I'm using Windows 7 64bit and everytime I use a browser like Opera or Chrome or something the taskbar becomes completely unresponsive until I close the browser. I don't think this has always been happening though, because like I've had 64bit installed for about a week now and only noticed this now. So yeah if there's anyway to fix this without a reinstall I would really like to know it
The only thing I've installed lately were 181.22 drivers from nvidia which I uninstalled to no avail. don't know why that would help but there you go haha.
I have been in IT for 10+ years and have done desktop/server support, programming, DBA, etc. I have come across an issue on my personal laptop that has stumped me. This started recently in the past month. It was around the time, I did a few windows updates and a FF update. So I have been unable to pinpoint what caused it. All of my browsers started to freeze upon loading a new page (even non flash webpages, ie google.com) They would freeze for 5-10 minutes. I noticed if I disabled the flash plugin in FF, then FF acted normally. I uninstalled the flash activex module, and IE started to work properly again as well. I did a lot of testing by removing flash and all of my adobe components (CS4) and acrobat. Anything flash related I removed completely, I then used a tool provided by adobe to remove any leftover remnants of adobe (registry entries, folders, etc). I tried many different versions of FF, Opera, Safari and Chrome and many different versions of the flash player (9-current). They all acted the same with flash installed, if I uninstalled flash, all the browsers worked perfectly fine.
My specs are: Duo Cereon 2x2.4Ghz 4Gb ram Radeon 7700 HD Windows 7 Professional
Its completly new but here is the kick. Sometimes when i use firefox..IE or opera or chrome....it works fine...sometimes when i press somewhere It freezes...but most common freeze is when i close browser...
I looked around internet and i can't find anything like this... I mean PC freezes like picture...i waited over 12 hours...and it was still frozen nothing seems to react...Keyboard or mouse...only to unfreeze i have to do hard reset
All my browsers were freezing and crashing. I was getting the DNS 1012 error. I found out I was missing my host file. I added back the host file. Chrome and Internet explorer worked ok for a little while, then they started crashing again. I took off Chrome and replaced with Opera. Opera worked perfectly for a day and I thought my troubles were over. The next day, it started freezing and crashing and I am getting the DNS 1012 error again. If it's not recognizing the host file, why did Opera work so well for that one day. Also I noticed when I go to my embarqmail account, that's when the freezing really begins and then it affects other sites I go to after that.
after I start windows, taskbar and desktop lock up in about 3-5 minutes. I cannot do anything, except ctrl.+alt+del and log off and log in, then it works again for 2-3 minutes and locks up. also, if I have a browser open, then thre is no problem working in it.
neither cause some other programes, like games some problem, they work fine too. but windows taskbar and explorer seem to freeze. problem ocuured after I installed steam. I already uninstalled it and did system restore, but it doesn't help.
I'm having this problem every time I connect my usb mouse the task bar freeze .. I did not have this problem before and I used this mouse many times .. I don't know what happend ?? I have to restart the laptob ( or closing explorer.exe ..
I`ve got a weird problem that keeps happening. Without any errors or warningall of my Desktop Icons become frozen. I cannot activate any of them. If Ihave any windows open in the Taskbar or programmes running in the System trayI can left/right click on any of them and they all workfine(Programmes/Window Explorer/IE7 etc). I can access the Start menu andis the solution if it happens in Windows Vista but this
Im having screen freezes every couple of days. My whole computer just freeze what its doing.Been

Cant even move the mouse. My keyboard can change colours via buttons on it (logitech g110). I cant even change the colours coz its like the whole pc is in a time freeze..Due to this i dont get an "windows had an unexpected error" message when i restart the computer...
Is there a method/hack or a 3rd-party program that allows the user to hide the taskbar by dragging its top border line downwards, after un-locking the taskbar? I remember I could do that under Win9x.
So about a month ago I restarted my computer and when it came back on all my programs pinned to my task bar and everything that was in my start menu was gone. From there I could not unlock the taskbar and nothing would pin in either the start menu or taskbar. I researched everywhere about it. I tried unlocking the taskbar in properties and registry with no luck. I finally found some posts about how my user profile was corrupt and from there I went on and made a new profile and copied everything and BOOM it all worked fine now. Well today it happened AGAIN! I restarted my computer and everything disappeared. So I think it is still a corrupt profile, but this is the second time it has happened.
I have a client that has laptop with windows 7 Pro. He had a faulty network card, so I have added a new, usb network card. That said, He can not pin anything to taskbar or start menu. I cleared both folders of shortcuts(567 of them) but to no avail. He also has no options under his desktop Context menu for New. He is also using a roaming profile, of which I will disable next time I am there. I have a feeling that might be the issue. I did scour the internet trying all the usual suggestions, but do vaguely remember something about an entry in cache somewhere that if it is too big or corrupt, it could cause this behavior. I am unable to find that post anywhere now.I mention the network card because one post had taskbar issues until he disabled his faulty network card. I have disabled the faulty network card.
I had a program installed called Spiral Knights, and I pinned the icon onto the taskbar so I could quickly launch it. When I was done playing it for good, I uninstalled it and it looked like the icon was off the taskbar, but it wasn't. When I tried to put another program onto the taskbar, called minecraft_server.jar, it pinned to the Spiral Knights icon, even though SK isn't installed anymore. Wherever I try to put the minecraft_server.jar onto the taskbar, the SK program is still there, and it says if I want to pin the minecraft_server.jar onto SK.
Suddenly since this afternoon I have not been able to print from any browsers. I am able to print test pages to the printer and print from any other applications (word and excel).
am running win7 64bit, plus paid for versions of bitdefender and AVG pc tune up, none of my 3 browsers will open ( even in safe mode) all of my icons across the bottom of the page have gone, and ALL programs now end in .lnkave been to accessories, system restore , did not complete a restore point, have tried tools, internet options, advanced , reset and this did not help, also been to control panel ,back up and restorehave got into view downloads, have tried open and save but it just keeps duplicating the contents of the box and asks me again do i want to open or save.
Most of the time, whenever I open a browser (Firefox, Internet Explorer, or Chrome) it takes 5-10 seconds before it will connect to any websites. The tabs just show the 'connecting' symbol spinning. This happens even if I'm only trying to open a single tab. It's not because the computer is going slow or anything, because I can still access other programs or do other things within the browser like open new tabs, view options, etc. It's not a problem with my internet connection, because while the browser refuses to load a site I can use the command prompt to ping the same site and I get a response immediately. This has only started happening recently, like in the past two weeks.
I've been getting the BSOD for the past 4-5 days whenever I'm on the internet. At first I was on firefox, then I tried ie and google chrome, and I got the BSOD using all of them.
Neither FF, Opera or Chrome open on my Sony Vaio 64bit system. I know I have Internet access as Avast updates every day. When the relevant icons are pressed the Blue loading ring appears for a few seconds then disappears. When I try to access Task manager by ctr/alt/del the screen appears asking which service I require but when I select Task manager the Blue ring appears and again disappears and nothing happens. I regularly run anti virus scans and everything else seems to work okay. I've heard a rumour that the Bonjour service could be the problem. I I did uninstall it but maybe there is something left behind.
i can't seem to run any of my browsers anymore, i do care about chrome the most and this is what it says when i try running it:"Google Chrome has stopped working". [code]
Working with a Toshiba Satellite L650 laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit.All of my browsers have suddenly stopped working (IE, Firefox and Chrome).I click on the icon, the "loading" mouse pointer shows up and then nothing happens.I've tried restarting my computer, checking for updates and doing a virus scan... nothing is working.I am now writing from another computer because I'm not able to access any webpage from the one that's having problems. My Avast antivirus says my computer is clean and I have no way of downloading any other software since browsers are not opening.
I've got a windows 7 machine connected to the internet through a gentoo linux firewall/router/proxy.
I used to have this problem a while ago on windows xp but worked around it with dns hacks on my linux box. This time I want to find the actual cause.
As of today, if I go to IMDB, most of the CSS files fail to load. Trying to get to the url directly, firefox and chrome both tell me that the IMDB cdn server can't be found. Running nslookup from the windows 7 machine managed to resolve the hostname perfectly. It also works flawlessly from the linux box.
I have transparent interception on port 80, going to a squid proxy which should perform all the DNS queries. It seems that browsers (firefox and chrome...untesed with others) still seem to be trying to perform DNS lookups themselves and for some reason, fail for certain addresses.
I get an error that says, "has stopped working" then it closes the window and reopens back to the same page. This happens at least once every five mins and with both chrome and IE. I've tried all the different things floating around the web on how to fix this and nothing works.
Its not a connectivity problem as uTorrent is constantly seeding in the back ground. I've disabled all add-ons as well as disabling all start up services.
My wife's computer has an issue that just started a week ago that's driving me nuts. The PC has been running Windows 7 Home Edition (64 bit) for over a year. She sat down to use her computer and tried to open IE (IE9). When she clicked on it, a window popped up that says "Internet explorer has stopped working". What's more troublesome is that NONE of the browsers on her PC worked (FF, Chrome, IE). They all give similar error messages and refuse to start.A friend of mine tried all of the following with no luck (the PC rebooted after each of these tasks):
Removed Chrome and FF. No change. ran Avast ran Malwareybytes ran Adaware ran Microsoft Security Essentials
[code]....
The kicker is that after all of this, I decided to install Opera and Safari and they work!! But the other three browsers still won't work! Also, if I boot into Safe Mode, all browsers work (IE, FF, Chrome). No changes were made to her computer prior to this happening. I really want to avoid re-installing Windows 7.
I'm probably using the worst browser, Internet Explorer. I used to use Firefox, but I was concerned with privacy issues once they teamed up with Google so I went back to Explorer. Two weeks ago I updated to version 9 of Internet Explorer and I'm constantly getting connection issues which I've never had before. What are the better browsers when it comes to both privacy and security?
In April of this year I ordered a new computer from ibuypower.com. I wasn't thrilled with its state when I received it, as the graphics card was defective and several cables were unattached. But, when I got a replacement card my games played just fine, which was my main concern.Thereafter I noticed that there was a problem whenever I tried to play sound through my browser. The sound is really muffled to the point that I can't understand anything that is being said. My normal browser is Firefox, but the same thing happens with IE and Chrome.
I work in tech support and I have a user that cannot play content on some sites (in particular iheart.com when trying to access 100.5 The KATT)and pulling pictures from oklahomapartypics.com.
--The KATT simply will not play. There is no error. --Oklahomapartypics.com displays an error that says:
"Unable to retrieve images. Please be sure that you are using a modern browser such as IE7+, Firefox 3.5+, Safari 3+ or Google Chrome. If you continue to get this error, please report error code (Images-1B). parseerror SyntaxError: JSON.parse: unterminated string"
This error comes up on all browsers from just this one computer. The computer is not believed to be infected (this issue was reported about 2 days after it was received brand new from Dell and configured for the user).
So for I have attempted the following:
-- reinstall the browsers -- access the sites from different/brand new local and domain profiles -- access the sites with the firewall/McAfee disabled -- complete removal/installation of .net 3.5/4 -- complete removal/installation of Silverlight -- complete removal/installation of Java -- ran sfc -- used msconfig to disable everything that was not absolutely required
I know the JSON error is javascript error, but javascript is browser dependent not system dependent. The fact that this happens even on a portable operating system indicates that this is related to a system resource that is shared by both browsers. Research turned up information indicating that json.dll variants are also installed by .Net 3.5/4 and Silverlight utilizes the .net framework.
I had been troubleshooting internet disconnects using Java based software called Internet Connection Monitor. I ran it for several days without problems and then one evening the computer was hosed up. It had rebooted back into Windows XP which I kept on the computer as a dual boot and after restarting it refused to boot Win 7. It suggested last known good settings and half way through it initiated a restore and finally booted to Win 7. However all was not well.
None of the 32 bit browsers were working, only IE9 64 bit also Malwarebytes will not update and Outlook won't open at all. After searching a bit I downloaded and ran Malwarebyte rootkit removal it found something and looks like it fixed that. A complete scan found some more viruses which got removed. I have tried flushing DNS, releasing and renewing ipconfig, and some other commands all to no avail the browsers still won't work. I have looked at system restore but there are only restores for after the problem occurred.
I have having recurring issues with either my browser or my network. Whenever I go to load a page, it tells me the dns cannot be found, which is strange because vuze and xbox live still work fine.I have this issue with any browser I've tried (IE, FF, GC; all most recent as far as I'm aware). I've tried restarting my router, adjusting the connection settings, winsock reset, reconnecting, and none of it seems to help.
I have a Windows 7 installed at Home. With 4 browsers : IE 9, Opera 11.50, Firefox 6 and Chrome 13.078. Now here's the problem, every program installed in machine can access the internet, Antivirus (Avast Free 6), Torrent, Windows Update, Firewall (PC Tools) and others too, BUT, the browsers. They just can't access the internet! I've checked the Firewall settings too, they're all OK. Also went through malware check (SUPERAntiSpyware) and it's all clean.
I just formatted my windows 7 a month ago and re-installed it . Few weeks ago i changed my modem to Netgear N150 modem + router . After that Most of the websites don't load . Eg : Facebook , yahoo , ms support , etc . I was scanning for any malware or virus but i didn't find any . And i hardly installed software in my computer . Even this forums is not loaded fully . My connection is really bad its oly 512kbps connection but most of the websites load in >10secs but now a days in any browser they are not loading at all. Not loading in the sense they are loaded half or not at all . Otherwise the loading thing is going on and on . It never ends. I checked my connection speed with speeedtest.net and got 524kbps which is my speed . When i download things i get the correct downspeed which i used to get early . But now most of the website are not loaded . I have norton and malwarebytes installed scanned the computer like ten times now . I first taut that dey both wer blocking web traffic and so i shut them down and i didn't find any improvements
