So I had this happen a few times, and more recently every day I recently reinstalled windows 7 x64 to clean everything up, but unfortunately the problem persists. After a certain amount of time, whatever window I am on becomes unresponsive. Following that if I try to use other windows, they too become unresponsive. task manager won't come up during this time, the computer is just 1 window/application at a time locking up to the point where I can do nothing except power it down by holding the power button and restartingIt is also very slow starting up and seems to be slow at times during use. Sometimes when I start it up or when I am doing something at the same time (like deleting files for instance)I have 12 gb of RAM and when I am monitoring the performance the computer hardly goes about 20% usage and still seems slow.I wasn't sure if it was a RAM problem or if it was even hardware at all, could it be software?
u have a problem with my built computer. My computer keep freezing up at random spot, most of the time at the startup. I can boot into safe mode and the recovery CD sometime if it doesn't freezes up half way. Sometime the computer would work fine for a day and next day it just go berserk.

Once in a while I find that the time zone moves from GMT to Pacific Time.Has anyone any idea what would cause this, new CMOS battery fitted, which ever time zone shows the time is correct for that zone. Checked the BIOS and that also changes.I dual boot two Win 7 installations.
My computer has been acting up of late. It's been freezing up at random times (even if I am running nothing). Trying to open up Task Manager, I don't see anything that could be using the CPU, but yet it says that i'm running at 100% capacity. MalwareBytes isn't picking up anything. Neither is Avast. Also, when I try to run anything Microsoft Office related I usually end up with a lot of lag. I'm not sure if these two are related, but I just thought I'd mention it.
I started having a problem with my Toshiba Satellite laptop yesterday. Whenever I open a program such as firefox or chrome to browse the internet, it seems that certain parts on the computer screen such as the start menu bar on the bottom will stop responding completely. There are points where I cannot even minimize Firefox because the button on the top right doesn't respond yet I can open new tabs/etc. I usually have to ctrl alt delete and get to the task manager to reset everything, but about a minute later I will be able to go on the internet but not be able to open or even highlight shortcuts on my desktop. I thought it was the mouse/touchpad but I updated drivers and it doesn't seem like that is the problem. It is like one program on the computer will be fine while the others just go dead.
The past few days my computer has been locking up, always when playing a video game, and I am forced to press the restart button. When I log back in, I receive no error message from the action center or anything. When I check the windows event viewer I see the messages that says "The previous system shutdown at 11:24:39 AM on 10/6/2011 was unexpected." and "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly." but none that actually tell me why it crashed or stopped responding.

I need a way to lock my computer without affecting any programs. I have programs running that access the mouse and keyboard functions. When I lock my computer, it disables the desktop access to these and breaks the programs. Is there any way to get around this in windows or maybe a program that will allow me to lock my computer without leaving the desktop?
Computer has been running really slow lately. I did all the maintenance I knew how to do and removed programs they weren't using. It's better, but still slow. Their computer originally came with Windows Vista and I upgraded it to Windows 7 a year ago.
shortly after installing Win7 Ultimate, my computer started crash-dumping and locking-up with BSOD's, ran OCCT and all is well, Prime 95 runs and after an hour it stops the error is
FATAL ERROR Roundin was 0.5 expected less than 0.4
Hardware failure detected consult stress.txt file, so I checked it and all it said was there is a problem somewhere, OK so I was looking in the Windows debug file and I see the WIA file, so I am looking and it says

My PC is only just a year old, and I've never had any problems with it before this. I was playing Skyrim, noticed it was flickering a bit which is unusual as I specifically set my desktop up to be a gaming set-up. I alt-tabbed to see if any processes were hogging resources, and saw that my bamboo tablet was taking a fair amount. I stopped the processes and unplugged the tablet from the USB drive only to find myself staring at a BSOD.Upon doing a system resource (safe mode wouldn't work), I then found that my drivers for my Razer BlackWidow no longer worked, and upon re-installing, still didn't work. I switched to my old bog-standard USB keyboard.Since then, I've had several BSOD's happen at random. Browsing the web on Chrome, doing University work on Photoshop, even when my PC is idle.I don't want to have to replace parts just yet, so hopefully this is a software/BIOS issue. I've included the 4 dump files separately, as browser wouldn't let me select a whole .zip file.
Its a new build only two months old all new hardware. Asrock z68 extreme4 board, i7 2600K processor, 16GB Corsair RAM, BeQuiet 750W PSU, GTX 580 graphics, Windows 7 enterprise 64bit. Initially I thought the crashes were heat related but monitoring the board shows cool temps. I am not overclocking either.
I dont know if this is the right area or not, as i just joined, but it seems to be the best place. I recently bought a new computer, and now it will randomly shut down. Its also making loud pitch noises. That just started happening. I called tech support and they told me it was probably just the power supply. Before I send it in though, i want to make sure that is what is wrong. I dont know all to put on here.
My D 200gb SATA hard drive disappears around 1-90 mins while on windows 7. I have tried registry repairs and alot of things. Its not faulty cables because i used to have win Xp on exact same computer but reformatted to windows 7. Rebooting makes the hard drive reappear but it still disappears after a while. It still shows up in the bios though. When it disappears, it is completely gone, even in device manager.
my important data is on my 200gb D drive and i only use C for my os and some other things like Firefox because its only 80gb
recently i have been having trouble with my computer. so i will be looking at Internet videos or playing a game or something and my computer will stop all services and will freeze up and just hang up and sit there forever and i cant do anything so i end up having to hard reboot my computer

i did a search through the forums to see if anyone else has had this issue but i could not find the exact problem. before i go into details, here are the system specs. please note nothing has been over clocked.

i started this build in december and the hang has been happening more and more frequently. when playing a game, bf3, in my case, everything works perfectly, cpu and gpu stays cool, i have the windows widgets and a readout on my keyboard that uses core temp to see live temps. however, just watching a video on Internet or browsing a site, or just listening to music, the system will freeze with the latest image on the screen and if sound was on, a .05 loop of the sound will keep playing. this happens at random times, nothing predictable, and i cannot replicate it. i cannot alt-tab, or ctrl-alt-delete out of it. both keyboard and mouse go dead and the only way to break the freeze is to hit the reset or power button. on some occasions i will get a bsod, but i think it has only happened 2-3 times, where as the hang has occurred at least 20+ times in the last month and a half.
here are some of the things i have tried.
-ran memtest86 for 14 hours: no errors -disabled on board audio in the bios -uninstalled realtek drivers -updated video card, and sound card drivers -ran atitool scan for artifacts for 8 hours: none found -ran prime95 for 4 hours: stayed below 55c no errors. -ran chkdsk -messed with my power plans -enabled and disabled fast boot in the bios -ran full system scans with avast, ms security essentials, superantispyware, and malwarebytes: nothing found but tracking cookies i have done more but i cannot remember right now, will post when it comes back to me.
my next step is trying a new power supply, the 750w may not have enough juice, but i do not have one to test with currently. i am eying the 1200w x-series from seasonic but i want to make sure it is not something else before i plunk more money down. i am willing to try any suggestions.
edit: forgot to add that this build originally started with a 96gb ssd which i had win7 loaded on. i felt it was too small so i upgraded to the larger one. however when i had the smaller ssd installed the same symptoms were present.
I have a computer running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1. It has run well for about a year, but recently has been freezing up randomly. Intel Core i7 2.67 GHz, 8 Gig of RAM. 1 TB disk with 807 GB free. I have made sure that all drivers are up to date.I have removed all external equipment except for mouse, keyboard and Network cable and still get random freezes. Sometimes every two or three days, sometimes multiple times a day. I've run AVG anti-virus, Malwarebytes,
here is my problem it seems when ever i try and do anything memory intensive on the computer it blue screens and says that it is a "memory management" issue I've tried restoring to an earlier point this does not work. It had been having problems before this shutting down but they were not this bad. I can't play games or anything like i said memory intense.
I have bought this computer its custom build it has been with me for almost 4 months now and I can't use its always shutting down (BSOD). I changed my graphics card just to be sure bu still the same problem.
Computer specs:
Windows 7 Ultimate x64bit Intel Core i7 3.0Ghz Ram 4GB ATI Radeon HD5450
I have tried to format my computer I gave to my friend to be honest he did it for me but the same issue still happens.
I recently all but completely rebuilt my computer with a new PSU, motherboard, CPU, Case and RAM, and all was well with the world for about two months. Then just within the last week or so this has cropped up.
I'm running into an issue where my computer restarts at random. When it happens the screen will go black and then the computer will reboot and load normally. This happens both when at load, for instance running a resource intensive game, or when just watching netflix or browsing the internet. The restarts are very intermittent and can go for days without happening or will happen back to back.
I've run prime95 for over an hour with no issues, so I don't think it's the CPU. I've run furmark and kombuster tests, and there have been no issues. Neither the CPU or the GPU are anywhere near overheating at load, the CPU is at roughly 55C and the GPU around 68 to 70C during the tests rather steadily. I've also run Memtest86+ for over two hours with no errors, and run checks on both of my hard drives just for good measure to no avail. There were no errors there either. The problem has persisted through a fresh install of windows on a freshly partitioned hard drive, so it does seem likely to be hardware, and not software.

I built my computer around 2 years ago and it worked great up untill I left for Afghanistan. On my return from Afghanistan though It has been freezing ALL the time. The first time I went to boot it up actually I wouldn't even turn on at all. It would light up and think for a good 10 seconds and then just turn off and then turn itself on and repeat all by itself.I opened it up and gave it a good cleaning and this seemed to work. I was able to get on and carry on as usual. But now since then its slowly started freezing randomly. Some days it seems fine and some days I cant get past start-up. It will just freeze at the loading windows screen. Now currently I cant turn it on and I am having my original problem. I was able to get to the start-up repair and tried running some tests but for the most part the repair wizard was useless.
Ok, about a week and a half ago I moved our Wndows 7 RC 7100 media center pc to a new box (Thermaltake DH 102). Well, after a reinstall of Windows 7 RC 7100, I found that the 7in touch screen just wasn't working with 7, so I kicked myself in the ass and reverted to Vista, wich worked flawlessly.
Then, about 4 days ago, I downloaded Wndows 7 (7264), installed, and to my enjoyment, along with my wifes, it to worked flawlessly.
Then she asked me to install our printer, a 4550 Lexmark WiFi enabled printer. Thats when it went down hill. After installing the printer, making sure everything worked right with the wireless, wich it did, I restarted and thought I was in a nightmare . . . I got this message
Startng Your Computer For The First Time
When the desktop reappeared, everything seemed fine, but no printer.
No printer, but everything else is fine. I've downloaded the latest drivers from lexmark, tried compatibilty mode, and it all ends with the same result . . .
I was looking into how to make this happen and I am running into some problems. What I want to do is basically run my main OS on the first screen and maximize vmware with my other windows 7 os on the second screen.I have two sets of keyboards and two sets of mice, windows 7 is ready to roll on both my computer and my vmware, I just need to find a way to isolate the keyboard commands to just the vmware on the one set, and just my machine on my OS.From what I've looked up, this can be done. I have a decent amount of knowledge in vmware and computers, but I was hoping someone here could fill me in if they knew how to do this, because the only "walkthrough" I could find is for vmware 6.5 and vista, and I don't think it applies to what I'm doing on version 7.1. I need to be able to have two users on my computer at the same time, at my disposal.
[code] My computer is unstable and BSODs at random, with error messages such as 'MEMORY_MANAGEMENT' and 'IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL'. I posted my problem on another forum (SevenForums) and had someone helping me but they seem to have dissapeared and my problem has not. url...If you don't mind please read up until page 2 as that is my latest errors (posted today). If you would rather me post my problem here direct I will. If you can see the attachments to my posts the dumps are also on that website, but once again I will post everything here if requested. I just see linking you to things I've already tried the best option rather than me try to explain everything again .
It has been going on for a while now, I have tried everything I can think of to no avail.I get Blue Screens out of the blue from anywhere, i can be idle to playing a game to the computer just getting into windows. On the link above I've tried many things, inluding memtest, driver verifyer, chkdisk, uninstalling norton (he said that could be the problem), system repair, a complete re-install of windows 7, updating all my drivers. To most recently cutting back to 4GB ram and making the timings and voltages to the correct setting instead of being on 'auto' in my bios, and it still BSODing. I have also ran 'prime95' on a blend test, and had errors on core #4:
for the last few days my computer has started to hang at random times. It could be 1 min or 15 min after start up and does not look to be linked to any 1 program. when it happens the computer will slow down for a min then I just get the round circle icon and nothing works, I cant even do Ctr Alt Del. I have done AVG scan and Superantispyware and all was fine apart from tracking cookies. I have also taken most unused programs out of MSCONFIG startup and still no luck.I will try and run the SysInfo tool and Hijackthis on the computwer now and post the results (Im using a different computer to post this)When it starts to slow Task manager, if i have it open in time, shows nothing strange cpu between 0% and 20%
