I was playing rFactor last night and all of a sudden, the screen just went crazy. Almost like your trying to watch TV with rabbit ears. The screen is all garbled, almost like it has been mirrored 6 times across the screen. I am in the process of saving stuff over(takes forever trying to read it) and am going to try a complete system reinstall.
I know from searches on here that this laptop is pretty much obsolete when it comes to finding drivers for some aspects of Win 7, but I've also found some who seem to have got it running well on it, so hoping this isn't maybe a driver problem but something else that maybe can be easily fixed.
Basically Windows 7 installed without any problems but is running in a box centred in the middle of the screen - I tried to improve it by changing up the screen res, but while that did bump it up a bit it's still well shy of the screen edges i.e. 1 inch of black all around it. Is this thus another driver issue do you reckon or does anyone know of any other way to increase the res, as I can't find anyone else with this particular problem in searches here or elsewhere (unless I'm not searching with the right terms).
Already have it installed on my desktop so the laptop was really just for backup of sorts and not the end of the world if it won't work properly, but be nice to know for sure.
My Girl recently got a Dell Inspiron N5040, when we first turned it on, after a few mins it randomly restarted, i thought maybe its just an update (had to install loads of windows updates) however, over the past week, its being doing it every time its been turned off for a few hours... however once it restarts and comes back on, it usually is fine, It's only when leaving it a long while then turning it back on, it does the same again, and today for the first time we got a blue screen of death, which i believe may lead to some answers, here is the report:
Problem signature: Problem Event Name:BlueScreen OS Version:6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3 Locale ID:2057
I've tried F8, F2, and F12 to get to safe mode or startup options but all I ever get is the option to either start normally or launch repair. The function keys appear to do nothing. Launch normally doesn't work and just cycles me back to the two options again. Repairing just keeps "repairing" with nothing ever happening indefinitely. It will ask in the beginning if I want to restore to a different time, and if I click yes, nothing happens except that it keeps "repairing". There's nothing important on the hard drive that needs to be saved. I want to reformat, but I didn't get any disks with the computer, since it said I could use Dell Restore on my desktop, which of course I can't access now. Is there any free, safe program I can use to boot it up and restore? And can I even use a disk to restore if I can't access the advanced boot options to change it to "boot from disk"?
I have tried F8 for the advanced boot option, but the screen I get does not offer advanced boot as an option. I get a screen with six line that all have vista in them and am unable to do anything in that screen. It will not boot when b or enter keys are hit it won't do anything when I try select enter the command line and I am unable to exit this screen using esc button, I have to manually turn off computer. How do I find the advanced boot screen for dell inspiron E1505 with windows 7 professional?
My dell inspiron 537 decided to completely stop working it has a blank screen with a blinking cursor in the left corner Alls I wanna do is get into the start up menu only options I get are f2 and f12 which are useless.
Running a Dell Inspiron Zino HD. Constantly crashes, get either a blue screen, black screen or stripes. Usually says something about a crash dump but goes blank before I can read.

So I bought a new desktop computer about 2 weeks ago and ever since I got it, it's been freezing (locking) up on me at random times. I currently use Windows 7 64-bit. I put in a new graphics card and new memory sticks just the other day and I got the same freezing problem. It's very random. I can be surfing the web and the next thing you know, the whole thing freezes up. I can't move the mouse. Can't do CTRL ALT DEL. Can't do anything. Seems as if the whole computer locks up. The only way to restart the computer is by manually holding in the power button for a few seconds. So since I replaced graphics card and installed new memory, I was thinking it may be something else causing this.
I'm gonna order a Dell Inspiron 15 this Monday, Are these specs ok?
Ok it has 4gb of ram ddr2, it has an intel pentium dual core processor, Integrated Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator X4500HD Graphics Card. And also I'm choosing vista home premium 64bit will it run fine?
I went to the dell site and checked if I could load windows 7 on the Inspiron 1505 and could not find that I could. Can I load windows 7 on the Inspiron 1505?
I've had my laptop Dell INSPIRON N5030 for about a year.It was working fine up till now but when I boot it up it gives me a windows recovery error. It says: windows failed to start. a recent hardware or software might be the cause. When I choose the launch start repair, it just gives me the windows screen with the mouse and nothing happens. Then if i choose load windows normally, it will just go to the loading screen then it'll stay there for a while then go back to the windows recovery error.I've also tryed to reboot the hard drive by pressing F12, but it won't let me it just puts me back on to the windows recovery error screen.
I bought a new dell laptop of model inspiron n5010. It works with Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit OS. I installed all the other drivers and softwares. I cannot find a way to work the Wifi. I tried to install the wifi driver R252283 from dell official site, but when i'm installing it i got an error message"The software you are attempting to install is not supported on this system. The software will not be installed."
I have a Dell Inspiron 1440 running windows 7. This computer was purchased new about a year and a half ago, and I have had no problems up until a couple days ago. I went to turn my laptop on the other morning and as usual the dell logo came up and loaded, then the windows symbol saying "starting windows"... then strangely a black screen with a cursor arrow... nothing more, no log in screen... just black nothingness... I have ran the diognostics and they all say "pass". I am able to access F2 & F12 but it will not boot in safe mode or with a command prompt.
I have a Dell Inspiron 700m. I can't find a video (graphic) driver for it. I went to Dell support website but can't find the right driver. I understand Dell doesn't support this model for Vista or Windows 7. I even google for the driver. Quite a few people have the same problem. Do you happen to know a driver to take its place? I went to Device Manager and it shows that I'm missing the Video Controller.
