the BIOS.
Drive: Seagate Barricuda 7200.11 750GB
Serial number: 9QK1GAKJ
Disk model: ST3750330AS
Steps I've taken to try and solve the problem: Initially I thought the drive was simply being unmounted, so i attempted to mount it again using disk management. However the drive won't appear there either, nor will it appear in system information or Seatools. A disk rescan won't reveal it either. I later, tried to use SeaTools to find out whether or not there was something physically wrong with the drive, but the drive passed all the tests. Peculiarly enough, when the D: drive disappears it also disappears in Seatools. Thirdly, I checked my power settings to make sure i hadn't had some timer for the hard drive to shut off. Fourthly, I checked the bios settings to make sure there wasn't some sort of power policy conflict there as-well. Lastly, I scanned the disk for errors with the windows (with both options to recover bad sectors and fix errors checked) and rebooted. (The problem still occurs) I will be trying to turn off the bios's plug and play settings next, and see if it will work better if i should let windows handle the device detection.

I need to install either windows XP or windows 7 on my USB stick so I can boot my computer from the USB and use it like a normal installation. Articles I read tell you how to install Windows on a USB but not how to allow your computer to boot from the USB like it would be a HDD. I know how to set up my BIOS and I don't need an explanation in that respect I just need a step by step guide or at least a good guide on how to install either XP or 7 onto a USB, not from I've done that 1,000,000 times.

whenever i try to uninstall open office windows installer givs me the error message:"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable"i also get this message wen i try to install program that install via windows installer, but programs that use install shiled wizard uninstall fine.any idea on what might be causing this? i beleve that i must have used windows installer to (un)install programs before but now it wont work something else that may be usefull to know is that my HDD is stuck in read only, and i cannot change the ownership or permissions, so cant take it off read only without the system re applying read only immediately after.

I downloaded RocketDock and I'm having some issues with it while using "Show the Desktop." Whenever I click it, the Dock disappears because the OS considers it like every other program and minimizes it since its blocking the desktop. Is there any way to get it so that clicking "Show the Desktop" won't minimize RocketDock, much in the same way that sidebar is still kept on the screen? Currently, the only way I can use the dock is by minimizing any windows blocking it so that I don't need to click "Show the Desktop" which makes it disppear.

I want to make some "show desktop shortcut" on the taskbar, and when I click on it, it must to react same as when I press Win+M hotkey.
[Shell]
Command=2
IconFile=explorer.exe,3
[Taskbar]
Command=ToggleDesktop
When I save this as show.scf it is react just like Win+D hotkey. But I want to create win+M hotkey's shortcut. If it possible to make this shortcut, when you click on it it must Minimize all windows by effect. And I want to sort folders by myself, for example: I have folder A, B, C, D and I want to sort them not by alphabet or by size.. I should able to put folder D after A, I cant drag them.

If i click on look in folder containing it is there. If I delete it and restore it will then show up on my desktop. I can drag things out on to the desktop and they will show up. i recently installed Windows 7 on a Dell Vostro 1310 Laptop. Everything is running very smooth, no problems whatsover but one, which i just cant figure out!
WLAN was working like a charm. Could connect and use the internet without a problem. Yesterday i took my laptop to my gf's, and tried to connect to her router, but the list of available networks just wont show that one. It shows like ten other networks, but the one i need is not displayed.
With another Laptop (Vista) i could connect without a problem and good connection, so could i with my HTC Touch.
I tried manually setting up a connection to that particular network but it didnt help either.
Is that a common problem, or does anybody can help me in any way? Im really out of ideas.
