I'm building a multimedia server that is going to be running Windows 7 Ultimate as the OS. I have a full version of Windows 7 Ultimate and I created a bootable flash drive and loaded the ISO files on it.
This new system doesn't even have a CD/DVD drive installed on it which is why I'm using a flash drive to install it. Everything boots up fine from the beginning, asks me for the language and all the other stuff. When I click on INSTALL it then gives me a screen that says:
"A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now.
Note: If the Windows installation media is in the CD/DVD drive, you can safely remove it for his step." I have done a little bit of research and people suggest using the SATA drivers for the motherboard. I've tried that and still doesn't work. I have all the minimal stuff on the motherboard. Only one SATA HDD (500GB WD Green) 2GB of RAM, USB keyboard and mouse and that's it.
The only thing I can think of is that Windows doesn't realize it's being installed from a flash drive. I tried hooking up a DVD ROM drive to see if that would help but still got the same error.
i cant get my dell mini (16gb ssd, 2 gb ram) to install a clean boot of RC1 7100. It sticks at cd/dvd driver missing. what gives with this? does anyone really have an answer?i have verified the hash, burned at 1x, 2x, 4x, run from a bootable flash drive, stood on my head, etc. What driver is it looking for?
i had a virus and i ended up wiping out my operating system, then i bought windows 7 and installed it. But when i did, the display adapter for my laptop screen disappeared. I have been dual screening for awhile because i had an accident and my screen cracked so i've been using an external monitor. I try to play online games but i cant because my graphics card is kind of innactive and i cant find a way to get another driver to get the laptop screen to come back on. can anyone help me?
Ok so I think I have a new one. I downloaded a copy of Windows 7 and obtained a key through the MSDNA program that my uni subscribes to. This is a completely legitimate operation that (from what I can see) is putting out the release version of window 7 a bit early. When installing I don't get any "This is beta software, it may break" style messages and while I can't find the version string, I'm thinking that it is what is going to go out to the public.
Through the MSDNA program a downloader gets the iso, and then verifies the CRC so there is no chance of a download error.
So I try to install and every time get "A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. (etc)".
Here is what I have tried, roughly in order.
Official sata, then raid, then ide drivers from motherboard manufacturer (via flash drive). Using IDE cd drive (liteon) instead of sata cd drive (liteon) Using a usb-based cd drive (optiarec) on different usb ports with various states of other drives plugged in / not plugged in. Using a flash drive to install by copying files from iso. (worked fine.
Same cd error messageTried this with various states of including and removing cd drives because I though if installer could not see any drive it may cry. Tried along with above drivers. Tried along with all previous vista installed drivers from drivestore folder and around. (took bloody ages) Tried with other non-official drivers Tried a few cd, ahci, etc drivers from vista.
Tried various states of using previous versions (7100 and 7048) drivers. Went back to the sata drive, then the IDE drive with various different bios settings. Tried sata drive on different chipset (I have two different sata controllers on the board). Unfortunately could not turn main sata controller off because I need it for my hdd.
Tried various drivers and driver packs semi-official, then anything I could find on rapidshare etc. These included large nforce packs. Tried removing all the sata hdds except the ones I need. Burnt a 7100 dvd which seemed to work fine. Tried cd swapping at various stages of install (i'm getting desperate here). Tried changing boot order as per windows kb [edit] Also: (gah it deleted my edit)
I am running a M2N32-sli deluxe board. It's an epic board with vast amounts of feature but I can't set ahci / ide (etc) mode on it. I don't have the official driver cd for this board any more, but I've tried all the official drivers and they don't work. I'm trying to install onto raided raptors, So I can't install on a different system and move the drives (I could but it would be messy and I'm not quite that desperate yet).
I think thats it I have read every forum thread tried everything I possibly can. The stupid thing Is that in searching for a driver I can look in my large (1tb) volumes, the flash drive, and cd drives and even my raided raptor drives. Everything works fine but because of this (I'm beginning to believe bugged) screen I can't go any further.
To try next:
Different methods of flash installation (bartpe instead of straight copy) Bios updates for motherboard / drives (pretty sure running close to top version though). Other ... dirty ... tricks.
I'm supposed to be getting this version as the pre-cutting edge wave of folks who are going to say yer go get this it's awesome and people believe me because I do everything with computers. If I can't get past things like this then lamen folk sure as hell aren't going to be able to.

I have a machine I am fixing, and the HTTP non plug-and-play driver is missing; I would like to reinstall it without a restore. I am running SFC /scannow at the moment to try and fix it as well.
I have been trying to install Windows 7 Professional x86 several times, and always encounter the same problem.
I downloaded Windows 7 via the MSDN Academic Alliance and then copied all files to a recently reformatted 4Gb USB stick.
Then I changed the BIOS settings on my computer to boot from the USB drive, and it boots and then starts. When i press on the Install button however, it says its starting the install but then quickly and the following message appears;
"A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now.
Note: If the Windows installation media is in the CD/DVD drive, you can safely remove it for this step." The message also allows me to browse for said missing drivers, but i cant find any drivers anywhere.

I have a gateway GT5656 desktop which came with Vista OS. I recently upgraded to win7 ultimate. I then discovered that my drivers were missing for audio, etc. I went to gateway.com and downloaded then installed the audio drivers. This seemed fine but when I went to use the front mic jack I received a message saying that I needed to visit this site and get vista drivers...Is this correct? Shouldn't I get win 7 drivers?

Ive just completed a format/reinstall of Win 7. Before the wireless was working absolutely fine, afterwards I cannot even detect an available connection. I can connect to the internet on the computer via an ethernet cable though. If I go to control panel and look at the hardware, there is a 'network controller' with a yellow triangle indicting a problem. Upon searching for drivers on the internet I am informed that a driver is installing but then I get a message saying that the issue was unable to be fixed. The issue is identical to this thread Help: Network controller doesn't have a driver. except that my hardware id is different. On that thread some nice person indicted the correct driver based on the id's he posted, but I have no idea how to do this. In properties, my hardware IDs are:
