Jul 13, 2010I have a recently bought Acer Aspire 5745g and made a clean install of Windows 7 since I couldn't stand all the jibberish that accompanied the laptop in the first place. However, when I run all the drivers provided by Acer (their website, didn't get any CD/DVD) all devices except one function properly; "PCI simple communications controller".
Without pushing the Aspire nearly as hard as I could push my old one (3 years old HP nx9420) it got too warm and froze twice. Hence I'm thinking the "PCI simple communications controller" maybe could have something to do with the fan speed (barely noticeable wind-flow)??

Windows 7 Wont Find Drivers Automatically
Jun 13, 2010I connected my Casio LK-215 via USB. Widndows won't find drivers automatically so i tried to get ones from Casio but they aren't for 64 bit Windows. So i downloaded some M-Audio drivers and installed them but in device manager it shows red exclamation mark and when it's connected and i try to play after a while it just freezes.

Will Not Download Updates Automatically Or Manually Via MS Catalogue
Apr 20, 2012I've just put my Dell Studio back to factory settings after having it for two years and deciding to give it a rebirth. I maintain my laptop very well but always like to do a reset every so often.
The problem I'm having now is that the damn thing wont update from Windows Update. It will identify that there are 76 important or critical downloads, but hangs at 0% downloading.
I went to the MS catalogue and tried to download manually, but even though I had the updates selected in my basket, again, it just hung on 0%.
I've ran Kasperskys TDS, the Malicious Tool Removal MS thingy-ma-jig, ran an sfc check where it did note there were corrupt files but it couldn't fix them. The Fix It link to the MS Update Not Working thing found no problems either.
Interestingly, I've just reset and it's telling me the system had to be restarted to finish installing updates, but when you click on it for more info, there's no updates listed.
