I've recently built my own computer, but I've come across a problem..Whenever i boot up my computer I get the blue screen and it would restart. At first it wouldn't really bother me since it would only happen once a day, but then i realized that after the blue screen only half of my overall RAM would be usable.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have just bought entirely new system about 4 months go or so, this has been a self build. The issues first had was whenever i select to shut down windows it starts shutting down and as it gets to the point where it actually is supposed to turn off it suddenly blue screens and then goes into a restarting boot! this is hugely frustrating as when i select shut down i want it to shut down not blue screen and restart. I formatted my machine about a month ago as the issue was getting extremely repetitive, once formatted everything worked great until just the other day it started again it is not as frequent as it used to be, it only happens once every 2 weeks or so. I know its not viruses as i run KIS and malwarebytes and regularly scan the system for any issues, i dont think its hardware because the system is new and i have used the best parts, also i dont think it is frequent enough to be hardware.
View 4 Replies View Relatedone day it suddenly crashed while i was watching a movie. it displayed random patterns on screen. kinda like part of the image from the video is on the screen then a black strip and random colors. I restarted the unit to safe mode and left it on and browsed the net and downloaded some big files for how many hours and nothing happened.. there are also times when windows is still loading with the windows logo on screen, it crashes. there are also times when the login screen is displayed and it crashes. it just crashes randomly! so i tried to reformat it. i deleted the partitions and created a new one, formatted it then fresh installed windows 7 ( my previous OS is windows 7 by the way) and started installing the basic drivers and after a few hours, it crashed again...thinking that the driver installed might not be compatible, i tried another fresh install of windows (same execution, delete partition, create, install OS) and this time, without installing the drivers, it crashed again after a few hours... sometimes it crashes immediately after turning it on from cold start!
View 7 Replies View RelatedBlue screen and freezing. This is happening frequently but never has any regularity to it. Sometimes happens after a couple of days and sometimes after a couple of minutes. Also sometimes with only one browser window open and sometimes with 15 or more. Happens with both chrome and firefox. Has not happened with other programs as this lapy only gets used for surfing/email/forums etc. Sometimes happens while the computer is sitting idle right after boot. Very strange.

I'm assuming it's a BIOS driver problem, but i'll leave it up to you guys to tell me, you're the experts :P I also tried doing a system restore, but for whatever reason when I try it just says the restore is initializing and it sits on that screen and never does anything. I've left it for about an hour before and still nothing, not real sure what the problem is there either. Right now I'm running the laptop off safe mode with networking and it's working fine, hopefully it's just a driver problem I can fix.
I'm on Windows 7 32bit and let me know if you need any more information.
i have a windows 7x64.Yesterday while watching videos my screen started jumping and crashed to a blue screen with(QPR is not less or equal i think) and after that i restarted and it came with other errors.Now when i switch on the laptop it only shows black screen with no option to do anything.

I went through the first part of the install and then after it rebooted, it load up to the "starting wondows", stays like that for a few minutes and then it disappears and I just have a black screen. Nothing happens after that. I haven't even completed the rest of the install.
I have my 2 extra HDD's disconnected. I've unplugged the extra monitors from the back.
When i boot up my PC, i see my asus screen, it loads up, and the screen is black, except for my mouse, which i can still see and move. After about 5 seconds, my desktop appears, and nothing is wrong (that i notice). This happens every time i fully shutdown my computer.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI just installed Windows 7 64-bit last night, and the installation went without a hitch. I started to install my programs and then things started to get a little hairy. Every once in a while (ranging 3 minutes - 3 hours) my computer will blue screen out with a mention of afd.sys. This usually happens when I try to do something with the network (ex: Skype, Trillian, etc.).
I'm too new to this to know how to read minidumps, so I thought I'd give them to you guys and see how you could help me. I'm up for any suggestions on how to fix this problem. Reformatting is not an issue, as I have time to spare (when I'm not at work). My system specs are up to date in my profile.

View 1 Replies View RelatedRepair company ****ed up my PC, they changed booting sequence and switch off BIOS booting screen. Now when I want to reinstall my system (because of serious virus) my PC doesn't accept booting win DVD and I can't see any port messages. Can't acces BIOS. I tried taping 'delete' , 'F2' , 'TAB' , 'F8' non of it works. Maybe it works because when I tried taping them I couldn't see anything on screen 'no signal to monitor' and system didn't start at all. It takes 15 minutes to start system now without touching anything.It's new computer connected to plasma screen via HDMI. Whole spec is ni my profile.

Well I've installed Windows 7 over my previous Windows XP.
The installation went smooth and without a hitch.
I've completed out the user accounts setup etc, but the problem is booting into Windows 7.
Basically, I turn my laptop on, it goes though it's boot diagnostics etc, then to the Windows 7 boot logo with the 4 atom things :b
It eventually finishes loading and then it takes me to a black screen where nothing happens. I can't see my cursor or anything. Then I hard restart.
However, I avoid this by booting into Safe Mode, or specifically Safe Mode with Networking (I'm typing this currently in Safe Mode).
I've checked my dxdiag and theres currently no data for my Intel GMA965 graphics chip.
I honestly have no idea, and a mate of mine who has the exact same laptop has Windows 7 installed and functioning perfectly.
Also, is it possible to force the application Windows Update to run when in Safe Mode?
on first install of windows 7 (and XP when I was using it) the comp ran fine booted in less than 30secs, but over the couple of weeks it just keeps getting slower and slower now it can take anywhere between 3-5min.
once it has booted to windows log on screen it takes all of a secound to load.
I built my and my brothers comps, there both using the same Mobo/CPU I have 4GB (he has 2GB) but his computer boots faster than mine.
no problems once the comp has started apart from certain settings wont save like where I leave my Icons on DT, and screens staying maximized.

I run windows 7 home premium and this morning for no apparent reason when I plugged in my USB stick my computer blue screened, I tried restarting it and the same thing happened, I tested my usb on a different computer and it was fine, I tired both ports on my laptop and the same thing happened on both. Now, it had shut down like this before a couple days before.. However, this time a blue screen of death appeared right after I went into normal mode after the restart.
I tried it in safe mode.. I am able to get in to the log in screen.. then the waiting screen.. then the BSOD. I've heard that it's supposed to tell you what the problem is, but I still don't know what it is. I have some pictures below. I've tried diagnostics and repair.. Restoring to 2 weeks ago- spring break. Taking out my "new" devises (memory drives and graphics card) that I installed more than 3 months ago and replacing the memory with the ones it came with. My laptop keeps going to a blue screen and then will go quickly to the black screen in which I can start windows in safe mode or start normally. It does this several times a day. Then when windows starts again it get a window stating that windows experienced a unexpected shutdown.
