Bluetooth Dongle Is Installing, Properly Recognized, Can't See Devices
Oct 28, 2011
Purchased a brand new Asus USB-BT211 bluetooth dongle with the express goal of connecting a wiimote to my new computer. the machine runs Windows 7 x64, the drivers for the dongle install without a problem, and the bluetooth searching mode on the "add a device" screen appears to be running without a hitch.
when i place the wiimote into sync mode (holding down the red button), it never appears to be visible to the computer, and doesn't show up on the add a device screen. When I attempt this procedure with either of my other two laptop computers, (running Windxows Vista x86) using the same dongle, the wiimote syncs without a problem and can be used with other utilities such as glovePIE and JoyToKey and Dolphin.
So, tell me, Why is it that Windows 7 refuses to see the wiimote when i try to make the connection?

I purchase a Dell M5040 laptop that unfortunately was not bluetooth enabled. I checked the control panel and it was not installed, thus my problem. The audio On this laptop is terrible, even setting in my lap I can barely hear it. Most of the programs that I listen to is dialogue, but I also have a fair amount of music in my files. I'm in need of a reasonably priced dongle, that will pair with a Creative Labs D80. I'm also in need for a earpiece that won't echo that will filter background noise, that will pair to the aforementioned dongle.I have one last question, is there a signal strength booster for a cell phone. I have a Samsung Galaxy Proclaim with Verizon as the carrier, at best I may get four bars, but usually two. In the area where I live, the signal constantly varies, and drops calls.

I bought a bluetooth dongle [URL] to connect my phone to my computer. While the bluetooth dongle is plugged into the computer (windows 7), the computer will not go to sleep. It won't even go to sleep if I manually put it to sleep. I didn't see any settings in device manager to fix the issue.

I am using desktop with Intel motherboard and dual-core processor with airtel net connection. My os is windows 7 32-bit operating system. My problem is when I plug the bluetooth dongle it automatically detects the blue tray icon in the taskbar...(when I plugged my bluetooth device first it search and install some drivers but it showing "Bluetooth Peripheral Device - No Driver found" ). Then I had installed bluesoleil new version 8.0.370.0 but grey colour bluetooth tray icon is sitting in taskbar.
I cant open the bluesoleil. When I try to turn on bluetooth it will show some mesage "Starting Bluetooth", but bluetooth will not turn on. Two colour one is blue colour icon for bluetooth dongle device and another one is grey colour icon for bluesoleil software. But I can pair some devices and send data by using blue colour icon by plugging bluetooth device it automatically detects blue icon. I had installed older version 6.2.227.11, same problem i cant turn on the bluetooth.
I had installed in my friend laptop configuration windows 7 64-bit. In that I had installed bluesoleil 8.0.370.0. After installation, it showing some golden colour ball in center. Bluetooth dongle working properly by using bluesoleil my memory card is showing in his laptop. But software is not suitable for desktop. How to connect my bluetooth device by using bluesoleil latest version or older version in my desktop with correct configuration....

Out of the blue my win 7 Ultimate SP1 will not recognize CERTAIN USB devices plugged in the rear ports (I have 2 in the front, 4 in the rear). I get the "device not recognized " pop up. The strange thing is, all the the devices that I plug into the front 2 USB ports are recognized and work. I know the rear ports are functioning because when i plug in my scanner, or my flash drive, they work. However when i plug in my HP printer or my logitech mouse (which both work in the front ports), it says they are unrecognized.I have scoured the forums and have tried numerous things; unplugging power, uninstalling drivers, taking out MB battery, resetting CMOS, etc. All with no luck.I really cant imagine how my mouse can work in the front usb port but will not work in the rear one, in which my flash drive & USB-powered scanner work.

I just installed a new PCI USB 2.0 card into my machine. I have a Line 6 Toneport UX8 that connects to the PC by USB as the interface for microphones and instruments. Because of the high volume of data coming down the pipe from this external interface it is pretty much a 'mandatory recommendation' to use a dedicated USB controller in a PCI slot.
Anyway, I installed the PCI card just fine but when I plug in the UX8 to it, Windows 7 reports 'USB device not recognized'. It is recognized if I plug it into one of the motherboard's USB slots though. I need to use this PCI card, otherwise the recording quality is useless. I know other people have this external interface and run it into a dedicated PCI/USB controller with great results. So I am hoping someone here can suggest what I can do to get Windows 7 to recognize the card and the USB devices plugged into it.
I'm hoping I don't have to reinstall the OS since it will be a pain to have to reinstall again when the commercial licenses come out in less than a month (I'm assuming I'll have to reinstall since I will be using an upgrade from my XP Pro that I have not used since trying out this Windows 7 RC).

I upgraded my Dell Dimension 4600 to Windows 7 (clean install on new hard drive). At first everything worked perfectly. At some point, there was an update installed that included an updated Bluetooth Driver. Now, everything works except for my Windows Keyboard and Mouse Elite for Bluetooth. Windows Compatibility Center says it should work with default drivers but it doesn't. I tried rolling back the driver but that wasn't an option so I have uninstalled the device and driver and installed without internet connection so it would only install the native driver (verified by date and version). It still will not work. I have searched many forums including this one, probably tried 12 to 15 different proposed solutions and nothing seems to work. Device Manager says it is installed and working properly but when I go to Add a Device, it does not find anything (phone, mouse, keyboard) even though I have made sure they are discoverable, have working batteries, etc.
So, I went out and bought a new IOGear GBU421 Bluetooth 2.1 USB Micro Adapter that specifically says it is Windows 7 compatible. Per the instructions, I ran the Setup from the CD it came with and plugged in the adapter at the time the setup told me to. It installed all of the drivers and said I was ready to go. After a restart, I went to Add a Device and just like before it will not discover my mouse, keyboard or phone. I went to the IOGear website and downloaded and installed the updated driver with the same results. Still not working. I called IOGear and they stepped me through a few things and still not working. At their suggestion, I took the dongle to another computer that is also running Windows 7. At their suggestion, I just plugged it in and let Windows automatically install the drivers. After a restart I went to Add a Device and it worked perfectly on the other computer. So, their suggestion is to go back to my Dell, un-install what I installed from the CD and from the online update, remove the device via device manager and have it also remove the drivers, restart and plug in the dongle and let Windows find and install the drivers just as it did on my other computer. After doing all of that, it still will not work on the Dell.
So, I am thinking problem with my Dell. So, I boot to Ubuntu via CD and let it install it's native drivers. Bluetooth works perfectly with Ubuntu on my Dell. So, my reasoning and process of elimination, this has to be some setting with Windows 7. Perhaps there is something I did not remove? Perhaps there is a hardware conflict even though nothing shows up in Device Manager?

I have a Medialink Bluetooth dongle that I am unable to get to work with all my bluetooth devices. I have the drivers installed and everything seems as if it should be functioning properly. However, I am not able to pair my two Android devices or my Turtle Beach PX5 headset. I was able to connect with my printer so I'm sure the device itself is working properly. I'm just not sure what I am doing wrong with my other devices.

I have an Iogear bluetooth dongle that until a couple of weeks ago was working fine. I use it to connect to a bluetooth keyboard. I went on a trip and took the keyboard with me, where I paired it with my iPad. When I came back, the bluetooth could no longer find the keyboard, or any other bluetooth device for that matter.I've gone through all of the usual troubleshooting steps, including making sure it is set to run automatically, making sure the device drivers are updated, removing and reinstalling the device drivers, making sure the bluetooth settings are correct as far as set to find devices etc. with no luck.It does appear to be working as far as the device goes. There is a blue light on the dongle that blinks when I click to find a bluetooth device. When I put the bluetooth on the computer into discover mode, my phone is able to find the bluetooth radio, but it cannot connect with it. All of this, and the fact that it worked fine before, leads me to believe it may be a problem with my computer. I ran antivirus software, and although it found a couple of malware programs, nothing changed.

Here's what you need to do for both 32 bit and 64 bit Windows 7 systems:
- Download the 'Windows Mobile Device Center' ( current version is 6.1 ) which you can download it from url...this works for both Vista and Windows 7. I've tried it on both.
- Install the downloaded software but it may not look like it worked on Windows 7 PCs. Vista automatically configures the settings on the bluetooth devices but for those who have Windows 7, here are the things you should do:
- Go to 'Device Manager' from 'Control Panel' -Or- just right-click on Computer Icon and choose 'Properties' and then click on 'Device Manager'.
- You'll see an 'Unknown Device' named 'Bluetooth Peripheral Device'
- Right-Click it and click on "Update Driver Software" -Or- anyway you find it easy to bring up the Update driver window.
- Click "Browse My Computer for Driver Software" button.
- Click "Let Me Pick from a List of Device Drivers on my computer".
- Select 'Bluetooth Radio' from the list if it asked you to select and then in the next window, it will show a list of drivers with Company Names in one list and Drivers in another. In the Company List choose 'Microsoft Corporation', not only Microsoft.
- From the drivers list there may be one or more drivers with the name "Windows Mobile-Based Device Support" with different driver versions. Select one or the latest.
- Ignore any warnings and keep pressing next and then Finish at last. If all goes well, the last screen will show the message that device driver is successfully installed.
Now, after manually updating the driver for your bluetooth device, in 'Device Manager' when you click on 'Bluetooth Radios', it should display one more item which will say 'Windows Mobile-based device support'.There are few more things that you want to pay attention to. If you have already added the device in your 'bluetooth device list' that didn't work, then remove the device and add it again. After you add it, you might need to restart the computer if it gave you a connection problem error message. Every PCs that had Windows 7 and Vista worked after installing this software and I hope it will work for you too.

I recently upgraded my Acer Aspire One AOD150 Netbook to Windows 7 (32Bit) Home Premium with a clean install, everything works fine except for Bluetooth. I have installed latest drivers from the Acer site but to no avail. According to the Acer Hardware detection utility I have a Broadcomm Bluetooth card.
The Netbook OS was originally Win XP with a Logitech V470 Bluetooth mouse which worked perfectly, I could also discover and user phones and other bluetooth devices.
I have checked to make sure the Bluetooth services are started, and also checked to make sure that Power Saving on the mouse is not enabled (this caused loss of device problems with my new Windows 7 (64bit0 PC - so I disabled it on the Netbook as well)
It seems that no Bluetooth devices can be discovered, I have checked that the Bluetooth is switched on and tried discovering other mice, phones and computers but the system resolutely fails to see any Bluetooth devices at all!
