Jan 8, 2012one of my co-workers wants me to get rid of some viruses and install office 2010 home and student on her computer with the key she bought. her computer runs windows 7 64-bit. after backing up her data, i finally ended up doing a factory reinstall from the backup partition. so i downloaded all windows updates and installed antivirus and firewall software. then i downloaded the office 2010 trial and tried to install it. it seems to begin installing without any problems. then a splash screen for powerpoint appears. it says that its "processing" and does that for about 20 minutes and then there is a balloon that pops up saying that office is downloading files. after all that happens, an error message appears that says something like "powerpoint cannot be opened. please try again later or repair this software in the control panel" with no sort of error code. i then tried repairing it from control panel which claims to complete successfully. so i restart and try to install again and the same thing happens all over again. if i try opening word, excel, powerpoint or onenote the splash screen appears and does the same thing that i described powerpoint was doing. ive tried uninstalling and reinstalling to no avail. i also tried installing the 60 day trial for office 2007 that came preloaded with the computer and then installing office 2010 over it. same thing happened.

Oct 11, 2009I'm trying to uninstall a program (GTA4/Grand Theft Auto game), but the setup for this game does not work on Windows 7.
To make the setup work we need to edit the compatibility for it.
It's the same problem to install the game, the same error "incompatible with %P". The solution to install it's the compatibility mode.
But I don't know how to change the compatibility to the uninstall setup. The setup.exe, I don't know where it is, when I click to uninstall the system always generate a setup.exe on a temp folder like:
C:UsersSauloBAppDataLocalTemp{E5FDAAC7-1D94-43B7-BB89-F0762501AD15}setup.exe
The {strings} always change. So I cannot edit the setup to open on compatibility mode.
Does anyone know how to change the compatibility for setups on the uninstall list?
Btw, there's no uninstall shortcut on the game start menu

I performed a backup and was able to get 64 bit installed and working properly, however I can't find my backup of MS Office 2010.I've looked through my backup and also Windows old file and can't seem to find it. Will I have to reinstall Office from the disk?

im trying to install intellitype drivers 6.20 since anything more recent blocks hotkeys through winamp for my keyboard model. and yes these drivers worked "PERFECTLY" fine despite microsoft being dumb about this probably trying to force people to use there newer drivers.
so in short anyone know how to fully disable the compatability assistant which is completly blockign the install of this driver. i suppose i cna install through INFs but that wont install the software part of the driver i believe which enables the few media keys which i enjoy using while in full screen apps.

When I go to install it gets to the Compatibility part of the install, put up a blank box with the message that the info has been saved to my desktop. The only button to click is close. If i do that 7 starts over. The info saved on my desktop it blank also. Nothing. I also can't run the windows 7 Compatibility advisor from Microsoft when you download it. Any ideas??

Nov 20, 2009I have two computers that are running Win XP Home and one that is running Win Xp Media Center Edition. Will I have any problems upgrading the Win Xp Media Center Edition?
Currently I'm trying to upgrade the system with Win Xp Home. It has a Gigabyte AMD AM2 Socket (GA-M57 SLI-S4) motherboard, AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 6000+, 4 GB of ram and a Creative SB Audigy 2 ZS sound-card.
I ran the windows 7 upgrade adviser on the computer and then someone suggest I also run the vista upgrade adviser as well. On both it is telling me that there is a problem with "Windows Aero Support". I've seen lots of posts stating it will run on their video card but I have not seen anything on mine and need to know if I can upgrade to Win 7 Home Premium without a problem. My video card is a NVidia Geforce 7900 GTX. Does anyone know if that card will work with Win 7?
Then also it is telling me that my D-Link DWA-130 Wireless USB adapter is a problem. I went to their website and they have Vista drivers but not Win 7. Someone suggested not downloading the D-Link drivers but downloading the vista drivers and that it would work. I have little knowledge regarding Win 7 and therefore didn't know if this was good advice or bad advice on downloading the vista drivers. Is anyone here using this wireless adapter successfully with Win 7?
Last it mentions that it is not compatible with the Creative Game Port. I don't know if this is something that is downloaded with my Gigaabyte motherboard recovery disc. I don't think it was something I installed but not sure. AS far as I know it is not something I'm using so it doesn't matter if it isn't compatible (at least I think it's not). I didn't know if anyone knew about this.
I'm hoping anyone that has experience with any of this hardware will let me know if it is compatible with Win 7 before I upgrade it only to find it is compatible to upgrade.

Oct 7, 2011I had Office 2007 running fine on my Win 7 x64 machine, don't ask me why I decided to waste my time to uninstall it and try to install Office 2010... Get the error 1935 bla bla.... for about 20 trials to install.
Tried all the rounds suggested: .NET repair, system restore now no longer complete (no change to system), no matter which restore point I choose..., disble Anti-virus (Kaspersky), try to install in Safe mode, I probably forget half of the list I have tried... Always same result. Worse: I get the same thing if I try simply to reinstall Office 2007!
I get that (no details needed - I see this had been a classic for at least 5 years now with no effective solution but to reinstall Win 7 or Repair - even though I have read the latest sometimes did not even worked). Both are out of my options: this machine run much more important programs/projects (recording studio, video editing) for fooling around with reinstalling. Plus, I have a OEM install and paid for online purchase of upgrade to Win 7 Pro. So even repair in these conditions is not possible from what I read.
I have not read anything new written since early 2010 on this topic, is there anything new to solve it? It appears MS have not been able to solve this for 6 years, and 3 versions ! I had same problem last year with Expression Web 2 and 4, finally been able to solve with 4 after a system restore. I was hoping to do the same here.
I'm now left with the unpractical option of doing all my Office work on my laptop. Funny enough: I have a Mac version of Office 2011 on a Mac and it run soooo smoothly. Even more funny: I *only* have this install problem with MS products, no other *non-MS* programs!..

Nov 20, 2009A friend asked me to setup her new Windows 7 Home Premium machine and her old Dell Dimension 4700 with windows xp. She bought a Belkin FLIP USB with audio to accomplish this somewhat, however the windows 7 pc seems to be causing issues as far as i can tell. At random times the keyboard will not switch during a flip but you can flip again and it corrects.
It also would sometimes get the KB/mouse on one computer and the monitor on the other, which was not fixable by her. The only solution being to fully unplug the KVM and let it power down for a few seconds and then rehook it up to the running PCs. She's not really prepared to do that for a KVM that should be simple.
Belkin's website does not claim compatibility with Windows 7 or 64bit, so can anyone recommend a KVM that has "fully" compatible drivers for Windows 7 64bit? The belkin flip will generally work with a little troubleshooting despite it not being supported on win7 64, but she doesn't want to do "any troubleshooting" and just wants it to work all the time.
