How Decompress Blue Files, Compressed By Windows 7

Apr 6, 2011

windows 7 doesn't allow sparse allocation, it pre allocates the new files we download from emule or torrent, so I selected the option "Compress Contents To Save Disk Space" only for the 2 folders containing the incomplete files downloaded by these 2 programs (the folders with the completed ones are unselected); when a file has been finished by emule, it moves automatically to the emule completes folder and the color of its name became black, but the files completed by utorrent keep to be compressed (I checked the File Properties dialog) and blue colored even when they moves in the utorrent completes folder. How can I get them in the usual way? Not only the color of the names of files, I just want to remove even the compression?

Opening Compressed Files?

Feb 9, 2011

I recently had cause to download a driver that sat on my computer for 2 days while I tried to figure out how to open it. I have the past month or so been confronted with a type screen I have not seen before. I was trying to make it come back up again but I can't right now but its a green screen and it has commands at the type like EXTRACT and so forth. I am desperate to find some way around this as it is continually happening a couple of times a week at the most inopportunte times. What is this program and where did it come from?

Windows 7 Failed To Start With "ynhif Is Compressed" Error

Dec 30, 2011

A friend who has an Aspire One with Windows 7 Starter asked me to help, his computer wouldn't boot. It would go through the bios part of the boot and then very quickly it would show an error saying "ynhif is compressed" and stop there. The error would come up so fast it was as if Windows wasn't even trying to boot. There was none of the normal Windows startup screens. There was nothing I could do to boot the machine. I couldn't get to the list of boot options. This problem was happening way before one could get that list in the startup process.

I booted off an AVG antivirus rescue disk cd and checked the system. There were no viruses. That disk allowed me to use a simple file browser and editor. I could see a file named ynhif with no file extension and a file size of around 233kb. It was modified at the same time that Windows 7.ld was modified.

I googled heavily but couldn't find anything about a file named vnhif. I didn't know what to do so on a hunch I just renamed the file to ynhif.old and the system booted right up.

Does anyone have any idea what ynhif might be from and how it got there? I looked into it with a text editor and looked like it was some kind of boot file, with references to linuxey stuff and thing about booting.

Bootmgr Is Compressed Windows 7 Fix Without Cd?

Nov 23, 2010

I compressed my hard drive for space, but I compressed some files that shouldn't be compressed. BOOTMGR error is coming up, and everything I have read says you need a 7 install disk to repair this issue..... as it goes, I don't have one. And I can't get one. Now there has to be some way to fix this without it. I have a lap top that is also running 7 right now but it's a friends and has no disk. My desktop is the problem.

Compressed Boot Manager In Windows 7

May 13, 2010

when we compress the disk space entirely by going to my computer --> right click on the c: drive icon ---> properties ---> compress disk drive, the compression utility in win 7 accidently may compress the boot manager files that include the file bootsect.bak and the boot folder also . when the computer is restarted the machine hangs up and says "boot manager is compressed " and shuts down .at the prompt type notepad (since the recovery option boots from a seperate wim image it has notepad built into it ) press ctrl + o which invokes the open file dialog go to the open file field (ALT+N) and type c:oot and also see for the c:ootmgr file. right click it and deselect the option of "compress files to save disk space" when we apply the boot manager is again decompressed. also if someone finds this harder we can directly deselect the compression option by reversing the process used to compress the drive thats it . we are done

Boot Manager Compressed - Windows 7 System Would Not Load

Feb 6, 2012

I just have a quick comment on what not to do when running windows 7. I had just installed 7 Ultimate liked it seemed to be working fine! Then I made the dreadful mistake of compressing the hard drive. In doing so when the system tried to boot back up the system would not load received message boot manager compressed. So make a long story short I had to load my recovery disk and uncompress the hard drive. But why I have never had that issue with any other windows product until Win 7.

Bootmgr Is Compressed

Oct 3, 2012

So, i've got a big problem. Yesterday, I tried to reinstall my windows 7 starter on my Acer Aspyre One AOA 150. I wanted to delete everything from HDD, but after, when I trying to restart, I meet this nice characters: BootMgr is compressed. I read a lot of informations in this forum, but I can't solved this problem.I prepared a bootable HDD from my TOSHIBA, and I changed the first boot to the USB HDD ( I don't know why can't I boot from SDD card.. ). When the boot is starting, it took a few seconds, and BootMgr is compressed, Without bootable HDD, the Windows Boot Mgr wrote: The windows boot configuration data file does not contain a valid os entry.

Cannot Start X86 Programs From Exe Files

Sep 16, 2011

I've run across a weird error that is making me bang my head against the wall.. I am running windows professional x64

I cannot seem to start any x86 programs from their shortcuts, or exe files. The problem exists in both regular and safe mode. When I click the exe or shortcut, the process comes up in the task bar using a tiny amount of memory (~100K) and just sits there.

I CAN run any program from cmd using the start command (start path o.exe), and I also can run any x64 programs that I have installed. I have tried sfc /scannnow and chkdsk /r.

Also, if I add a program to the startup list (registry or startup folder) it starts up fine on boot.

HTGCM Is Compressed - Hit Ctrl + Alt + Del To Restart?

Feb 18, 2011

I used the disk clean function and thought I would be saving more space on the drive by checking the compress feature. Now when I boot up, after the Dell window the message shows up on a black screen, like a 'c' prompt screen HTGCM is compressed hit ctrl - alt - del to restart. When I do that just repeats the cycle. How do I get out of that and get the thing to boot up. I tried the boot up disc that the system creates for you and selected each of the options in turn down to the 'system image' one, because I don't have a system image of Windows 7 Ultimate. When I used the restore point, the result was "did not restore completely error# 0x800700b7". I have no original software cd's.
