View 1 Replies View RelatedI have Office 2007 Home & Student Edition.I use Windows Live Mail for my email client.I installed the office product, and created a new Word Document.I click on the Office Button on top, select SEND TO EMAIL.. expecting Windows Live Mail to show up (set as my default mail program.) Instead I get this error: Logon Failed. You Must log on to Microsoft Exchange to Access your address book. Error Code: "unspecified Error".So I figure, Ok, maybe Office 2007 is new (even thought it's 2010 now), and there might be some fixes.I downloaded the SP2 for Office 2007, thinking this must be a common problem.. as my computer is BRAND new.I JUST installed Windows Live Mail on it... and Just installed Office 2007. I haven't had it for more than a few hours.I install the SP2 Patch for OFF2007 fine. I do some searching and find many Microsoft threads which indicate how to "use a Non-MS Email client with Office 2007" - Now wait! Isn't Windows Live Mail an MS product? So then, I find many other forums where they indicate you can click SEND TO EMAIL 3 times and it will work. So... Just to confirm the mind of the hive is alive and well.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI found out that if a file has an extra dot before the extension, e.g. book1..xls (or book1. if you have "hide known file extensions" enabled in Folder Options), then the following will occur. If you right click the file, click Send to, click Mail Recipient, a new mail window opens up with the attachment of the file RENAMED TO book1._xls. I.e. the extra dot is replaced with an underscoreAlso, the funny thing is if there are additional dots before the extension, only the 2nd, 4th, 6th, etc. dots will be replaced with underscores. That means if the dot JUST BEFORE the extension is in an even-number position (counting from left to right), it will be replaced with "_", making the file extension looking like "_xls" and thus the attachment will be unopenable by your recipient unless he or she manually deletes the undercore from the extension.E.g. book1...xls will become book1._.xls; file name changed but still openable. But book1....xls will become book1._._xls; file becomes unopenable. This does not happen in Outlook Express. It seems to only happen with Windows Live Mail

I did the SP1 update on the weekend. I don't know if this is why this has happened but Windows live Mail, when opened, is now empty. All of my emails, settings, contacts and accounts are gone. I can see all the folders when I look under C:Users... but I don't know how to restore all of it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have set up my wife's email account (TWC Roadrunner address) with Live Mail on our new Win 7 32-bit machine. It is receiving mail fine, but will not send. The attempted sent messages do not appear in the sent or outbox folders, but when I close the program I am asked if I want to send the unsent items. When I click on yes I get the following error message.
"An unknown error has occurred."

My installation of Windows Live Mail automatically checks for and retrieves email even though I have set it NOT to do that.
In Tools - Options - General I unchecked "Send and receive messages at startup" and "Check for new messages every [time is grayed out]" Yet the program still automatically checks for email and downloads it.
I have my Hotmail account set up, and I could sort of see that account automatically retrieveing mail, but I also have other accounts set up through my ISP and through my own domain, and these are also being automatically checked even though I have cleared the checkboxes described above.
I have closed the program and rebooted since unchecking those boxes (this has been going on for an extended time, several weeks at least). Am I missing some option somewhere, or is this just broken? I can't imagine it's the intended behavior. I'm running Windows 7 x64, Windows Live Mail Version 2009 (Build 14.0.8089.0726).
Installed Windows 7 Service Pack 1 yesterday. Today, Windows Live Mail is asking for my username and password for my Comcast mail account. The name & password provided are correct. When I OK, the box just keeps reappearing. When I cancel, error message states a wrong password was provided. I am using Firefox as my browser. When I try to open my Comcast mail from the Comcast site, it times out. I AM able to send emails from Live Mail...
