Cannot open a PPS file using Power Point 2007
I get the following error message
The presentation cannot be opened. Your antivirus program may prevent you from opening the presentation. To fix this problem, make sure your antivirus program is current and working correctly. If the problem persists and the presentation is from someone that you trust, turn off your antivirus program, and then try to open the presentation again. If you do this, make sure you turn on your antivirus program again after you open the presentation.

I will occasionally get a power point attachment and cannot open it. I have my associations set to Microsoft's Power Point software. I have also tried changing the association to Open Office's Impress and this doesn't work as well.

I mistakenly associated Windows Media Player with opening an email with a Power Point attachment. When I try to open the attachment, I'm told WMP can't open it. I have Power Point Viewer (which can open the attachment), installed but I can't find a way to delete the WMP association. The .eml file type (email) is being opened by Thunderbird, my email client.

I have Office 2002 on Win 7 Pro - 64 bit.A friend gave me his short story to read. It was a docx. I double-clicked it. (I thought I had already put on a limited-purpose reader, but that was at work and for Win XP) Something installed too fast for me to make out what it was - I thought it was a compatibility pack, but when I tried to work on a Power Point project this morning it came up in Power Point 2007 READ ONLY.How do I get my Power Point 2002 back?

I've installed my copy of Office XP (which works perfectly well for my purposes and I don't need any new features of later versions!), and Powerpoint 2002 runs very slowly re-drawing the screen. After selecting a "Slide design" from the view menu, it takes a two or three seconds to redraw the background if I switch between slides, type some text in a text box over the background, resize the window etc. (No delays when switching slides during a slide show though.)It works very fast on my old laptop running XP. My Windows 7 desktop computer is a Core Duo E7400 with a GTX260 graphics card (latest drivers installed) so should be about 10x faster than the laptop!

I am using the x64 version. I am having the problem that Power Point Viewer doesn't work. I don't want to buy or install Microsoft Office 2010 only for the Power Point Viewer because I really don't like it, don't use it and it takes huge space in my hard disk.Same about Open Office. I have been using the small application of Microsoft to run the power points. Just the viewer. Is anyone with x64 running the power point viewer? Does anyone know of a small sized alternative?

I have a Dell V313w printer and using PowerPoint (office 2010), when I select "Print on both sides" it prints out on one side. I am unable to figure out why it does this. Any advice would help so that I don't have to print out 20 pages a week for lecture notes for a class.

I have a small network of six computers. Five of them run XP and I just added a Windows 7 machine. I've got a Microsoft Access 2003 database that all of the computers share that is hosted on one of the XP machines. The Windows 7 machine can access the Access database through the network just fine, as long as no one else is accessing it. However, if someone else on an XP machine on the network is using the file, it won't open on the Windows 7 machine. Doubling clicking the file on Windows 7 gives me the circling blue icon for a second or two, then nothing happens. If the XP user exits the database, then I can open it fine.

Recently, after a pretty heavy storm we had a power failure. At the time I was using an .exe program ...and I also had firefox operating. When I booted my computer up again neither program would function. I wasn't too bothered about firefox, but the other .exe program is pretty important as I need it for my job. Anyway, I managed to get the .exe program working again by opening it with the Compatibility Wizard and running it as if it was XP. (However it wouldn't permanently "save" in this mode, so had to go through the wizard everytime I had to use it).
Before I "found" the Compatibility Wizard solution, I restored the computer to before the power failure, but this didn't make any difference. Now I have had a second power failure. Once again with the .exe program open. And now it won't open at all, either with the wizard or without it. I reinstalled the program...and it still didn't work. (Although Firefox did when reinstalled). I have done a Registry Repair with RegSofts registry repair software....but still nothing. Now I am "a bit" stuck, to say the least !

I had an unusual happening on my PC. First noticed some instability while trying to open a file from Explorer, could not scroll down to file and it was jittery. Then, every time I tried to enter on an input line, an endless string of zeros were input and I could not overide or erase. Even on Email addressees. I tried a reboot and the zeros appeared on the start up password line and I could not logon. Same thing after complete power cycle. I suspected a stuck key on the keyboard and tried a different keyboard but no help. So I tried a complete restore. At first, it seemed to have the same problem, but somehow, eventually, I got logged on and now everything seems OK. But I don't really know what caused this and fear it could happen again.

if i go to the start button to go to my computer the window will open on the first try , but say i try to go to my computer again it will just sit there and not open. the exployer window will open but not the contents inside.does not care how many times i try it will only open the window and show nothing inside , a bar will go across the top to show progress but still it will not open.if i restart the computer i can open up the my computer or just computer in W7.like right now i tried to open up the window to check my hard drive and im still waiting for it to open.this goes on on both of my computers running windows 7.all coms are updated to the fullest and im not overclocking or doing anything other normal stuff. So is there a bug or somthing that im missing , once again if i go to start , and hit computer the window will open on the first try , but if i do it to many times it will just open a window and just sit there.even further if i open it up and try to open a file it will just hang there and not open , there is no error warning or nothing.

I was wondering if there was any type of program that allows the computer to run in a minimal power state while leaving file sharing accessible so that I can transfer files without one computer using much power. I looked around and kinda doubt it, but I thought i'd try here first

I'm on a network where I keep my files but I'm very aware of whether or not these might be open elsewhere. From time to time at any old time of the day (randomly it seems in other words) I'll go in and try to arrange, rename, or get rid of files and I'll get "The action can't be completed because the file is open in Windows Explorer. Close file and try again". Except that the file ISN'T open anywhere.

I just got a new Samsung RC420 laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium edition OS. When I was installing a software last night, a message pops up and tells me I cannot continue installation until I close a certain program (in this case it was Adobe Updater, which was not opened at all).Today, I am trying to open "my briefcase" from a USB thumb, but a message pops up telling me I cannot open "my briefcase" as it appears a file in it is already open. But nothing else is open on my computer. It was my first time opening anything from the USB thumb.

I work at an attorneys office and we subpoenaed a surveillance video from a local gas station. They sent us a CD with a file titled "viewer.bat", but I'm not sure what to do with it.
When I try to open it I receive the error message "viewer.bat not a valid Win32 application". I'm also not sure how a .bat has anything to do with a video file (unfortunately I have no experience with .bat files).
There are is also a folder on the CD called "disstech" and it has three folders in it called "bin", "dis" and "log". What am I working with here?

I tried to open a simple pdf file in Windows Live Mail but this super Windows 7 says there is no program associated to open it? It says to go the default programs section. So I did but even though I have Adobe Reader #10 installed it, of course, is not on the list of programs. Then, there is nothing to click on to add a program.
