You can join a domain on Windows 7 Home Premium x64, sp1, but the button to change domain name you can not use. How do I find where this is coming from as I don't know who my server is or how to access some user accounts in it?

My laptop has a PGP total disk encryption. I can log in on the first PGP login screen. After that, Windows 7 login appears and I can not login using my usual name and password.
View 5 Replies View Relatedrecently I used a software AVG PC Tuneup and it has never been a problem for me until a couple of days ago when I decided to install it on my DELL. Now, I went to system advisory and did a system scan on recommended settings, I pressed 'fix selected' and my Wifi was disabled, I tried everything. I can't get my wifi to work without plugging in my modem directly ot my pc. I noticed my wifi radio was disabled, so I pressed the F2 button but nothing worked. I am trying to re enable my wifi radio / wireless radio connection button but it won't work.
My program intel my wifi utility tells me my wifi is disabled but I can't enable it.

I accidentally took my laptop off the domain while installing a printer from a workgroup network, and placed the laptop on the workgroup, once restarted I cannot log in anymore, I am trying the password recovery tools to log into the administrator account.Is there a way for me to roll back the settings and have it back on the domain the way it was without being connected to the domain?And to get the user account back the way it was (basically just the network settings) so that I do not have to setup a new profile and migrate all the settings and programs?

I am using Samba 3.5.8 and I am trying to join a Windows 7 64Bit laptop to my domain.

However when I try join the domain i get the following message:"The following error occurred attempting to join the domain "MYDOMAIN"The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted.If I do a nslookup it resolves the domain controller, as well if i watch the traffic I can only see UDP traffic on that IP, however i can still browse the web from it?

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe power button on my PC has stopped working as it used to. Pressing the power button on my PC would normally send the PC to sleep, then pressing it again would wake it.Two things I have noticed
1) My PC stopped automatically going to sleep like it used to (after 1 hour) as set in the power setting's of the control panel - I have to manually "Shut Down" or "Sleep" from start menu now.
2) Pressing the power button, now just restart's the computer, greeting me with a "Windows did not shut down correctly" message after the BIOS post.
After the initial install of windows (if I remember correctly) the power button did not do anything unitl the ACPI drivers where installed (giving a message in the action centre saying "You need to install the power management"), after installing the ACPI drivers (Cool & Quiet from the ASUS site) the power button appeared to work as expected.Then randomly, a while ago, I got another message in the Action Centre, again saying "You need to install the power management ....", but I archived the message and am not sure how to view it again.Im not sure as to why this would start happening as it would suggest something has happened with the ACPI drivers and I dont know how I can actually check ACPI drivers in the device manager console. Also, is cool n quiet something specific to ASUS motherboards? I dont think I had this problem with a previous MSI board.#

On windows 7 64 bit the start button(orb) does not load Right click does? I have scanned for viruses and restarted in last good configuration When I reboot I get one go at the start button and it works but never again I use a Toshiba Qosmio laptop.

Yesterday I changed OS to Windows 7 Professional x64 (I got all drivers from hp oficial web) but still I have this message: " Keyboard filter 01 is not installed". View 2 Replies View RelatedI changed my Windows start sound a while back.After updates some time ago, it changed back to the original.I decided to change it back the way I wanted it and opened up the imageres.dll file in the Windows System32 folder using Resource Hacker.I found that the Imageres file still pointed to my sound file and when I hit play it, it played my sound.But my computer plays the default sound when it boots.I ran a search and found another Imageres file at this location...C:Windowswinsxsx86_microsoftwindowsimageres_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_none_dc93f95659399ba8imageres.dllThis file plays the original Windows sound but will not let me change it even with Resource Hacker.I go through the process on a copy of the file pasted on my desktop, but while I don't get any error messages, it still plays the original sound after completing the process.
