View 3 RepliesA few months ago i bought this computer and now it's beginning to mess up. Everytime i turn it on, it works fine for about10 - 25 minutes before everything becomes unresponsive and slow. I have tried using ctrl+alt+del and selecting Task manager when this opens i go to 'Resource Moniter' and click the Disk tab and the blue line should hang around the bottom but after a while it goes up to the very top and stays there and the light on my computer with the stacked disks above it turns on instead of flashing on and off before my computer becomes unresponsive, my only solution so far is to press and hold the Power button until my computer shuts down.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI use an Asus g50vt., Windows 7 Ultimate x64. Recently I've encountered a problem with my DVD drive. My DVD drive: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T50L ATA Device. I'm trying to install an application, in this case Guild Wars 2. Things are going smoothly until the installation freezes. If I try to interact with the DVD drive via My Computer, Windows Explorer freezes up and I need to end the process and start it up again. The disk will not eject from the drive. If I try to reboot, it freezes on boot-up and I need to turn the computer completely off and on again for it to work. Once it boots up, it's returned to normal. If I try to reinstall Guild Wars 2, the whole issue repeats itself.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Samsung R519 laptop, after installing windows 7 the dvd drive is not working. It is not shown in the device manager. Sometimes after a reboot it does appear in the device manager and I have tried to do the repair as stated on other forums, (remove upper and lower filters), but on all occasions there has been no upper or lower filters shown in the right hand panel. I know it is connected ok as I re-installed Vista and now have both OS and the dvd drive works ok in Vista.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've got a WD My Book 1110 external hard drive, originally for Mac. My Mac died and so I got a Windows 7 machine. I extracted all the data, reformatted the two partitions I had on the drive, and moved the data back onto it. The partitions showed up with letters, all was fine, until I restarted my machine. Now I can't access the drive. It shows up in Disk Management, lists the properties, but the drives aren't assigned letters, they don't show up in Explorer, and Disk Management says the partitions are 100% free. Also in Disk Management, when I right click on the volume, all options are greyed out except Delete. Taking some clues from the internet, I've already tried uninstalling the drivers (it says they're up to date, and said it reinstalled them fine, and that the drive was ready to use, except it still doesn't show up.)

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm new to Windows 7 (Ultimate) and like to have a machine that runs nice and fast with no unessential items running in the background. Last night I did a bit of tweaking (mostly in gpedit.msc) and went a step too far, but I'm not sure which step I need to undo and haven't been able to find a solution in a 4 hour google session. When I click on My Computer, the cupboard is bare.I have a 500gb drive partitioned into C: and D: and a DVD drive E:The right pane is empty, and when I plug in a USB drive it doesn't show either. When I click on libraries, I can manually enter C: or D: in the address bar but it's a bit inconvenient. I usually use Total Commander rather than Windows explorer, but it's been difficult to set up my downloads location etc as they don't appear in the available options. In device manager the disk is showing.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI did a clean install of windows 7 ultimate 64 bit and everything seems to be fine except that in windows explorer it is showing an extra CD-Rom drive that I don't have.
i tried uninstalling both of my dvd burners (1 ide & 1 sata) and that didn't solve anything.
the drive doesn't show up in computer management/storage/disk management.
i guess this isn't really hurting anything but it is very weird and i'd like to get rid of it as it is rather confusing.
I am using Windows 7 enterprise modified like windows 8 and my CD ROM DRIVE is not showing up in my computer. My cd boots when starting up but not showing on my computer. I have went into cmd prompt > regedit > HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SYSTEM > CurrentControlSet > Control > Class > {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}(CD ROM CLASS) and there was no uperclass filter or lowerclass filter available so I could delete them.I will be really happy if you could tell me anything else I could try to get my CD ROM DRIVE back.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have two SATA harddrives 0 and 1. I had Vista on firsst partition on 1 dual booting with XP on 0. When I came to load W7 it did not see drive 1 so I ended up booting it on a partition on drive 0. It is still a dual boot installation.
The problem is that W7 still does not see drive 1 (visible in XP and previously Vista)
It is not visible in computer management or elsewhere. The drive has 3 primary partitions none of which are logical.

I 've tried everything but still not working. this is a new hard drive which has never fell and no physical damage. and please don' t tell me to return it cos it was bought in another country. the only option right now is to fix it?

View 12 Replies View RelatedI bought a M1530 on the cheap a few months and installed Win 7 x64 with a lot of research primarily from here. Everything worked perfect. The drive is a Teac DVW28SLC. It's a slot load and the only eject button is with volume and DVD controls above the keyboard. I needed to burn something to DVD. I decided to try Imgburn for the software.Installed it, popped a fresh DVD-R in. DVD drive recognized the blank. I usually reboot a computer before burning, realized I didn't so I rebooted. Now, the drive no longer works.
After the reboot:
-Drive is visible to bios.
-Drive cycles on boot up, checking for a disc.
-Drive is not visible in explorer
-Drive is not visible to diskmgmt.msc
-Drive is visible, not disabled and properly installed in the device manager.
-Card reader also seems to not be visible either but is showing up in device manager.
-Disc will not eject from keyboard button.
Things I've tried to fix it:
-Several reboots.
-Uninstall Imgburn.
-Uninstall Daemon Tools Lite.
-Uninstall Drive in Device Manager, then reboot.
-Uninstall Drive and ATA controllers then reboot.
-Delete upper and lower filers at HKLMSYSTEMCurrentCOntrol SetControlClass{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}, no entries were present.
-Reinstall chipset drivers, though I don't think Intel installer changed or installed anything.
-Fixit does not work.
Bought a LG Blu-ray internal sata rewriter. Installed it and windows 7 found it first time. So far so good. Put windows into sleep mode and when I woke it up the sata drive was missing. The drive was not only missing, but the tray failed to manually open and the activity light did not illuminate. Drive totally dead. Check all power and sata cables all ok. Done a full reboot and drive came back ok. This only happens when the machine is put into sleep mode. Sata drivers all up to date and all cables 100%. Turn the machine fully off or restart and everything works ok each time. Use sleep mode and it fails when you bring the m/c to life.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a problem My 3TB Western Digital Hard Drive is not showing up on any PC I connect it to. The light on the drive itself is on, but no where on the PC does it register.
I am pretty sure the disks aren't spinning either, but that is probably because the computer isn't picking it up, and no vice-versa.
So I recently purchased and installed a new hard drive in my PS3. To do that I had to reformat my Western Digital 250 GB hard drive to FAT32 format. Ok, so that's all well and good but I then decided to take my PS3, 60 GB HD (the brand escapes me, but it's a big manufacturer of hard drives) and put it in an external hard drive enclosure. I figured that it's a perfectly good hard drive so there was no sense wasting it. Anyway, as technologically impaired as I might sound after this (which I'm really not) I feel compelled to divulge that I actually did not know that two external hard drives shouldn't be too close to each other. As soon as I put one on top of the other, the 60 GB hard drive beeped and a message popped up saying it needed reformatting. So after reformatting everything a second time, I plugged in the hard drives and the 60 GB one showed up but my 250 GB one did not.
It's showing up everywhere else (disk management, device manager) but not in My Computer. So I have no access to it at all. Also, I did not need to reformat the 250 GB HD since my computer gave me no message indicating that I should. I'd rather only use reformatting as an absolute last resort since it takes HOURS but if it's necessary that I'll have to break down. Throw other options at me first though

Shared XP drives are shown on Windows 7 machine but are not accessible. The following are done for trouble shooting:
1) Shutting down AV and firewall
2) Clean boot
3) Safe mode with network and
4) Turning off "password protected sharing" on Windows 7
Still showing up under My Computer. Anyone else have this problem? Suggestions?

The big problem is that my 1TB secondary drive is not letting me access files (the drive is still showing space used, I just can't see it).
I have a couple months worth of pictures I'd really like to not lose.
I use a 64gig SSD for a boot drive and everything else is set up on the mechanical 1TB drive. This was a clean install about 9 months ago, both drives were new and I used a full version of Windows 7.
My c: is ntfs and it have 200 gb space but not show any space. I want to it will show all space.
