Naively, I put some of our folders with documents and videos on the start menu. After doing so, we could not retrieve the folders. So I deleted them from the start menu, but now I still can't find them. Where did they go?
I created a Ramdisk and moved all my different browser cache(Opera FF, IE) to it. I moved the IE Cache using tools>options>bowsing history settings>move folder The cache is being saved to all of them including the IE, but the IE folder is always empty. How do I get it to show me the folders
i use BitLord to download random stuff anyways the Downloads Folder Shows up like this : Now when i open Nero up it shows this Weird thing is if i hover over the folder from normal window it says the Downloads folder is only 800mb (as it is only showing me one item) yet from Nero it says the folder is over 9 Gigs. Im set as Owner of the folder and i have all permissions set for me however i am still unable to see these files outside of nero and i don't know why. When i go and try to change the permissions on the folders (the locked ones) windows says the files/folders doesn't exist...
I have just done a clean install of Win 7 Pro 64. I have set up four accounts and for each one I have moved the user folders to a separate hard drive by using the Right Click Properties > Location > Move. I have done this for the following folders:
- Desktop - Downloads - My Documents - Favorites - Links - My Music - My Pictures - Videos
I have done it exactly the same way on each account (and more than once! I've been imaging the disk and have restored backwards a few times.)
The problem is, on three of the accounts, when I move the My Music, My Pictures, and Videos then they do move correctly but three rogue folders appear named Music, Pictures and Videos. And I can't delete then since they are system folders.
But the weird thing is that this does not happen on one of the accounts!
how to get rid of the extra folders as they're cluttering up the users home folder and causing confusion.
In Windows 7 how can I change "Folders View" for individual folders without changing them system wide. For example if I select "always show icons" all my folders are set this way, and that's fine. But there are a few folders I have containing jpeg images, and I want to view those as "thumbnails" without effecting the others which are set to always show icons.
This was very easy to do in Windows XP but I can't figure out how to do it in Windows 7.
I have problem, recently all new folder are created optimized for video content with big pictures and such. How can I fix that so they are created as normal folders, because this is driving me nuts having to change this for every new folder.
The structure of my photos library is Y/Y_M/Y_M_D, e.g. 2010/2010_04/2010_04_16 for today. I want to change all the '_' to '-'. Does anyone know an easy way of doing this?
1.I had created a locker on my desktop using "Folder Lock" software. 2.Subsequently I made the locker invisible using "Folder Protect" software. 3.When I was trying to add more files to the locker created in 1 the locker tried to "increase it's size on the run"... 4.This process failed and "Folder Lock" shut down and since then I cannot locate the locker anymore on my PC nor can I see it in "Folder Protect" 5.Having read on a forum, I uninstalled "Folder Protect" and reinstalled...but that did not help..I still could not find the Locker. 6.I even uninstalled and reinstalled "Folder Lock"...even this did not help 7.I understand the lockers created by "Folder Lock" are UNDELETABLE. 8.Clearly my locker is somewhere on my hard disk but I am unable to locate it.
I have details on my folders, I can add some columns for certain items. But its only for that folder, isn't there a way to get a folders and subfolders to look the same way?Doing Properties/Customize/also apply to this template to all subfolders - didn't work.
i can't browse my computer when i'm going to save a file either when i'm gonna upload something somewhere.

my guess is have to be something with the libraries but can't figure it out.. i've tried everything that is 'obvious' like dragging folders into the white area etc.
I have always been able to create sub folders by using the menus or by right clicking on the highlighted folder. All of a sudden this capability is gone. Nothing happens when I click on "New Folder" in the top menu. If I highlight the folder and rignt click the only choice given me is to create a "Briefcase."
right click desktop, new, folder. That is the folders I can not delete I made folders to store pictures, junk etc. These folders can not be deleted by windows even in safe mode. I can make another folder and stick it in the folder I am trying to delete.example one folder is titled junk, I can make a folder and stick it inside folder titled junk and delete the folder, but soon as I do a new folder titled junk is back on my desktop. file names can not be changed
on a fresh install of Win 7 64 bit, in some situations when I open a folder (for eg. when I right-click on a link and choose open containing folder), the folder doesn't come to the front. It opens but sits blinking on the taskbar. I want it to get focus and come to the front.
In my workings with Windows 7, I have come across a few folders that have been created by the system or and installation, they are all locked and are a number/letter combination type name. The first contains a copy of iesetup.exe dated 2/8/2009. The second contains an MPsigStub.exe dated 5/21/10, the third has an amd64 folder that shows up as empty, I didn't have show hidden files on. The fourth has another iesetup.exe same date, ie8.msu same date, a .dll same date and a eula.rtf dated 2/12/09. I do not believe that they are required but I have been wrong enough times to ask more learned and experienced people about it. May I safely delete them?
Through some obvious fault of my own, and probably during one of two complete Windows 7 Ultimate reinstalls, I ended up with four of five folders within my ProgramData folder that appear to belong to another user. Since I am the only user on the system, and since Win 7 tells me that I need permission from myself to access these files, I was confused. Two of these folders had data from both Nero, and Nuance. Attempting to upgrade either of these applications failed, probably due the protected, or read-only, status of these folders. While I couldn't erase them, I was able to rename them. While that then cause both applications to fail, reinstalling these applications with straightforward, and I'm no longer locked out of these folders.
That just leaves the two folders that I renamed, and am unable to delete under any circumstances. I even tried booting the system under a standalone Linux, and any attempt to delete these folders failed there also. This situation is more of a net, or annoyance, then any major problem, but I would be happy to listen to anyone's ideas about how I might delete these folders.
When I save a file, I would like to have a panel of my folders - like My Documents, Desktop, and all that, on the left of the dialog box like there used to be in Win XP. Is there a way of doing this in Windows 7
my lap top (toshiba running windows 7 32 bit) is only 1 year old and it has been acting insane as of late. i have lost all my music/pix/docs. everything.. that was mainly my fault for now backing it up but anyways. right now it seems to be working normal except for ONE PROBLEM, i cant create new folders. i have searched and found some people with the same problem but they dont have the option there. i have the option..i click it..and it says this." unexpected error is keeping your from creating the folder. if you continue to receive this error, you can use the error code to search for help with this problem. 0x800700003: the system can not find the path specified:I'm not sure if i get this everywhere. i mean its weird i can creat a new folder on the desktop but if i go in to the music folder and try then i get the above message.
I am having problem with "my pictures". I don't think I am going crazy. There is a folder that I copied from my digital camera not showing up in "my pictures"
I have an "EntCent" pc in the lounge. IT records and TV and has DVD sand CDs stored on it.I want to be able to stream TV and DVDs etc to other PCs on the LAN. They all use Win 7 home prem SP1.I have set up to be able to see the Lounge TV from my workroom PC. I have made sure I shared both the DVD folder and the Recorded TV folder, to the Homegroup, read/write. There is a LAN password, but the folders are shared without any further encryption.I can see Recorded TV, but I am told I do not have access to DVD. As far as I can see they are identical regarding permissions. Is there anything I should be looking at?EDIT: I will add that I have tried opening the DVD folder in Win Explorer, and also tried adding it as a folder in WMPlayer, by selecting it as a network multimedia device. I can add the folder but then WMPLayer says it cannot access the folder. Both methods above work on the Recorded TV folder on the Lounge Machine?
As the attachements show, there are 7 Roxio/Sonic files[shared] in Ccleaner but I do not use Roxio or Sonic. There are also tons of Silverlight files in Ccleaner along with as many Activex/Com issue. Also, there are Ubuntu and VM files in Windows Explorer which I tried but thought I removed.>Question, can I remove them?I was trying to get Ccleaner to run out of a VM so I could delete all if there was trouble.s the best way to 'image' prior to running Ccleaner or is there a better way?If I restore the registry and there is trouble will system restore recover from the trouble?
Recently, I haven't been able to open my 'Music' or 'Videos' folders simply by double-clicking on them. However, I have been able to open- said folders - by right clicking and selecting 'Open'- but it's not like I want to be doing this for as long as I own my netbook. I want my Windows to go back to the way it was before all this happen- double-clicking on folders would open them- instead of giving me these pop-ups.Every time I double-click, I get a pop-up that says "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if one is already currently installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel".
I currently have Windows Media Player and Microsoft's Zune software installed on my PC- with regards to managing my media (photos, videos and music). Both programs work fine. The earliest restore point I could go back to is on September 29th 2010.This problem has existed before then.
I was wondering if it was possible to sync two folders together so that if I change anything on one of the files, the other one will automatically sync to it. I want to use this for my Mincraft Servers, as I would always have a safe backup of my servers.
Until recently, my Windows 7 desktop showed a series of large folders in thelower/center part of the screen for various files and photos, but now they'vedisappeared.
I was going to restore my netbook OS back to XP from Windows 7 (The fancy looks aren't worth the trouble) and I found I had apparently deleted my XP restore file. So I decided to stick with Windows 7 for awhile. One irritating feature was that my files and folders within a folder were not in alphabetical order. It took me 30 min of messing around to finally alphabetize one folder and apply that to all folders
