Computer Turns Off During Games (hardware Not Faulty)?
Nov 21, 2011
I thought this was a problem only when I had my monitor switched to 120hz because it turned off alot back when I had it on, so I had been playing with 60hz for a while and tried my luck turning it back to 120hz, worked for a few days but now it seems it cant handle it, even in 60hz. It's a newly built PC!I have checked graphics card with Furmark and no problems there, ran memtest overnight, passed tests. I cant upload any minidump files because it is empty. I've reseating heatsink[CODE]
i am able to turn my computer on for a few seconds but then it automatically shuts itself off after a few seconds but the thing is after letting it sit for a couple seconds it says something about how the clocks on my processor have been overclocked too high and asks if it wants me to restore them, so i do that and then the computer works fine, but then when i turn it off and turn it back on it does the exact same thing until i get that message again.i've tried manually reducing the clocks on my cpu even though they were already at stock clocks and that didnt work
system specs:
windows 7 ultimate 64bit intel core 2 quad q6600 @ 2.4ghz standard clocks 4gb ddr2-800 ram ati hd 4760 1gb ddr3
I recently had to purchase a brand new motherboard because my last one died on me and now I am having a strange problem. I can not seem to play any video games without the sound from the game turning off and pausing any music I happen to be listening to. I can turn back on the Music by skipping ahead in the song track but the game sound stays off until it resolves itself after a few minutes.
I have this problem where my screen will turn black or turn off after a short while of playing games. I installed Windows 7 recently and then installed Borderlands and COD4. Both games run fine at lowest settings but after about 15-20 minutes of playing, my screen would just turn off and I'd have to switch the laptop off using the power button to reboot.
I'm not sure if this is a Windows 7 problem, graphic card issue, or heat related issue since my notebook fan is not working and i'm using a notebook cooler.
My first guess was that since we have an electrical instability in our home, perhaps the uneven flows of power would sometimes send a false signal to the power unit of the computer and trigger a start-up (quite often the lights in our home will briefly, and sometimes violently, wave up and down, especially at night).
so basically most nights when i go to bed i will put my computer on sleep, but recently my computer has been turning itself on during the night, i checked task scheduler and there is nothing there that would trigger this, although i tried the powercfg lastwake command in command prompt and got this
i hav this friend of mine whose computer turns off itself few seconds later after turning it on,it has been running perfectly before this, until he installed another 1GB DDR2 ram..i cant figure out what the problem is.
i have installed 2 case fans to have to air flow. and when i booted the pc couple of mins later, it suddenly turns off. i unplug both of the case fans and did the same thing.
I have just finshed building my computer and when I turn it on nothing displays on the monitor ! The case fans are running but theres no display. Also I noticed that when I turned it on the CPU fan would spin for a while then stop spin then spin again. I have tried to unplug the CPU fan and replug it back in and it still happens. Is it because of a faulty Mobo?
Okay, so a while ago I finished building my new Pc. It was working fine for about 3 days but then it would randomly go black and show the message, "Please select a proper boot device and press a key". Prior to this I had accidently been turning off the power to my computer (it was in a weird position, so when i stretched i would kick the cable). Could having turn off the power caused this? I only did this twiceI also tried connecting it to different sata ports and nothing
I am having a problem with a new installation of Windows 7 Home Premium. I have always liked the Hibernate feature and used it extensively when I was running Windows Vista Ultimate. Since installing Windows 7, whenever I run Hibernate the computer turns back on. When I used Hibernate in Windows Vista Ultimate I knew that the programs that I left open would be where I left off when I restarted the computer from Hibernate. Now, it just seems to turn on when it wants to. I am sure it is a setting in the Power Settings category in Control Panel. I'm just not sure how to set.
Like it says on my title. I put my computer into sleep mode when i am stepping away from my computer. It succesfully goes into sleep mode then i come back and it is on wanting a password. So i sit there wondering if i turned it off or not Well i watched a few days later cause the problem still hasent stoped and i watched it go into sleep mode then a few minutes later turnes back on
Turns out all my problems were an aged battery, according to the tech shop who reinstalled windows after some deeprooted viruses. But now my laptop won't shut down all the way, but the screen turns off. The keyboard's LEDs stay on, and the fan keeps blowing. It stayed that way for at least five minutes, between me getting a snack and coming back. I don't know if they reinstalled from the disc that shipped with the laptop or gave me a knew windows 7, but this particular issue only started when they reinstalled the OS.
I'm having some problems with my computer shutting down randomly. No BSOD. I just reset the BIOS and removed a single GPU, so I am no longer in SLI mode.
As the title says, if I turn my computer off, wait for every hard drive to stop spinning, then turn my subwoofer off at the switch on the back (not stand by mode) it will turn the computer back on again...I thought it was some kind of WOL or something, but i've turned all that off and it still keeps waking it up
When I turn my computer on nothing happens. The power light comes on and I hear ONLY the fans turning. Nothing happens on the screen, it just stays black. It does say NO VGA signal.
I have this problem with a Packard Bell Desktop computer, It randomly crashes when doing startup, I dont know if its the motherboard, or the HDD. But it crashes after 4-5 min of driving, it starts up at BIOS Screen, with 3 beeps and then it goes to windows startup restore, and it cant startup windows either. So im trying at the moment to format the computer, but it gets the the "Windows Is Loading Files" At the second part of it, it gets half way in the loading, and it random turns off, and it keeps happending all the time, I dont know if its the HDD, or any Hardware Problem in the BIOS, or GPU
When the the computer turns do not see the POST process and the windows loading processOnly when the system up then seeing the Desktop After a short time.A similar process happens when doing Switch User while the screens have a black screen until it shows in this process.
My Computer turns of randomly when i play a game called Alliance of Valiant Arms. It will just turn off at a random time. It never use to do this but now it does it alot... My computer has o viruses or spyware or anything. All clean.
Just got myself this (old) new computer, that I was going to use for a media center. But it randomly crashes, and i can't seem to figure out why. I formated it yesterday, so I doubt it would be a virus.Sometimes it goes black, and picture returns within a few seconds, but other times it freezes up completely. When I restart it (with the power button) I cant get pasted the BIOS screen, but if I unplug the power supply, and hit the power button a few times and then plug in the power, it starts up like normal. (does that make it a RAM issue?)Freezes have happened doing the following: Using XBMC (both in menus and while watching a video), while Internet Download Manager was running. While file transfer was running, and a few times while i wasnt at the computer.Specs:Windows 7 Ultimate x64ATI Radeon HD 5670Intel Core i3 CPU6GB RAMPhillips TV (Connected with HDMI)
My computer will randomly turn off. Only if I am using it. I can turn it on and it will sit forever, but if I use it.Shuts completely off with no warning, no error, nothing. I need to power it back on by pressing the power button. I went to CMOS and turned on restart on system failure and it does not restart. Don't think it's running hot.. at least, my gcard is only doing 48 C which is low. Idk if it's a software issue or hardware?I ran a scan of my computer using ESET NOD32 Smart Security = nothing found.
Few days ago my rig started acting up when I shut it down after the normal few seconds the display turns off but the computer itself will not shut off. I have run antispyware in safe mode as well as in normal mode also the same with the antivirus too. Even done a system restore back before it started acting up but nothing.
my Toshiba laptop screen stays black, my laptop turns on but the screen stays black, I have tried many steps and none has proved, I wonder if it has to do with a cable or is the screen that needs to be replaced.
I was playing around with Task Scheduler to turn on laptop at specific time, it works great. However, while the system starts up just fine, the screen remains black until I touch the mousepad. Now that doesn't seem like a big deal, but what I was experimenting with is having the computer turn on so I could use TeamViewer app on my phone to access my desktop when I'm not home. Problem is, TeamViewer won't access desktop if screen is black and if I am not physically present, I can't tap the mousepad
I have an MSI a6205 laptop, and have recently reformatted my computer to reset everything in it. My problem is this: Ever since I re-installed Windows 7 my computer has been starting up, getting to the little 'Starting Windows' animation, then the screen turns off completely, with no back light (the fans and LEDs still function perfectly). The way I have been getting it to work is by turning it on, waiting for the screen to turn off, then tapping the power button and putting it to sleep, after a few seconds I hit the power button again to awake it, and the screen turns on and functions perfectly.
I know this isn't a hardware issue, because I also have Ubuntu 12.04 installed on the machine, and it works perfectly. It's just Windows 7 that is giving me this problem.
